A "waterproof' mattress, by it's very construction, cannot be cool. By it's construction, to be able to block moisture, it creates a barrier that keeps heat from moving away. If the pad/protector can keep moisture off the mattress, then it will also keep moisture and heat next to the body that created it. IOW, the waterproofing is what makes it a warmer/hotter mattress protector, because its construction blocks a mattresses ability to move body heat away. If the moisture you are referring to is body sweat, then find a mattress and/or topper that is designed to wick away moisture so that any moisture has a change to move away from the body. And then, launder it more often. If you have a different need to waterproof, then that is understandable. Unfortunately, waterproofing and not increasing body sleep temperature, are opposing factors.
The weakest part of the bed is the frame. I have had to add screws to each slat to prevent continual sliding off the frame. I have needed to do regular maintenance inspections. Based on my experience, I think that you should expect to do the same. Keep a drill and wood screws handy. The slats are too short for the width of the frame.
Your written review suggests that people who weigh to over 230lbs may be better supported with the Plus version. However, how does that work with heavier people who are also side sleepers, who need pressure relief at the hips and shoulders? Your written review is lacking needed information detailing why you recommend the Winkbed in Firm, and the Plus, which you say is firmer than the regular firm. You give full scores for both the Winkbed firm and Winkbed Plus, for heavier weight side sleepers. The problem is that I've tested a number of mattresses, including the Saatva classic, latex hybrid, and HD. Most reviewers, such as you, recommend the HD for heavier weight side sleepers. However, I tried the HD and found that it was NOT comfortable for my heavy size as a side sleeper. The HD comes in a single firmness, like the Winkbed Plus. My experience counters the recommendation that the HD is good and great for heavier weight side sleepers. It was not comfortable, though it is indeed firm. For me, the Saatva Classic Lux-Firm and their latex hybrid were the most comfortable firmness for my size and side sleeping. The issue, problem, is that I am lucky to live near a Saatva showroom so that I can try the mattresses myself. I, we, can't do that with most of the mattresses you review, such as the Winkbed, Bear, and other "bed in a box" mattresses. That is why it is vital to have better information to explain how a mattress feels compared to others, especially comparing bed-in-box mattresses to mattresses that a customer/person can physically try out locally. That would give we customers a better reference by which to compared with mattresses that we can't try out first. Being able to exchange or refund a shipped only, bed-in-box, mattress is great. However, the same is true for mattresses that are available in a local store. The problem is the exchanges take time, can be more trouble than expected, and even cost additional money. And if a customer needs to refund a mattress or exchange, they will need to buy a mattress before the refund so that they have something to sleep on when the refunded mattress is taken away. With an exchange some manufacturers require the customer to order, pay for, the new mattress, and then be refunded only once the previous mattress is taken away.

Got the wink luxury firm and my shoulders are in pain… sleeps great for the back. Weight 205 wife weighs around the same. Her shoulders and collar bones hurt as well.

Winkbed and Luuf are both manufactured in the same town in Wisconsin......Coincidence?....I think not!
There are many different mattress manufacturers in Arizona. I'm offering that factoid just as a data point, and not making any conclusions about that. YMMV. 😊
Unfortunately this bed absolutely destroyed my back for a couple months and the stitching was coming apart and looked very rushed. Will never recommend this bed to anyone. Tried both the luxury firm and softer but returned both.
