I feel like I've betrayed myself by not watching any of bivols fights. I love how he uses his back leg as a spring to launch counters. Really nice boxer style all around.

Watch the Pascal fight, the way he lunges forward with the right, steps back and forcefully lunges frontwards again with the right multiple times is a thing of beauty. pascal is also a heavy hitter. I got Bivol winning against CLENela AlvaROIDS on pts today. IF its scored fairly. Id like to see Bivol unleash more like he did against joe smith in the last 10 secs of the 12th rd. After a high paced and ton of energy expenditure from Bivol, I’m surprised he’s able to unleash that attack at the end. Incredible stamina and very efficient. To be able to sustain the same amount of energy from the 1st to 12th rd, this man has phenomenal conditioning. Definitely watch the Pascal fight, I believe Pascal’s build is closer to CLENelas build, and Bivol took some body shots and a couple of uppercut from Pascal but was never fazed. Today will definitely be interesting. Looking forward to it.

Along with guys like shakur and crawford, bivols secret weapon is his distance management. He is always in a position to avoid punches and counter effectively as well as quick enough to get in and get out on combos. Truly a complete fighter.

I'll always like Joe Smith Jr for ending Bernard "Bigot" Hopkins career. Most of the time I can separate the athlete from the person... but in his case, he brought his American racism into a fight with a Welsh fighter. I don't care if Calzaghe even backed him up saying it was to sell the fight, most people knew it wasn't. If that was an acceptable way to sell a fight, every "bad guy" would do it. Mayorga was the ultimate "bad guy" and he always had far more entertaining ways to sell a fight.

I watched the whole fight. Bivol’s legs didn’t seem tired all 12 rounds. I believe jab, movement, and in & out counter punches like manny’s would be his key to victory. Smith fought at a much faster pace than canelo would as a pressure fighter. If canelo wins, I say he’d win by a counter punch like he did to Amir khan. Otherwise, I see him getting outbox.

The DAZN commentators said this same thing early on but it's not that accurate. He actually does incorporate it when he needs to. He broke down Pascal to the body just fine and that was one fight prior to this one. He was probably just so unbothered by Smith's pressure that he didn't feel a need to slow him down at all.

What a great fight. Bivol really demonstrated how much skill he has, terrific pivoting, balance, ring IQ, economy of punches to keep the on-rushing Smith Jr off balance. Smith was a little too jumpy in the early rounds, maybe a combination of taking hard shots and not pacing himself lead him to gas out from the latter middle rounds. I really want to see Bivol in with Beterbiev, even Gvozdyk (though that's not likely as Gvozdyk wouldn't want to risk another loss right after Beterbiev), Browne, Ramirez, heck - this division is so deep I think it's the best division in terms of depth of talent.

A sidebar: Greatly enjoyed the engaging, focused and civil commentary as well as the interpersonal chats. Sometimes commentators get on their soapbox forgetting their place in the food chain. It can get in the way of watching a bout. This was a refreshing exception IMHO. Kudos to the commentators. And hat's off to Dmitry Bivol--what a ring general.

@@punchforpound2808 Well Beterbiev is a big strong light heavyweight, Bivol is a super middleweight fighting at light heavyweight because of the prestige and money in the division. He can make 168 easily but it wouldn't make sense for him to go down when he's a champ at 175 now, unless it's a big money fight (a la Canelo). I would actually favor Beterbiev to knock Bivol out, but I would not be surprised if Bivol was able to outbox him and outpoint him in a close 12 round fight.

A Very Technical Fight. These Guys were both in Great Shape!
Classic matador and bull matchup. Bivol fights almost exactly like another great Russian fighter named Kostya Tszyu! Excellent balance and footwork, constant pressure and can punch going backwards or laterally. Smith is strictly straight ahead and pretty much has to plant and throw plus having only a mediocre jab. Bivol has that "educated left hand" as one great trainer use to say. And punches in combinations!
Did you see his last few fights. He's used his jab much more and his has been really effective at setting up other shots and combos. He seems to keep improving.
@@crisjones9344 It took Canelo too long to stop Saunders and Plant. And only did so cuz they tired. Canelo will be carrying more extra weight. Bivol is used to moving around at 175. Nelo aint. Bivol heritage..Russian and Korean are something to consider. They dont quit like other races do!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Spence could possibly face and compete against a MW, but not a SMW. and thats only 21 lb difference. They should have another division between 175 and 200.
