Agreed, the emotion is so real. Beautifully done
You guys should invite her to your next Sion album 😉. Imagine this girl and Howard on the same track. Chills
I love u bb.
💯 Jared. Everyone is very tuned into each other. That's one thing for everyone to be very talented and another to be able to bring those talents together and put together something that gives a person goosebumps
just found these guys last night.. ddn stop listening to them yet..
CUT DOWN THE ALTAR
The way she amps herself up at the beginning is fantastic. You can tell she's feeling that intro, and ready to just really get into the song... I love it
Right where is the alter? I"m cutting that shit down!!
OBSESSED
@@garyv969 probably Canadá 🤔 Anyways you’ll need this 🪓
She actually screams "Cut down the alder!" her family lineage is lumberjacks and bowyers....
I love the way she squares up with the microphone like a boxer against their opponent
Boxers don’t square up brah. They want blows to glance-a boxer
@@Rocketman200mph ok
@@adamreinhardt9135 as a fighter myself he isn't wrong, squaring up makes you an easier target to hit 😅 makes sense you wouldnt know the difference if youve never trained
I noticed that too! Love it! Great observation
The seamless switch between scream and clean at 3:38 is unreal. Very few people understand the level of vocal control one needs to do that, and even fewer people can actually do that. That is absolutely mind blowing.
For real. Only other vocalist I’ve heard do the melodic growling that well is Peter Tagren and he can’t do the clean like this. She’s the total metal core package
and literally even screaming on the right pitches at the end of the phrase?? absolute legendary shit
the only dude that I think can nail that kinda technique is Brian Wille from Currents... he's pretty good I must say
Best part of the song it sounds so “real” like visceral emotion to me.
@@dylanharris3110abso freaking lutly 🤟🤙
Bloody fucking hell. That decision to switch to screaming during the high part at the end was one of the best things that has happened in music. Emotion over 9000.
The first time I saw this video, I was like wow, the screams during that section really give the song that extra heaviness, and was even more goose bump inducing.
Yeah that was so badass
We need a new studio version with those... It's out of this world
it was brutal yes, but the highs add more intensity for me personally. It's the same with Jinjer's pisces, where tatiana does the "searching for a hook to catch on, and see their sun beam" with a high voice on the video but growls it live (the album has both overlayed onto each other, but i prefer only highs)
@@d00mnoodle i get what you're saying, it's probably personal preference. i really love this song, doesn't matter if this version or the album version. i don't even favour this version because its more brutal but rather because the screams just carry much more emotion for me.. but again, personal preference. i think i remember an interview with tatiana where she's saying she's screaming the high part live because she's afraid to mess it up and thus prefers to stay in her safe zone. i mean i get that, but i'd love her to do that high part in pisces live :D
I prefer this over the recorded version, you can hear how powerful her voice is in the chorus
since i found this one i can't listen to the rec one, so yeah you are damn right
@@millebrasco I can't exactly explain what's so different other than the power in her voice - especially the ending verse/chorus. Gives me goosebumps like every time. Recorded version is still great, but her voice here is phenomenal
@@pelicanine So for me it was on the one hand the fact that during a live take she gave the best of her brute, beautiful voice so flawlessly - on the other hand you can see that she totally feels the lyrics and the music, and that makes it for me again many times more intensively. Do you understand what I mean? Needless to say she's also beautiful lol so it's a win-win-win for me :) it's just a shame it's not on spotify!
I say the same thing!!!
me too
The way she screams "WATCHING" around the 3:30 mark gives me chills every time. I can't stop listening to this version!
She's insane. I've been listening to that Eternal Blue album a lot lately. She's incredible.
the same for me!!!
I kept listening to that part over and over. SO GOOD!
It's easy to imitate these fry screams she does. 😊
I just discovered this version and I’m OBSESSED! She gives me chills!!!!

