Hey everyone I hope you enjoy the latest video! I'm moving into bigger projects and my 13 inch planer is obviously not big enough. Therefore I've built this brand new router sled. I decided to use a linear rail system to make for ultra smooth operation. The sled works amazingly well!
I mounted a 2 1/4 hp Dewalt router to the rails.
I used 1500 mm rails for both top and bottom.

  • Great video. Thanks. This is very close to what I want to build. I have a question about the linear rails you used. Are you happy with the quality from this vendor? The link to the linear rails show you used the SBR16-1500mm for both sets of rails. But on the video, you mentioned the bottom rails were "beefier". If you rebuilt your setup now, would you have used SBR20 instead. Is there a recommended source for the 1/2 inch acrylic base? Thanks again for your help and instructional video!

    • I actually ordered 2 sets of the SBR20-1500 mm by accident. I'm sorry the link I posted was wrong.. The first rails I used for the top were the SBR12-1000mm.I decided to use both sets of SBR20-1500 and kept the smaller ones for another project. I would definitely recommend using the bigger ones for top and bottom.. The acrylic base was just from Amazon too. I think $30. Definitely worth it. And thanks for the compliment and question!

    • When I used SBR20 for both sides, the top rail cannot be mounted on the bottom SBR because the bottom SBR is too narrow to accommodate the top rail. I saw another KZhead video use a bigger one for the bottom and a smaller one for the top. Are you sure that you used the same SBR20 and the top rail can be mounted on the bottom SBR?

    • @@byunglee6351 yes I did and you're right they don't line up exactly right. I only use 2 of the 4 holes on the mounts and because I reinforce the ends with a piece of plywood its super sturdy
