  • Middle earth: Shadow of war is a great example of Conquering because you literally take over regions. Fantastic open-world game with tons to do and with the expansion pack it's even better

    • Yes! I was quite surprised to not see it on this list actually. The process of building up an attacking force to conduct a siege, or implementing spies within enemy ranks to sabotage defences is so satisfying. Not to mention the fantastic nemesis system.

  • The saboteur was one of my favourite games on PS3, it had a certain charm about it and the black and white filter when in an occupied area is still such a unique idea. A rough diamond but certainly a hidden gem.

    • The saboteur is a real hidden gem. It is AC:Syndicate which happens in WWII Paris with ACTUAL progress in the regions you explore/conquer. That slow transition from B/W to colored, the transition in the background music was something that I'd like to see more in the modern games. If there would be a remastered or 2nd version of the game, I will definitely preorder it.

    • Me too. I loved the loop of buying some ammo and bombs, going out and taking out some Nazis and a few watchtowers and spotlights then back to the merchant. Perfection. Games like Ghost recon Wildlands are the only thing close to the same sort of endless loop nowadays.

    • That game was just so charming in its own right. I still play it every now and again and a good bit of its gameplay holds up today. But the sheer amount of stupidity that can occur gets…hilarious. Like “accidentally” hitting the spawn cap at alarm level 5 and having destroyed half tracks phase in and out of reality.

  • Bannerlord is actually fully out on steam since Oct. 25 and for anyone that interested in playing the game, be sure to check out the mods for the game. The mods bring in huge overhauls to the game, making it 10x better. Since the game has came out recently, lot's of big mods for game are still in development so you guys might have to wait for a bit. But even then, the base game is fun already.

Or that there was a consistent source of gold, since it’s finite and consumables, upgrades, and skills require gold to purchase them. I know there was a previous game in the series that was based on Greece or Rome. I liked how the amount of troops you released increased the amount of Allies you had in sieges, and there are probably hundreds of enemies on screen, but as your troops die, enemy shamans will spawn them as Hel’s legion

  • I think the major difference to the usual X4 games is the player as an in-universe person. Not some immortal controlling force. The conquest is also more plot than mechanic, imho. In many other games like Just Cause and many Far Cry you liberate the areas more than conquer. They change hands, but you have little to no control.

  • My issue with state of decay 2 is they did very little post launch to add to the base building. Sure there's Trumbull valley and the red talon stuff but their main focus seemed to be tweaking the zombies and adding difficulty modes. Im hoping in 3 they'll have gotten it down pat

  • It would be nice, if in the next prototype game ( if they'll ever be a new prototype game) that you can choose to infect the city and takeover parts of it, while recruiting other infected super powered people, to take down government controlled parts of the city. Or heal up the city from the infection, having people look up to you as a hero, even helping you in a specific places in the story, even putting up posters.

  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim In the Stormcloak Vs. Imperials civil war the whole way of progressing in the way is being sent to lead troops in different battles at specific forts in different provinces, once all enemies are killed, you conquer it. It's actually quite fun, and (without mods) it becomes really intense

  • I liked the conquering feature in Mafia 3. It’s certainly not perfect however there’s just not many options for Mafia type games where you are the big boss and you take over the city. There’s one of the godfather games but it’s pretty old by now and I don’t think it’s available on ps4.

  • Overlord 2 also has short or longterm gain conquest, where short-term is killing all the inhabitants for immediate gains and long-term is mindbreaking them to produce equipment for your minions, gold & souls for you. And you don't have to destroy the houses to find all of them, you can just destroy the door and they'll run out.
