RAW video Lexus Of Clearwater BAIT & SWITCH. Ad says 31k miles, car actually has 43k. GOT KICKED OUT

On Friday 4/30/2024 I went to look at a Lexus IS250C at the dealership; Lexus Of Clearwater. The car is advertised as having 31,077 miles on it. However, in reality, the car had 43,xxx miles on it. The people at the dealership responded when I pointed this out by saying things like: 'It's just a clerical error', 'it's not a bait & switch', 'we are an AutoNation dealership, we are too big to do anything like this intentionally', 'we will get it corrected'. The main reason I went to look at the car was because of the low miles. On 5/2/2024, the advertised mileage on the car was still the same incorrect 31,077. I went back to look at the car again on that day, 5/2/2024. I brought it to the attention of the staff and a manager that the incorrect mileage had not been corrected. This is the video from that day. A manager ended up asking me to leave, kicking me out. This is the second time I have had bad bad / scammy type of experience at Lexus Of Clearwater. The first time was in the service department. They put the incorrect weight of oil in the car, during the inspection they missed a leaky radiator, misdiagnosed a starter as being bad ($1500 estimate), lied about having checked the transmission fluid, and some other issues as well.

    • Do you expect the potential buyer to not record when he sees that the dealer is involved in underhanded business practices? Does it hurt your feeling that a business known for dishonesty continues to do these kinds of things? Having a secretary make a new flyer to post on the car and making a phone call to the web developer to make a two second change to the price which would post immediately, proves without a doubt this was a bait and switch.

  • This is the kind of bs you deal with buying used cars from dealers honestly. I cant tell you how many times ive called a dealership to inquire about a used vehicle only to show up and for there to be undisclosed damage, incorrectly reported mileage, incorrect year. It happens all the time. And while not always intentional. Sometimes it absolutely is but its usually easy to spot if its intentional or not by the reaction. Judgeing by just how everyone you talked to immediatly loaded up the excuse cannon is just a indication on its own. It sucks but if you feel like its sketchy, tell them hey due to this that and the other thing. i no longer feel comfortable putting a deal together at this time. Then move on and save yourself the frustration.

I was looking at a gs350 from them with 31k miles on it. they said they did an inspection of the car and had no issues other than they were going to put new tires on. I brought it to a mechanic the day after and turns out the car had a fucking knocking engine with only 31k miles. • regardless of whether it was a hiccup or a bait and switch as you claim, the sales person isn't involved in those stickers, online pricing, etc.. So I don't know why trying to confront her. You can just make an offer based on what you think it is worth with the higher miles or move on. I don't think you ever worked as a car sales person. They have a lot of pressure to move cars based on the restrictions they are given, and ultimately the final sale price is up to the finance manager, even if the buyer is going to pay cash, the finance manager runs the operation.
