A new chicken lady here. Never done this before. I took my great nieces and nephews to pick out a chicken. Ages 2-16. They were excited. We bought a 10x10 shed and putting that up now. So we went for 6 chicks, one a piece. Came home with 10! I am really hoping there's no rooster. So I thought I'd share my new adventure. I too am putting curtains up and decorating. inside. Wish me luck i'll take any advice you want to give.
Hello! Chicken owner of 2 years here :) I reccomend for you and the kids to spend time with the chicks because they become more tame, and are very unlikely to become mean. For the same reason, incase there is a roo, they will be less agressive. I have a roo and he is a total sweetheart :)
Mike is an absolute unit
This is my dream farm, all organised and decorated ❤you've gone out to lengthy to ensure safety from predators and clean chickens and cleaning eggs, healthy and happy chickens ❤❤❤
Lots of upgrades and changes over the years!
best coop design i have seen, and i have been researching for the past 6 months. Thanks fpr all your great information.
This is one of the most spacious and beautifully functioning coops I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration 🐓
Love it… I mirrored my run and barn after you! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I just introduced my flock to a “fenced tree covered run” and they LOVE it and I love that it’s safer for them too… although, I still am outside with them when they’re out.
Your dad sound's amazing and so so supportive ❤❤❤
On our poop shelf I use PDZ Horse Stall Refresher. I use it much like kitty litter. Use a kitty scoop from the Dollar Tree to remove the poop. And PDZ is compostable. You might wish to try it. Best wishes.
Mud in my pen is an absolute pain, yours looks lovely and dry. Great pen. Love using recycled materials.
Hi there. In Australia l call that wire snake wire as its small enough mesh to keep even baby snakes out. God bless.
Dream coop! Excellent tour!
beautiful coop.
Love your channel, this is the best coop ive ever seen congratulations you must have the happiest chickens
Absolutely wonderful set up! Nice job! Your chickens look great!
Such a great video! Amazing bird habitat you have created. Keep up the great work and keep us posted,
Your chickens have a wonderful area . Goals for me Thank you for sharing
Looks awesome
Love your coop❤
Love this, thank you. I have a similar set up with the poop shelf and I was trying to figure out how to make a nursery. Will use your idea. Great coop!
really well done!
Thank you so much for the video! So helpful. About how many bags of Hemp bedding do you get to cover the 8x8 coop?
I love your chicken co-op and run. And we are designing hours. And I will be taking a lot of ideas from your video. Thanks a lot
I have learned so freaking much from your Instagram which lead me to here! I think you are absolutely amazing and thank you for everything that I’ve learned!!! ❤
Great coop and run Nikki, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I have been a devout IG follower of yours. Chicken math got the best of me and I can barely fit my now 16 hens in the current coop. I think I'm going to start the conversion of my current shed into my new main coop! (with the help of this video and my construction dad)
And we’ve built the new coop!! Is yours insulated? I’m in CO and we get cold winters!!!
Thank you for sharing, this is very interesting and you have made it funny and informative. Nice job. Just came across you randomly. :) Have a great day, Its great learning new things like this, and I love the details you think about for the safety of your animals.
Thanks!! I'm slowly upgrading my coop and run using your recommendations. I just got the new bedding and Saturday Lime, nest pads, and grubs from pet and pasture. I love your "wallpaper" idea and will copy that as scrubbing off chicken poo- poop art is no Bueno lol. Next I want to get solared with fans, cameras to keep my pretties cool and spy on them. Oh and I also want to look into the nest boxes like yours. Then decorating time❤❤
Put some hardware cloth at the bottom of the fence and then put PT wood on top of the hardware cloth or big rocks. I had to do this to my fence. I love the seating area by the run (I'd be turning it to visit with my girls)!
Perfection!
This is so amazing!! You may have a video on this, direct me if you do; what would you prioritize on a budget? I would love to have this set up one day; but in the mean time, what would you say is a need vs a “luxury”? Sorry I don’t know a better way to describe. Love all your knowledge and videos!
I love it
Lovin it, being fond of chickens I better feel emotions attached with it
Your chicken coop tour has honestly been on of the best videos I’ve seen so far!! Question for you, why not put sand inside the shed under the roosting area? You can still use a shovel to pick up the chicken poop. Do you avoid the sand because the sand might produce a lot of dust? Thanks for any insight! 👍🏼👍🏼
Great Video! Thanks :)
Love your coop and run! Do you clip their wings? Just curious if they ever fly over the fenced area
Awesome coop and tour! I’m curious about the Saturday lime, is it safe for use when you add the poo in the compost?
Amazing
The ADOR1 Automatic Chicken Coop Door is an extra $75US to ship to Canada, which is $102.60 CDN. Why such high shipping prices.
Awesome setup!! How many 9 pound bags of Eaton P&P hemp do you use in your 8x8 coop?
Where did you get the sand?
AND, and the sh!t shelf looks so much easier to keep cleanish---no raking and bending. Ill call mine the poopoo platter or poopy patio.
Hi what do you recommend if you need to go on 2 week inlaw visit out of state?
✌✌✌❤❤❤❤From LONDON.
Jack in g when your face in 😅 looks good
I really appreciate this tour, as I am in the middle of building my own 8x8 coop. I follow you on IG as well and have learned so much - it makes me feel better as we prepare to get our chicks this September. I think I would like to add a shelf under the roosting bar as well. If you have two roosting bars, and recommend the back one be at least 16 inches from the wall, how far apart should you space the front one from the back one - another 16 inches? I am just trying to figure out how deep I should make the shelf.
12” is enough space between the two! And then 12-16” from the front
@@purelychickens Thank you!
Is Quikrete all-purpose sand safe for in the run?
Love ur vibes!! I also follow on insta n becuz of ur tips I got my girls nesting pads and the hemp bedding!!! My coop is so much more cleaner so a big thx u!!😊
What type of chicken are the black and white ones? I'm new to chickens. I have a coop, but haven't yet got any chicks.
Great video. What kind of chicken is Cruella? She’s a beauty
Did I miss the part where you were going to discuss the coop ventilation??
Can I compost chicken waste that has been combined with Lime?
Is it in United States of America or United Kingdom? Please specify for our knowledge. Beautiful coop with a peaceful landscape.
This is a late post/ question I hope you can reply. You have an auto pop door. What is the brand? Are you satisfied? Thanks, Susan NW Georgia
I am also interested to find out what brand pop door?
Great video. I love the coop and run. I've been a subscriber for a while and love your content. I also love making chicken videos. What chickens do you have?
I have a lot of Orpingtons, a few different marans, Wyandotte’s, Easter eggers, olive eggers, green queen, ameraucana, Cochins and a few others :)
@@purelychickens nice breeds. 👍
@@BIGFeathersFarmwhat about you?
Your roosts are on the wide side. Is that better? We have them with the thinner side up.
I’ve had them both ways. Didn’t notice a difference either way but they do seem to be able to stay up there better this way when they are all fighting over a spot! Feet stayed warm in winter both ways
Could you tell me were you got you nesting boxes again?
What kind of sand do you use in the run?
What are those all white chickens with splashes of black?
Splash maran, splash Orpington, splash ameraucana
@@purelychickens absolutely stunning!

💗🐣🐔🐓
Do all your 30 chickens fit on those two roost in your coop
Yes they do but I have a handful of bantams
I thought elderberry was poisonous to chickens...
Chickens can have the fruit of the plant. If they eat a ton of the leaves and stems they could potentially be toxic but chickens leave them alone naturally. I also but those back before they get access to the garden
@@purelychickens good to know
😂😅😊😮