Sic ass lyrics! So much emotion and powerful meaning.
And the deliverance... Just wow.
It’s fuckin LIT!!! 🔥
Artistry. Not too often someone can vocally command this emotionally across such a range.
Someone held an infinity stone and I can tell.
The balance of screaming and singing in this whole song is fucking legendary. Those last 20 seconds though. Wow
Yeah. Exactly this. The control in that last section is unreal.
Yeah, at 3:38 is insane

In my mind, 3:32 to end places Courtney among the best to have ever done it. INCREDIBLE performance 💙💙💙
She did and outstanding performance... man what a way to finish a song!!
Yes yes yes!!! Swapping from scream to sing from one syllable to the next is INSANE and she kills it!
I DID NOT expect that!! Gave me chills!!
I think it's a tie between her and Andy for best metal vocalist right now.
Legit think that outro is better than the recorded version aha. That was sick.
I almost expected a "I did it" at the end. God, you gotta love her and her voice. Good for a SINGER
Duuuuude SAME!!! " Aiiii deeeed eet"

When Courtney seamlessly goes from singing to screaming, PERFECTION. I get chills every singe time I rewatch this! I need this live version to be for sale!
omg why am i just discovering this now
The closing part is a masterpiece in voice control and tone. Unbelievable.
I am addicted to the last bit when she screams it made me instantly fall in love with her
God I love it, sends chills down my spine every time. I literally watch this version just for that part. Needs to be released as it’s own version
@@andyc821 same ;D
The mix of clean and scream at the end is imo so much better than the studio version. So much control in her voice. Unreal. How the same person can do this and then something as brutal as Holy Roller, I'll never be able to explain.
i get goosebumps everytime at the end
Holy shit she murdered that ending!!!
What do you mean I've been listening to this song on loop for 1.5 yrs only to find out she was doing everything in the vocals. :0 I am beyond impressed at the range like damn. My mental concerts are updated.
This version needs to be on spotify/itunes/etc ASAP
Oh man, the last minute of this song is insane. How good is Courtney!!!! I got chills 💙

Who else has already watched it 10 times and relooped the end 100 times ?
I was so amazed how she switched so easily from even angelic-like voice to a powerful dont-fuck-with-me voice/scream and even her postures. Her face transformed. Lived it!
The fact that there is literally not a thing wrong with it and that it is even arguably better than the recording AND it's one take is insanity. the talent and dedication to achive this level is amazing

The only other singer that I have seen do it this effectively and effortless is Daniel Tompkins from Tesseract. His vocal sing-throughs are a sight to behold. I've got a question. Why is it always important to point out that someone is female or male? I mean she is an amazing vocalist who is maybe better then most other vocalist out there. Isn't this all that is important?
When she hits the last “could all be yours” blows my mind. So much power, strength in it, but it sounds so hollow at the same time.
@@TrueFireForest94 because the metal scene has always been a male-dominated industry, like many others. yeah true. Wasn't really a fan of this band purely because I thought her screams were pretty bad... but she's improved a lot. Her screaming is close to on par with most metal bands now. This is better than the recording version! How's that possible 🤔 ❤ "held the power of a dying sun" like whaaaaa?!! Fr this is amazing 😍
Something I don't see mentioned as much as the incredible technical ability and development that Courtney has is her lyricism. One of my favourite writers on paper, let alone colouring those lyrics with the level of performance we get treated to in these videos.Theres such duality between vulnerability and furious, righteous, raw outward emotion. There's a slew of music out there that sits at one side of the pendulum or the other, but there's spectrums in single songs with this band. And theres moments to me where the most vulnerable lyrics are delivered with hair raising aggression, and lines that are sung softly that are more cutting than any drop or breakdown. Beautiful and incredibly skillful writing.
Well said. Her phrasing is incredibly dynamic, delicate, powerful and her shot selection is intelligent. Where to kick up the aggression to lift the segment. There’s provocative nuance to the lyrical content that is undeniably beautiful, tragic.
Couldn’t agree more! I feel like Silent Planet also fits this bill. The vocals match the emotion of the lyrics in order to better convey the intent.
Even the way she puts emphasis on certain words & syllables in her lyrics is unique. She’s definitely a great storyteller.
Few bands can actually give you goosebumps from this level of talent and emotion. Spiritbox is one of them. 🤘
Gotta love that “fight me, bro” energy during the breakdown. Killer performance!
