And opal that does have shiny bits as opal with colour, when you go mining with a few blokes youll find theyll start yelling "colour, colour" from the other side of the mine when they find something

    @Haplo-san@Haplo-san4 жыл бұрын
    • Definitions are important, the escape plan could reference tunnels and not shafts and if you've been using shafts all your life instead of tunnels, imagine the position you'd be in, fantastical once you are in "the know", but actually consider not knowing some things you know, and you'll start to see why people correct some people, it makes sense.

    • "Where you live, Alabama?" "Yes..." "Oh of course, that's why you don't know." Jesus Christ, I almost messed myself. Clearly Destin was just catering to the assumption that he didn't have as a profound grasp on American English as most other English speaking people with that much of an accent, as to be polite but dude totally schooled him in a very funny yet polite way. Humor knows none, yet all languages. I remember when it was ok to use it to break the ice instead of nowadays where; yeah...

    • I'm a little late to the party, but shafts are vertical entry passages to tunnels or mines, tunnels are underground passageways (note the non specific degree of the direction the hole takes), and an Adit is a horizontal tunnel.

He was from Poland, he was in his late 60s, he had undergrad and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, software engineering, and electrical engineering (all from communist Poland, so basically worthless here in the 80s), he ran a Fiat plant in Poland for 5 years, he ran a church hospital for a while, and he was a machinist for 16 years. He taught me basically everything I know, indirectly. He loved to talk and I loved to listen so much that when I was stuck on a machine setup, I had to weigh the tradeoff in my head every time, do I learn how to think things through by myself and potentially spend an hour on this, or do I go ask Tad, get the setup done in five minutes, and end up spending an hour talking about nuns 😂 sometimes when I hadn't seen him in a while, he'd wander over to my cell, drop the FILTHIEST joke you've ever heard, and then walk away giggling. Absolutely delightful character.

  • This is what i love out the outback and the bushies, doesnt matter where your from, the land and life is tough, they all end up the same, direct, usually very friendly if you dont bore them and can put in a solid days work, dont be weak and realise, you are not smarter than them out "out here" Fantastic people, fantastic scenery and a night sky that will blow your mind. i love getting out bush whenever i can. Awesome channel.

  • While I haven't used the Great Courses Plus myself, a lot of channels I watch advertise them and I know viewers there have had pretty good experiences with it.

    • I was on the edge the last time they sponsored you, but this new video has sold me. You meet the strangest people and do the craziest things. So I'm signing up. Do me a solid and tell your wife, next time, okay?

    • I'm sort of curious if The Great Courses is still relevant as a paid service. I don't doubt the quality of their content, but with the amount of free University level courses there are from places like MIT open courseware and Coursera, I'm just wondering if the value of their service makes it worthwhile over the free content.

  • I've had Coober Pedy on my bucket list since I first heard about it, probably as a high school student. It's not just about pretty earrings, these are amazing, beautiful stones. They are SO beautiful that diamond merchants realized they could easily become more popular than diamonds, so they invented a myth that opals are bad luck. Their formation is fascinating and nothing else is really like the beauty of opals. If they weren't so fragile I would have one in my wedding ring. My husband, who had the ring designed for me, had a gorgeous Sri Lankan blue moon stone set into it instead.

  • Destin, this is one of your best videos yet. Not just because your showing Australia, but because your enthusiasm in the video is infectious and the expert (dunno how to spell his name) is an absolute pleasure to watch.
