  • Street Hassle is one of Lou’s great albums. ‘Street Hassle’ the song is a genuine masterpiece.

    • Did you know Bruce Springsteen narrates the middle section of the song!! He was in the same studio at the time, recording Darkness on the Edge of Town!!

  • The first two Quicksilver albums are the only ones that I owned. I'm very glad that Dino was not on those LPS. I remember the first time I saw the cover of the first album. Some kid that sat in front of me in school bought it to class. It's funny that when that kid graduated from high school, he went right into the music industry, working for Capitol records as an intern, I believe (1972). He was a very smart guy. A prodigy, you might say. The music seems a little dated now. Maybe I listen to them once a year or so. I had never heard of the Walker bros until the internet came along. Then I heard them featured on the BBC weekly radio show "Sounds of the 60's," featuring radio personality Tony Blackburn, ex Radio Caroline DJ. Could never really get into Lou Reed. I could be wrong, but he seemed a little too intense for my taste. Did that guy ever smile?

  • Binaural recordings were meant to be listened mainly with headphones and give you the feeling you were sitting right in the middle of the band, not sure if it really works though. Lou Reed also recorded The Bells and the live Take No Prisoners that way. Street Hassle is an absolute masterpiece, especially side one. Take No Prisoners is hilarious with Lou in his Lenny Bruce mode. The Bells is jazzy but nothing special. Thank you for this great Lou centric whack-a-mole!

    • @@mazzysmusic Binaural is recorded with the microphone is the "ears" of a dummy head. When the playback is heard through headphones (preferably open air) the stereo presentation is very realistic.

  • Morning Mazzy :-) Tunnel Records….what a wonderful store…I’m from the UK, little market town in the fens of East Anglia, and thanks to you going to Tunnel Records a year or so ago, I ordered a T shirt from them. The guys sent me the T shirt I ordered and gifted me a second free! Along with a really nice letter plus a load of stickers…truly lovely folk there. And now, you’ve truly made my day as you first showcase a Steven Stills Live Album I didn’t even knew existed! I love that guy; had, I thought, all the LP’s he’s ever been a part of…..and it’s totally special in another way(along with the Tree’s album which I have, because they’re both from 1971 and 1971 was the best year of my life. That was the year I met the girl who became my wife who blessed me with her presence until she passed away from cancer in 1995 at the far too young age of just 40. Miss her every day. So thanks brother :-) Love and peace Tony

  • I saw Lou Reeds New Sensations tour, great show. That is an under rated record of Lou's. When you showed Street Hastle, I was reminded of Simple Mind's cover of that song, which was a good.

  • Ahhhh... The Drift is a VERY intense listen. A long, long, long way from the Walker Brothers... And now you've prompted me to dig out New Sensations and Street Hassle again, thanks Mazzy. And Trees too - On The Shore is a wonderful album, I love the title track and their long, languid take on Sally Free and Easy.

  • A binaural recording is ment to be played on headphones only. Small microphones are put in the ears of a artificial head. The idea is that if the mics pick up the sound as your ears do and that sound is reproduced on headphones so a speaker direct on your ear, you hear realistic 3d sound. I don't see how that will work with electric amplified music. It works with acoustic music. And not allways. But there exist some startlingly realistic recordings.
