  • I consider "Sweetener", "Thank U, Next" and "Positions" a trilogy bc of how close they released with each other, and I think after releasing so much music within that time, Ari did deserve a break, and we missed her and we're happy she's returned.

    • @@adrian102yes but the sonic of each album is vaguely similar and they have a cohesive theme of her examining her own romantic relationships, relationship with herself, and image issues + low self esteem. From what we’ve heard of this album, it seems like it’ll be much more of a display of who she is and what she can do rather than just contemplating her issues. Also the shift from edm/pop/trap and now house signals to me that she’ll move in more alternative directions (RnB, jazz, concept albums)

  • Hearing Ari talk about the distinction between her persona in acting versus music is fascinating. Commonly, actors mention that acting lets them embody different characters, whereas music provides a space to express their true selves, making it a more personal endeavor. Therefore, Ari's revelation that she found her authentic self through acting, as opposed to music, offers an intriguing perspective.

What did we even learn about the album? The entire time she's waxing poetically about wicked vs the album which most of her fans care about more.

The album gives "answers" about her feelings and struggles, and people are creative in a bad way...Since the rumour started, people only talk about her relationships and body, they believe it as the truth and don't try to thinking critically. Also, I'm curious what the songs are about for her, but at the same time everybody have their own interpretations, we have to accept it.

  • There is no interview bond quite like the comfort between Zach and Ari. You can see how Zach knows exactly how to ask what the loyal fans want to know-- is Ariana happy? What does eternal sunshine mean to you? What parts of Glinda were you surprised to find within yourself? How did you know when the album was done? Thank you for allowing us to follow along Ariana's career and having a source that makes it feel so personal.

I wonder if her speaking voice maybe has to go through that same "journey" of self-discovery, or something. Like, she's still figuring out who she is, and until that happens, she may unconsciously mimic the accents/voices of those around her.

When artists give snippets and drop drama about their life in their works but refuse to give details, it’s like info dumping on people who didn’t ask and then expecting them not to be pissed when you don’t elaborate. Cliffhangers literally have a psychological effect on the mind and they *know* this. People want to understand what kind of person they’re supporting.

But I think its so important that we stress that this woman her whole life wanted to be Glinda, and she worked for it her whole life, reminded people hey id love to audition when it happens and now shes doing it in not just a small way in like an iconic equal way. Obviously kristen Chenoweth will always be the icon in the broadway world but when it comes to film it will be Ariana. Its bigger than her and its one of her life purposes and you can see it in the way she dedicated herself and her approach to it. Not in a method actor way, but in a psychological way that shows she had to understand herself to emit a character that wasnt her or ariana the pop singer. She went back to her roots and built back up. As a musician its so hard to go from that pop to broadway or opera and it takes some retraining. So happy for her and im so excited for this movie

  • I will say, that people don't allow for change in character traits with celebrities (not talking about relationship things, more like the way she articulates herself and presents herself) Maybe she felt like she outgrew the person she was and this is more true to who she feels she is now. We are allowed to change and evolve and grow in the way we communicate and even if what she's saying feels vague and evading. Just because she used to speak a certain way, doesn't mean the core of who she is has changed (I definitely don't articulate my thoughts and feelings the same way I did in my early twenties). Unfortunately a lot of her behaviors remain consistent, maybe starting with the way she communicates is the first step towards self reflection on a deeper level. But maybe she's just used to enunciating more due to her role in wicked and needing to sound crisp and clear and its translated into her speaking voice even now after filming.
