  • Damn Rich, between you and Greg Mink (Premiere 1 Driver), every video is a walk down Memory Airway... er... Memory Lane. The last time I landed at SMF it didn't have a "One Six Left." (I'm dating myself)! After the PATCO strike in '81, I was detailed to SMF Tower (then METRO Tower) as an acting Team Supervisor. For me, it was a seven month vacation before I went back to the TRACON. One afternoon I rode down to SFO and back in one of Aerojet's Lear 25's (N241AG). Coming off 28R at SFO, they wanted to demonstrate the capabilities of the '25.' They showed me a max-performance takoff and climbout, VFR at 17.5 back to Metro. I'll never forget... there were only 3 of us on the Lear and we'd burned a thousand pounds down to SFO. He pointed that thing at the sky and climbed like a Homesick Angel. The controller shouts into the microphone, "One Alpha Golf, don't turn inside United... Don't turn inside... HELL, you're already a thousand feet above him, contact Departure, good day." They wanted to show the descent performance as well. We crossed the Elkhorn Bridge (I-5 over the Sacramento River) level at eleven, and turned a one-mile base to final for one six. I WAS IMPRESSED!!

  • Thanks for this informative video. We have a King Air C90 right now, and I am interested in selling it and buying a Mustang. We are on the East Coast flying mostly to Texas, Maryland and also down to Grand Cayman Island. We will sometimes do longer trips as well (up into Canada). Toronto, with a stop in Pittsburgh. Do you think the Mustang would be less to maintain than the King Air?

    @dr.davidj.welham841@dr.davidj.welham8414 жыл бұрын
    • Our experience with Mustangs is that they are very economical to maintain. I'd be happy to send you more detailed maintenance costs from one of our customers if you want to send me an e-mail. Hard for me to say if the Mustang would be less than your C90 so I think best to get a look at real numbers on a 510, and then compare with what you are spending on the C90. Thanks for watching, and the feedback.

  • I saw you cruise at FL 400 at 335 TAS. I've seen Steveo1Kinevo videos in the TBM where he cruises at the same TAS but at FL 300. Plus the TBM has the same number of seats . What would be the reason to buy the Mustang over a TBM especially with the newer TBM 940s which have the same the same performance as the mustang and probably at a cheaper price? I'm not sure about the range and payload of the mustang though but a tbm seems like a cheaper option for the same performance??!!

    @derrick_blak_@derrick_blak_4 жыл бұрын
    • Pilot Derrick TBM is way more expensive !.... Easily 3x more than the Mustang

      @OMSecretAgent@OMSecretAgent4 жыл бұрын
    • The experience I have in the TBMs is limited, and was in an 850. I normally saw just under 300KTAS in it. To get 330 KTAS in the TBM you would have to go into a newer version - I think the 940's list at well north of $4M, and I think even a comparable model year 850 would be $300K-$500K more than a Mustang - so I think price is one key difference. I think a buyer considering a new TBM 940 would more likely look at used M2 at that price point over a Mustang. Having said that, I agree with the performance comparison. Another advantage to the TBMs that I see often with customers is no type rating required. Thanks for watching and appreciate your feedback.

      @FlyingwithRich@FlyingwithRich4 жыл бұрын
    • @@FlyingwithRich awesome. Thanks for the info and feedback too !! Great videos too !! Those TBMs are quite expensive then for a single engine turbo prop !!
