    • I think they were trying to go for "so-bad-it's-good" but like a lot of times when filmmakers intentionally try to go for that, the movie just turned out to be "so-bad-it's-stupid." A movie usually only works on the "so-bad-it's-good" level when the filmmakers are genuinely convinced they are making something brilliant but have no idea how badly they're failing (i.e. The Room), but when they purposefully attempt to go for "so-bad-it's-good," the result is usually a movie like Blood & Honey.

  • The Emoji Movie made $217 million on a $50 million budget. "Jack and Jill" almost doubled its budget. "Epic Movie" made $87 million from a budget of $20 million, as you noted. "Blood and Honey cost $50,000 to make, and grossed over $5 million. So, the joke is on us? Because they keep making movies like this because they make money. Not if you go crazy on the production costs. But if you can keep those costs relatively cheap, you can do quite well.

  • The real tragedy of the Schumacher takeover of the franchise is not what was made in Batman and Robin, but what wasn't made in Tim Burton's rendition of Batman III and the trajectory of the franchise, which was handed over in wake of Burton's desires to go even darker than the already perceived too dark for children, Batman Returns. Could have had Michael Keaton once again, Billy Dee Williams as Two Face, Robin Williams as the Riddler.

Boll didn't need the movies to do well in order to make money. Also, short shooting schedules would allow him to get big- name actors in between their other projects.

From George Clooney as Batman, Barbara being Alfred’s niece instead of Commissioner Gordon’s daughter, the poor way they treated Mr. Freeze, Ivy was most accurate but was still a shell of source material, and Bane being so one dimensionally idiotic (who was really a genius)…..and the plot….i kind of wish they’d have brought out the “biff” “bam” graphics during the fights…..then you’d know they were going for all out cheesy/corny…..but alas I think they legitimately thought they were trying to make a serious movie with hints of humor…. That’s not to say one can’t enjoy the movie - lots of people have guilty pleasures. But it’s just bad. And it’s ok to admit it.

  • It is difficult to explain to people today the effect of the Star Wars Holiday Special had on Star Wars fans. It came mid-way between the first two movies and we had waited over a year for new Star Wars content. It was pre-internet, of course, so there was little information about the next Star Wars Movie and many of us feared that the Holiday Special was a preview of what to expect. Empire Strikes Back was still a year and a half away. It was a long and nerve-wracking wait.

Yes, it’s a bizarre, flawed and confusing adaptation of the Nintendo mascots but taken on its own merits has some great practical FX, makeup and top tier production design that harks back to extensive sets being built in their entirety before CGI stepped in to make things easier and lazier. Definitely an underrated film and one worth revisiting, especially if you can watch the bootleg cut included on the recent 4K Blu-ray …

And it also doesn't matter how absolute dоgѕhіt the movie is, if he thinks it will be fun to make, he's gonna make it. And the Pooh movie? Because they could. There's got to be some offshoot of the Streisand-Effect whereby the harder a company (Disney) pushes to keep their copyrights from falling into the public domain, once they do people are going to go nuts with them _just because._

There really was no way to justify that movie being made the way it was. But that was (and usually still is) Hollywood. • BATMAN AND ROBIN was a valid project, but they should have tweaked numerous details, even if one could accept the looney Gotham architecture. Still, better to be silly than serious and stupid like the Dark KNight trilogy. CATS had been on stage for yonks, so a movie would have been a perfectly valid project; it was bound to look strange, and did need some tweaking. Adam Sandler should have some sort of lifetime achievement award here: The aren't-we-naughty-at-a-safe-distance of YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN, I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY, FIFTY FIRST DATES (not for the premise, but for Sandler's character)

  • I have never played any of Super Mario games. I enjoyed watching the movie with Dennis Hopper a.o. well enough not to regret watching it. I thought it was fun. I wouldn't call it great cinema but I definitely didn't think it was as bad as game fans make it out to be.

  • I loved Super Mario Bros and Batman And Robin. I don't care that they are tacky or cartoony, that's what we expected from those kinds of movies back then and at least they werent as campy as the original Batman Series made for TV in the 60s. If you prefer your movies darker or closer to video game precise, then fine but I for one, will never tire of watching them and I dont feel guilty doing so either. I haven't seen Madam Web though and apparently dodged a bullet with this one. Blood & Honey I could see from the trailer that this wasn't my sort of film. I love horror movies but this one just felt wrong. If some people liked it good for them. Everyone has different tastes and whether a movie bombs or succeeds, no one should feel bad for liking what they like.

  • Great list! These movies are so unwatchable, this video is almost unwatchable, although when movies make 4x their production budget (Epic Movie) or 50x their production budget (Winnie the Pooh), you've answered your own question about why they got made, unless you don't understand how the movie business works or why it exists.

  • I really liked Epic Movie, lol. It has some amazing one liners. It's only problem is it seems to drag on, but that's literally ALL of those types of movies, the parodies of other genre movies, they end up dragging on cause they have so much to work with. Also, after all these years, Super Mario Bros has a certain... charm to it. I'd say it's getting better with age. It still sucks, of course, but it's growing on me for some strange reason.

  • The Star Wars Holiday Special was a TV special and not a movie. The segments of the special featuring the classic Star Wars characters weren't great, but it was the in-between segment featuring the 70's variety show superstars of the time that were incredibly cringeworthy. The Emoji Movie was bad, but I've seen much worse cartoons. As for Jack and Jill, Adam Sandler went through a phase of not only making dumb idiotic movies but lazy ones as well, as he would make certain movies on locations where he liked to go on vacation and shoot a movie to take advantage of tax write-offs. Jack and Jill was one of the first of that period, but he made the equally repugnant That's My Boy a couple of years later. I remember spending Thanksgiving with my family the year it came out, and after our dinner they all wanted to see that movie. Fortunately, I chose to see The Muppets instead.
