The official music video for 'Red Red Wine' by UB40, from the album ‘Labour Of Love’.
For all things UB40: linktr.ee/ub40official
Lyrics:
Red red wine
Goes to my head
Makes me forget that I...
Still need her so
Red red wine
It's up to you
All I can do, I've done
Memories won't go
Memories won't go
I'd have sworn that with time
Thoughts of you would leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart
My blue heart
I'd have sworn that with time
Thoughts of you would leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart
My blue, blue heart
The official music video for 'Red Red Wine' by UB40, from the album ‘Labour Of Love’. Released in the UK August 8th 1983 reaching number 1 in the singles chart. Having initially been released in the U.S in March the following year, reaching number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the band’s performance of the song at Nelson Mandela’s 70th birthday party, it was subsequently rereleased on October 15, 1988 and the song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In September 2014, the Official Charts Company announced that sales in the UK had reached one million.
The song was written by Neil Diamond, but UB40 had heard Jamaican-born singer Tony Tribe’s 1969 reggae version first and according to Astro they didn’t even realise it was originally written by Diamond, telling the Financial Times "Even when we saw the writing credit which said 'N Diamond,' we thought it was a Jamaican artist called Negus Diamond."
This official video was directed by Bernard Rose, filmed at the famous Eagle and Tan pub in Birmingham. The pub was also featured on the cover of the 1987 “Best of UB40” compilation.
Track personnel:
Jimmy Brown - drums, syncussion
Ali Campbell - vocals, guitar
Robin Campbell - guitar, vocals,
Earl Falconer - bass
Norman Hassan - percussion, vocals,
Brian Travers - saxophones
Micky Virtue - keyboards
Astro - toasting, rhyming, percussion
In 2022, the band released a new version of the track featuring new vocalist Matt Doyle. The track was performed live at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony to an estimated viewing audience of 1 billion people globally. It is the second single (following Champion) to be taken from the album UB45.

My father was Algerian (North Africa). He wasn't the kind who would listen to that kind of music. But while he was listening to french nation-wide radio station called "Europe 1", UB40 Red Red Wine got on the radio and he said by smiling, "That's the real music". He took me by surprise that day. Daddy, I miss you so much. God is taking care of you. Je t'aime fort Papa.
My condolences to you and your family happy listening

its crazy how old songs actually never get old!! Old is gold!
The right phrase is gold never gets old.
That is when the singers are good for real.

I lost a college friend of mine in August 2021. UB40 was our pre-hit-the-town warm-up band in the mid- '80s, especially "Rat in the Kitchen". I finally saw them live in 2019 and they didn't disappoint. I'm sorry for your loss; your love for him has touched my soul. God bless you, friend.

My deepest condolences!!
RIP Astro. Ironically enough I listened to this s song on a sad March night back in 2006 while drinking red wine with my gf. My mom was sick and dying in hospital from cancer. I needed company and a distraction that night or I would have gone mad. That was nearly 16 years ago. I have two beautiful children with that GF now and we are married. Times were tough for many years but I can say that I am blessed despite all the hardships

I went from 20 yr old to 60 yr old in 5.0 seconds it seems. If youre 20 now, be careful, tread slow, and make all the right moves. Its a one way ride!
Man im 28 right now, and i dont even know where the last 8 years have gone.... It wont get any slower from here on out, will it 😅
It’s not possible to make all the right moves because we are human. “To err is human…” like the quote says. But as long as you learn from your mistakes that is the main goal.

Back in the 80s my mom was an alcoholic, and you better believe she jammed out to this song almost every car trip. She used to pass out in my room while I was playing and wouldn’t wake up for anything, scaring the crap out of 6-year old me. Thankfully, she’s been sober since the mid-90s and is an awesome person whom I love to death. Edit: I wanted you to know she had passed away in November of 2021. She really was a terrific person and I will miss her.

I remember the song, never knew who sang it and seeing, the video and the verses you understand the meaning. A young man who suffers from a finished love relationship. There is melancholy, nostalgia and the rhythm of ragae manages to bring more value back to the verses. He finds refuge in drinking red wine.... he wants to forget or at least relieve his pain but it's not easy, the memories resurface, sometimes it happens to cross his ex-girlfriend with someone else's companion ...... you lose the notion of time, you lose the desire to go home to a place of solitude .... still and sitting on the street it is picked up by a friend / father who with confident gestures demonstrates the value and importance of having someone in life you can count on, a shoulder to support you. Message ??? Even in the moments when you feel like you can't make it and you lose the will to carry on there will be someone who offers to accompany you on your path and you can do it, it's that push you need.Great song , amazing harmony , thanks for this marvel here . 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊.

