As a rural Canadian who lives in a tourism- driven locale, adores Winter, solitude and Nature...this speaks to me. Thank you so much for the lovely tale that highlights that strange tension between ‘real life’ and the ‘other’! 🖤
The passage from 6:51 to 8:06 is the most terrifyingly beautiful description of the paralysing quietness of the majesty of nature at night that I've ever read or heard.
Algernon Blackwood is FANTASTICALLY GOOD!
I've been reluctant to listen again to this story, because I Ioved it so much the first time I read it. Algernon blackwood's most beautiful story. : )
Love it. Algernon Blackwood was able to capture the feel of “man in the wilderness” so well.
He was a major outdoorsman himself--and a helluva great writer....
I love this story, never heard anything quite like it. Love algernon’s nature stories.
Saw "snow" and "Algernon" so i clicked immediately! Love your voices
I always enjoy seeing the images associated with each story. Thank u for the content…..
This story is like a beautiful poem. I was as entranced as Hibbert.
“The desolate, wild places of the earth were what he loved; night, and the beauty of the stars and snow.“ - this is one of his best beside Willows and Wendigo
Gosh, I love Algernon Blackwood! Thank you so much for reading this!
Beautiful and lone mystery people in the wilds are to be waved at from a distance and then retreated from. Such a descriptive story and very evocative. Jennifer's voicing of "the girl" was wonderful; clear and bright with innocently deadly insistence.
Thank you for your time & thank you for a volume a deft man can hear.
This must be my favorite reading on the channel. It's the only one I've listened to 5 times. Something about it is just so hauntingly alluring!
Algernon Blackwood is one of my favorite authors... Good stuff...
Achingly beautiful writing on display here. I was hanging on every word, almost having an out-of-body experience listening to this utterly gorgeous composition. I think I was actually there. I think I actually became Hibbert for the night. Mr. Blackwood is a true master with words.
So this is how " snowboarding " was first accomplished?!
Your presentation of this superb classic is the finest by far, as always. Thank You once again Ian & Jennifer!
He was a very fortunate man and hopefully he has learned his lesson. Snow has no heart or mercy and it's well to remember it, even if it's beautiful.
A western retelling of the tale of Yuki-Onna, someone succumbing to hypothermia, a death natural to the Earth, as Algernon Blackwood and Jack London seem to do so well. An amazing narration as always.
Liked this story a lot. Nice to hear during the storm. Scary but not too scary .
Thank you very much.
Thank you, Ian and Jen. One of my very favorite Blackwood tales, and beautifully narrated as well. A lovely way to start off the week!
I listen to these all day at work. Thank you
This is warm and touching. Thank you for this new jewel 🙏🏽❤️🎩🌹
Amazing story and narration! Algernon knew how to tell a tale! Thanks!
I recently listened to this story via Spotify and was captivated nearly the whole way through. I believe that this is a case of romance in disguise, that the tale was originally conceived as something beautiful and pure but was given some horror garnish in order to make it fit more squarely into weird tales or something similar. Editors and publishers are I think known to make demands of this nature of authors. Either way it was an immersive and masterfully read piece. I genuinely wish that more of HorrorBabble was available on spotify as I'm nearly through with their catalogue on it.
I doubt they would put such a demand on Blackwood.....he was fieendishly successful and a great writer....fascnating person too.
A brilliant story.
Stunning performance, Ian! As I sit here in this toasty library scanning this old book I feel a distinct chill from within. Thank you!
Sated. Thank you.
How wonderful, I appreciate all the effort you put in!!! Masterfully done as always. Thank you very much!!
Sort of a like Howard's "The Frost Giants Daughter" , similar theme with a very different setting. Great work as usual.
Dude! I had exact same thought. (even with vision of Frazetta painting) ...Also analogy with Japanese mythical creature Yuki-onna.
@@DemienC. Interesting - Yuki-onna- i'll check her out. Thanks!
Wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed it!! ✌ from Melbourne, Australia. 😊🐨
yay Blackwood!

This was is beautiful story. Excellent narration.
Poe, Lovecraft, Howard and Blackwood have "snow stories". The Glamour of the Snow was written in 1911. I can make contrived theory about connection to Amundsen's expedition. I wonder is there other tips or clues about inspiration for those stories.
Lovely story. Nice ending.
Another great listen ❤ Thanks HorrorBabble
Wonderful! Thank you.
very good reading - thank you so much. looking forward to more. Blackwood always has good endings to really suspenseful stories. you’re not entirely sure it will be his usual relieving ending. he’s really great to listen to : )
Thank you, Alexa! Be sure to check out our Blackwood playlist: kzhead.info/channel/PLeNNKRLWxwoMXHQbdNGgj--HtHM_60LAt.html

Fantastic reading, I was unaware of this excellent story, great choice of material.
Awesome thankyou very much for this one i found blackwood through your channel and i have been waiting for you to do another so thankyou so much
Another marvelous story as always.
WOW!
❤
HECK YEAH
A delusional man or someone who saw a ghost and fell in love with it. Good Job!!!!!!!!!!
Ian, another great read! It occurred to me that while classic books have little to no copyright laws, I believe the same stands true for various fan fictions out there. Due note that while most would immediately dismiss reading non-cannonical literature, there are some very amazing Cthulhu Mythos stories written by fans. I'm sure you are familiar enough with Lovecraft's cadence to discern what is- and what is not- worth mentioning. I'm sure sending the authors a link to this channel will more than suffice for obtaining whatever permissions you need from them. Side note: I've also noticed that you do not have have too many stories written by August Derleth are.these harder to come by?
Thank you! Given the situation with KZhead at the moment, it isn't worth going out of my way to find good fan fiction. I'd much prefer original writers to approach us when we're in an open submission period. I have however recorded some great stuff for the guys over at Journey to the Tree of Sorrows, much of which is based on the mythos (kzhead.info). As for Derleth, very few of his works are in the public domain. Ian

Is there a way to male money selling short stories?
Your background music stopped us hearing the game sounds and music.
Hi Kenneth. I'm not sure what you're referring to here. There is no background music accompanying this reading. Ian
