Hi everyone,
This is my collage for week 18 of the challenge being hosted by Margarete Miller this year ( see below for details, if the #2024CW challenge is new to you and/or if you’re interested in taking part).
The prompts set for this assignment were as follows:
1. ‘ Something that people collect’ ~Alice in Wonderland is famous and
definitely items that relate to this lovely work of fiction is a collectable.
I chose an image of Alice as my collectable.
2. ‘ A geometric shape with at least five sides’ ~ I made some hexagons
recently, as secret journalling spots. One of these became a template
to cut out a smaller one to use on my assignment.
3. ‘Something featuring a clock or time-related element’ ~ The White
Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland runs around with a pocket watch in his
hand, so I chose an image of him as my time-related element.
4. ‘Text in a foreign language’ ~ Out came my trusty book and a torn
page from that hit the bill for this prompt.
5. ‘Something with a spine’ ~ Originally I chose another image from
Alice in Wonderland, the rat but I couldn’t make that work on my
collage. I replaced it with a postage stamp of a bird.
Bonus ‘A flower’ ~ The image I chose of Alice for prompt one was of her leaning against a yellow daisy. But as I don’t like doubling up my prompts pieces I dug out a coloured die cut of a yellow daisy. It was coated with a layer of Glossy Accents which I thought made it ‘pop’ on my assignment.

Oh my goodness Carol, this collage is fabulous! I love that background color and everything came together so well. Your Asian vintage/antique book is simply awesome. What a treasure!🥰

Ha ha, sometimes the prompts have us doing that, don't they. I find leaving out the prompts for my next assignment laying out in my craft room helps. I take a look every time I pass and invariably an idea begins to take shape. Can't wait to see your assignment this week, Have fun. Hugs C xx

A very pretty page this week ... those Alice images are adorable, I love the illustrations in that book - the background colour you chose is amazing too, it was the perfect choice. TFS.
Sooo thrilled you liked it sis. Once I realised that 3 images wasn't going to work, if for no other reason than size alone ( slow sussing that one out !!!) I was well on my way....lol. BIG hugs C xx

Lovely collage, Carol and you managed very well with the octagon, which gave me grief.
Lol I go there in the end but it was a bit tortuous working that one out. In my mind's eye it was all going to fit perfectly... not so much in reality. Often the way and all part of the challenge with these assignment, isn't it. Thanks so much for popping by and have a fabulous week. Hugs C xx
So cute you went with Alice in wonderland. Sometimes I notice I use too many flowers, since I love nature, but I’m “ trying” to use different stuff or style. Well I felt, every time 😅😅
It is hard, isn't it? We tend to gravitate towards what we love and/or like to see. I try not to be too hard on myself and just create with things I enjoy eg vintage papers and like to see and chose my images accordingly. I figure, this is my journal and won't be sold so I'll create one that I'll enjoy flipping through when it's finished. BUT that being said I do try to push myself to work away from my usual composition ( that diagonal thing I've got going on)... more for practise than anything really. Hope you're having a great week.
