Written by the Bee Gees, what could possibly be said about the quality of this ballad that has not already been talked about? Although Samantha Sang's only big hit in her singing career, she certainly does a fine job throughout. This could possibly be the best song that the brothers Gibb have ever written!
The past gets more precious as you get older.
So true
There’ll never be music like this again… iconic!!
the past is energized by artists such as this to make us remember about how much everything matters in the first place❤
So true. This was my husbands and my song. I had it played at his funeral.
We
I love how the beegees would share their great songs with so many artists. This version is pure dynamite.
Why they do it? Most, if not all big hit artists likes it or like to doing it! Increases more song exposure and popularity when more covers of their songs are recorded and/or performed by other artist. More so if the artist doing the cover are famous or great themselves!
@@zig4271 actually they didnt have much choice in sharing. they got SO big they hit a backlash where radio stations actually BANNED their music. so the workaround was to have other artists record the music, but not say it was a bee gees song but in this case they did it to help try and get her career get a hit song
@@daveorci4292wow, did not know that but makes sense. Im sure radio stations didn not like everyday tributes to the bee gees
@@zig4271it wasn't a cover they wrote it is all most artist like to write for other ppl as well as themselves either way we get great music fo sho!

I absolutely loved this back in the late 70's!
Essa música foi destruída na voz de uma cantora. Essa música é perfeita, original.
I love this song and Samantha has a lovely voice with The Bee Gees backing her up.
While Barry and Robin wrote the song, Barry was the only brother that gave his voice. And you are correct, it is a great song.
Too bad she didn't have a bigger career
@@James-uu4ko She should have had really, great voice.
She did have a good voice?

Barry gibb no tan sólo Los hermanos gibb los tres componían y el mas genio de los tres fue Maurice.
Riding on the back of Barry Gibb? Song writers write songs, many times to sell to other artists.
Barry OWNED the 70s
Barry's voice is never going to stay in the background....
As a kid seeing this for a second I thought That Barry WAS Samantha, Nooooooooooo, lol
Was thinking exactly the same thing! Barry's shadowing vocals during the verses are dominant then the Bee Gees totally take over the chorus. As it should be .
His Falsetto would shine through a tornado 🌪️🌪️🌪️

Beautiful especially with Barry Gibb floating around in the background lol I love this great classic!! 🩷
Yeah, unmistakeable Barry back there.

@@nikeaholic Probably on the city bus on the way home from high school.
The Brothers Gibb were a force to be reckoned with. with over 1200 songs written and many of them big hits written for other artist's. My heart goes out to Barry, the "last man standing"..to be the oldest of the four and to be the only one surving.
I think he has an older sister who's still living, though.
Really I never new that 🤔
@@erikbunty2016 That's right, that's Lesley, the only girl Gibb, followed by four younger brothers.
Yeah, when one of the twins (I think Robin) got pissy and bailed on a scheduled concert with little notice, they had Lesley fill in for him. That's all it took for him to come running back. F. Y. I. - There was always heavy jealousy, resentment, etc. between the 3 brothers, you know typical male sibling rivalry crap, magnified by being in show biz (ie. hangers on telling each brother "yeah, you're the heart of the band, carrying them as dead weight" typical crap). In the early '90s I saw them at an outdoors forested venue and they were great but fans leaving had to cross the asphalt road that came up from the stage. I was surprised as hell that even then each brother road out of the complex in their own black stretch limo. Egos.
Beegees ruled , from the 60's till today, I'll always listen to them when I hear them .. I'm changing stations on my sirius too if I see or hear them I lock it in
She needed so much more recognition, incredible voice
I will agree that Samantha Samg is very underrated.

My sister used to listen to this song every morning before getting on the school bus back in 1978. I was 13 years old at the time and thought this song was first class.
Magic memory
Far out!
It still is....
I was 15
I like the phrase first class. Stealing it for my own use.
Hearing this today while shopping at Walmart in Florida, I was magically transported back to Bangkok, Thailand in 1977, the first time I ever was really truly head-over-heels in love! That affair never did work out long term. Hearing this just now after so many decades brought tears to my eyes. Never underestimate the power of a great song.
Your, so right. Never under estimate, the power of a great song.
why even start one ?
....................... So true. I hear certain songs and I'm back to a different time.
Totally agree, but I wouldn't admit to shopping at Wal-Mart.
Wow that’s really personal
The Gibb Brothers knew her in Australia when she sang under her name of Cheryl Gray. She had a small hit then when she was only about 15. They certainly did her a big favour giving her this incredible track to record! One of their best songs ever!

6 years old, riding in the back seat of my mom's '69 VW Bug down Overland Avenue on L.A.'s Westside when she picked me up from school. I held my Snoopy lunchbox and watched the world go by while songs like this played on our AM car radio. Every time I hear this song, I smile, sigh and remember how 1977 was such a good year.
