They lost, but never were able to move on, and they didn't ask for a srate when they were under Jordanian and Egyptian rule, but didn't get citizenship either. So, the Arabs who lived under the British mandate of Palastine, were weponized by the Arab world and UNWRA in the hope of eradicating Israel. The Palastinians are not able to currently build a state, they wish to destroy Israel and that is a different goal entirely. I'd like to live in peace with Arabs from all of the region, and I don't mind actually accepting a Palastinian state in principle, but there are all the reasons to expect that a Palastinian state would be established with every intention of just fighting forever with Israel. • Maybe. But I think you’ll find a huge group of people like myself who understand Israel’s attack on Hamas and their supporters in Gaza (76% of the population support the October 7th attacks), even while thinking Israel needs to show more care, stop using dumb bombs when claiming they’re all precision and allow humanitarian corridors when it doesn’t interfere with their operation. So basically qualified support for Israel defending itself. At the same time, we loathe Netanyahu and would be happy to see the violent, supremacist settlers and their supporters in some parts of the IDF stopped. It’s strange that the majority is the governments of the free world kinda hold this position, don’t you think? Or is that because of the ‘Israel lobby?’ Sounds like an antisemitic position to me - those pesky Jews, manipulating the gentile democratic, nay aryan, governments! Ok, that’s probably not what you think but I’ve come across several ‘anti-racist’ lefties who think that way. Our governments cock up a lot but maybe this is one of those other times, when they have all the information. And that’s why they support Israel in Gaza while opposing the settlements on the West Bank? This is not a simple conflict. It has been going on since the attack on Khybar and the rejections of Mohammad as a prophet by the Jewish elders in 7th or 8th Century Arabia. Not to mention his dream of a visit to Jerusalem on then back of a winged donkey. I’m not poking fun at these beliefs, Judaism and Christianity have equally absurd stories people believe to be true. But this is what we’re dealing with - God gave the land to one tribe while the same god, almost, gave the land to someone else. And war has results. My grandfather left Europe in the 30s, a refugee from Fascism. Does that make me a refugee too? Should I attack whomever lives in the estate he once had, claiming it as mine? No. Best stay out of the whole thing. It can only be made worse by starry eyed interference and believing one side bad, the other good. And when the ‘bad’ side is Jewish people, well. That just stinks.

  • Israel should have just annexed the WB. There's no Palestinian state, it was never declared apart of one because the Palestinians never declared a state in 1948 and opted to try for genocide instead going for independence rather than accepting the partition. Jordan annexed it in the 1950s, they didn't give it to the Palestinians. Israel took it in the Six Day War and should have incorporated it properly. It's too strategically valuable to give away to the Anti-Semitic PA (They have a Martys fund and their leader has a PHD in holocaust denial). Any attempt of independence for Palestinian independence with the PLO/PA has been denied every time with the Palestinians getting up to 98% of what they want in the latest attempt at the start of the 2000s. But they go on about wanting to kill all the Jews and kicking them back to the sea (hence River to the Sea, (Israel will be free). Settlements are necessary for Israeli Territorial security. End of. They just need to stop imposing a military government in the region and move to an actual civilian one. Edit: Anyone saying that Jews are European colonialists barely understands that Jews are actually from the Levant and have lived in Israel for thousands of years. And most Jews in Israel aren't Ashkenazi (Which are still genetically Semitic, not Khazars or the like), they're Mizarhim Jews that left Arab countries upon being kicked out in the late 1940s/early fifties

Syria Palestina was the name given to the province of Judea after the third Jewish revolt against Rome in order to crush the presence of the Jews as much as possible after such a devastating conflict for the region and the problems the Jews caused for Rome. The Region thereafter was always considered part of Syria/whatever Damascus province existed in the time period of control (Such as under the Ayyubids or Ottomans). But Jews always persisted there and maintained their culture, whereas a Palestinian national consciousness only begins to grow in the 1930s in response to the various British commissions about what to do with the mandate. Before that and still even then, it was mostly considered apart of the wider Arab Pan-Nationalism movement by the Arabs themselves (Al-Husseini literally says this and the Egyptians used the PLO for that wider aim until the Camp David Accords that made peace between Israel and Egypt). Both a Israeli state and a Palestinian state movements have existed for about 90 years, but the Jewish identity which Israel is there for (as the only Jewish state in the world) is ancient. And the Jews always pray towards Jerusalem and pray to be in Israel when they engage in prayers.

Before anyone claims the assassination of Itzhak Rabin had anything to do with this (who was murdered by a right wing radical) his successor was Ehud Barak - also a left wing prime minister. This is important, because this gives the impression the Palestinians had no hand in the current situation. This is not to down play the alleged situation with the settlers, but is important to understand that the security situation got the PA to where it is now.