Oh my god..this song 1983?The year when my mum died tragically ..killed at Lewisham train station..by a heavy train door and ended up on the train lines. My parents always played this album growing up and I liked it, it's now my first time seeing the video or reading about the band UB40, as a kid I assumed the singer was some Jamaican guy, TIL he's some white English guy. Rest In Peace Brian Travers. UB40 brought us great timeless music!!!
This was actually a Neil Diamond song and UB40 did some fine covers of Jamaican reggae but they wrote a lot of their own stuff in the early days , great video and I think that's The Eagle and Tun pub in the video and Curzon Street station (been there since Victorian times) and which will be used for HS2 terminal ....saw them live at Birmingham City FC in 1989, the Pogues and Robert Palmer supported that day and UB40 are playing there again on April 1st , no joke .....also doing a tour of the States in the summer, for me though not the same without Ali's vocals ....I can recall their concerts at Walsall, FC and the Birmingham Odeon as well, early 80's
I was 15 when this song came out maybe 16. Working at six flags over Texas and we would have keg parties and this song was always played. I miss the 80’s

This song brings back my childhood memories when I was listen to reggae music 🎶 ❤
Man, I can remember when I was just a little kid when my parents and I lived in a 2 story house, my dad used to play this song on the weekends, years later my parents are now divorced, every time she plays this song I think we both think of the good times our family had when we were together... It's kind of ironic actually because the song talks about how he drinks to forget his worries, and my parents separated because my dad had a drinking problem.. They had their differences, they had their disputes, and I've seen some things I can't forget. However, they are my family, and will always be. I've accepted them for who they are, and I love them.. Stay strong old man! Love you dad, love you mom! :)
Bless you brother
cuuute, this song reminds me of my father (deceased), same problem.
I have had a friend who showed me the tragedy of alcohol, and my family had dysfunctions too, but what I see in so many music comments that touch our hearts, is the longing we all have for a perfection in life that never quite came or made it. They say this is a cry for justice and peace in all of us as a desire to find God, but, that would have to be a personal resolution I suppose. In any case, my older age has given me more understanding of others and their sufferings so I so much hope you continue with the love you show here Brother!

best extreme low bass song like if you listsen to this on a bose product
70 hz isnt low lmaoo
Low bass? 90% of trap tracks produced by Metro Boomin have 808 bass on like 25hz (I mean the bass reaches this point but most of it is in like 30-40hz).
Guavo its more like 40-60 if my ears are correct. well thats what i think from what he produces for future
Sony headphones sounds better and have better low bass.
Great Bose system in my mates Lexus IS300 Sportscross, even sliding around roundabouts with a 2JZ at 6000rpm can't drown out that bass line!

Great version of a Neil Diamond song!!
I u t type t eh h,tj
Many know this but UB40 is the English unemployment form! lol
Eddie Black actually it was originally sung by Dean Martin - way back in the 40's - this is almost, but not quite as good
Red Red Wine was written by Neil Diamond in 1967, according to Google, I have known this for years So this song could not have been recorded 20 years before it was written!!
There was an old country song called Warm Red Wine that Dean may have sung, but according to Google that's the closest he gets unless you want to include Dean's funny song That Little Old Wine Maker Me.
Always thought it was a rad ass Rasta man singing....mind blown
thought i was the only one

@@wooooooot1 If you gotta ask you're a Ben Affleck fan...
For me, it's a tribute song for a friend who disappeared upon returning home from a deployment. She found her home empty, and her kids and husband were gone. Blood was found in the garage by police, but her body was never found. I miss her. Her favorite song was RED, RED Wine.
I was surprised as heck to learn that Neil Diamond wrote this song!
Anyone else ever noticed that everybody thinks this song is by Bob Marley? I guess nobody knows that Neil Diamond was the original writer and performer of the song but the ub40 version was a major hit. I really have no idea where people are getting Bob Marley from because Bob Marley had nothing to do with this song but everybody still thinks that he is the singer and songwriter of the song.
yeah i noticed... People thinks that every reggae songs are bob marley's...
They really do. My friend is actually a DJ in my city and he plays songs at nightclubs and he announces this song as " Bob Marley red wine remix"... I mean that dude works in the music industry and he doesn't even know that Bob Marley had nothing to do with this song I told him it was ub40 that covered the Neil Diamond song but she called me a liar he said it always has been Bob Marley. Lol and then I looked on Google to see if it's just him this stupid but I found of a 600 videos on KZhead entitled Bob Marley red red wine I even found Bob Marley red red wine on lyric websites even people who work in the music industry don't know the difference what the fuck has this world come to?
Also go find other music videos of the song online and you'll actually see people fucking asking why Bob Marley is having two white guys pretend to sing his song in whos music video.
Sounds nothing like Bob Marley. I guess white people cant tell the difference.
That's interesting I didn't know you could see through audio.
Such an uplifting song, just shows what can happen when you bring 2 cultures together in harmony
