We saw Dugongs (very similar to a manatee) swimming near a 16 ft saltwater crocodile in Australia. The guide said the crocodiles have no way of killing the Dugong. Crocodiles drown or thrash their victim to death but the dugong can hold it’s breath (plus it is very strong and hard to hold down). The croc can’t thrash it to death b/c of the size and the fact their are really no limbs or neck. The fat also protects it from damage.
