The Iron Snail is a men’s fashion vlog starring a young man named Michael and featuring a snail no bigger than a quarter. The two are set on taking over the world of fashion by creating a clothing line to end all clothing lines. Until then, we’re here to tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the best clothing out there, from the highest quality raw denim jeans to the warmest jackets to the sturdiest boots…the Iron Snail has got you covered. (written by Taylor, though Michael is sometimes known to talk about himself in the third person… xoxo)

  • Absolutely love the fitment notes. It seems like I'm between sizes on basically everything that has ever been made to fit a human body, so I tend to stick to a very select few styles and brands that work for me. This has led to me having a limited style palette, which now makes me feel like I look weird in clothes I'm not familiar with. Having some sizing notes and especially styling notes like adding a belt and ironing goes a long way for giving me something to look for in clothes that look objectively good on me but make me think I look weird. TL:DR please keep doing fitment and styling notes

Also, Taylor Stitch runs big on me too. My favorite jeans I have (and I have tried lots of brands) are a pair of Levis 501 Tapered. Next are BR jeans.

  • Every time you do one of these videos it reminds me that I really need to slow down and be more thoughtful with my purchases. I've ended up with a wardrobe with too many boring basics and fewer outfits I really like as a result. Summer shoes that aren't white sneakers are something I want to explore more. P.S. - Red Tornado makes a dupe of the Filson x Levi's collaboration, not sure how I feel about it but figured people might be interested.

  • Nice video Michael. Where in NH are you moving? I’m moving there too soon as my gf got into grad school there. A video idea: over the course of the next few months, film before and afters of all the pieces you get tailored to show what a difference tailoring can make. It’s clear from this video you’ve got a very specific idea of what you think fits and what does not, and you know how to fix it. As someone who’s newer to fashion, I thought a lot of the outfits fit you great! But I also don’t mind a looser fit. A video like this would be interesting to see how different types of tailoring can affect garments (I.E. hemming pants length vs bringing in the waist size)

  • Also, I love the look of half button old style shirts like the ones at the end of your video but I know I wouldn’t wear them because I think they look best when tucked in and I don’t like wearing tucked-in shirts so it doesn’t work for me. I’ll just have to appreciate the design and settle for that.

  • I’ve been rocking a shorter hem/no break. Aft first I didn’t know and I’ve kind leaned into it. It feels really European and care free. Who knows. Maybe I’ll regret it. Lots of break is back but I don’t like that. Also white on white is worn by Alessandro Squarzi a lot and looks killer.

Seeing as I am an Aussie expat, I feel obligated, but only if they are actually worth throwing down for.

  • Interesting video Michael. I don't know how much research and analysis you do before shooting your videos, because it's a bit weird to do post analysis on things that should've been prepared before making said video. But, I see that you have a better understanding of size and fit now because of this video. I also see that you've been busy with developing your brand and maybe doing a move as well. May I suggest getting an assistant or assembling a team to help with the production of your videos? Still, a great video nonetheless, but it feels too haphazardly put together; maybe because you just got a bunch of stuff from Huckberry/TS and you became very excited to make a vid?
