I think, with the shell being in the state that it is, you are afforded an excellent opportunity to make a safer and stiffer cab. Maybe a rollhoop inside the old uprights and along the inside of the rocker panel and along the doorframes
Goodbye rust, hello shiny new metal! 🫡😎 great work buddy!
Slowly :D
I must say, without running the risk of kiising your ass too much, but you are a true inspiration to me. Over the past several years, you have really helped me learn and gain the confidence to restore my car myself. Keep up the good job, and I am very appreciative!
This needs a 2-3" roof chop so badly..
My favourite part of any build cutting out the rust and replacing with fresh metal , so satisfying
It’s amazing how it goes from looking hopeless to looking very well sorted
This is what i would call a rust bucket. Most people would consider this too far gone. But you sir, you are something else :-)
I'm enjoying this F600 new/old build as much as your other builds. Keep up the great work.
The opportunities and necessity for you to "try again" in your work and then to actually "try again" and succeed are admirable. Thanks
That was quite difficult to reconstruct, but the result is very beautiful and solid 👍🏻🙂
Great Vid Jeff and as always the Beautiful Mrs Jeff Sharing Knowledge Thanks Guys
This type of show is why i never miss your show making a curved metal part with a wood sandwich lov it
This is how it was made 50ies 60ies 70ies
I'd happily watch this project exclusively for as long as it takes
The tack and 45° cut through the 2 panels saves a lot of time when doing these types of old school panels
Would it not leave behind the sparks, that form the rust eventually, on the inside?
great episode. really skillful and patient with the shaping and trimming and welding. And as expected a truly professional result! keep 'em coming!
I dig the buck idea. Works well. Hammer forming is so satisfying to me! Looking good from California!!
That's a nice tool. Congratulations!
Some great ideas in there, as usual this is going to end up great
You're a lucky man Jeff. loving the content as always!
Wow mega progress this week
Love this project. Feel like I learned something as well
Good job.. you may end up with a blue oval on your wall soon :-)
I set my alarm just to woke up and watch this
To make the groved rear plate just make a wood buck and make a slightly oversize panel to fit in place. You'll sort that easily.
NICE WORK
I’m just amazed at your ability to weld nothing to rust and get it looking great 😂
Jeff! Enjoying the truck restomod. PITA repro panels are "fun", eh? Looking forward to seeing how you incorporate the new patch panels with the "patina" look you will be going for.
Excellent craftsmanship Jeff. I hope your next project is as rusty or more rusty than this !
All Hail the Algorithm 🙌
I've said it before, but I'm going to say it again, you are indeed a master fabricator Jeff. You tackle stuff that most panel shops would baulk at, AND improve the finish with such perfection. Your tig skills are just amazing for self taught. I'm just in Awe.
Great work.
All Hail the algorithm! O wait, wrong channel ;-) Great work again, Jeff!
Mrs. Jeff, you look beautiful. I didn't follow your facts though. Greetings from South Africa!!! ❤❤😂😂
Cool Project 🇳🇿🏁🇩🇰👌🏻😎🛠
thanks for another awesome video, the quality of your videos matches your quality of work absolutely amazing for a two person operation.
Great job!!! 😊👍👏
Love seeing a craftsman at work! Nice one Jeff!
Your skill and thought process in working amazes me. Keep up the great work.
this is really good, intricate work Jeff.....it would look good all painted......just saying......
Reproduction panels are never great. It's very much a lottery. Keep going Jeff. It'll look top notch soon enough.
Ur fabrication skills have come on leaps and bounds. Ur a fabrication guru now. Keep the video's coming Jeff. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Hey up nice work on the truck mate
Great job again Jeff! Excellent panel beating skills! 👌🏻🏴🇬🇧
Just in time .
Brilliant
Being built Ford tough⚒👍
As I was watching this I was thinking like johan that this might be a time to look at things that would come in handy further down the line I am clueless about this type of work but just from a builder of furniture and homes I always am thinking about wire chases, plumbing , lighting, extra storage etc. Don't want to sound like an armchair expert you are an awesome builder but was just thinking about those things that can get lost in the moment.
I have already thought about all of that ;)
Ciao from Italy and a nod to the Mysterious Algorythm...
Slow and steady
Great job!👍❤️🇨🇦
Once again witnessed and learned something new. Also, nice jump on subscribers after your visit overseas, well deserved Jeff!
It all came from the 16 minute Alfarrari vid ;)
Amazing Jeff! your metal working skills are top notch
Absolutely gorgeous
Looks stronger than factory
Nice work!
Lovely work Jeff !
Hi Jeff. I’ve been watching you for years, loving and learning from what you do. I appreciated the quality of your Mig welds across the back of the cab onto the box channel. Having just bought a Unimig 185 recently, could you please share the voltage, wire feed and gas settings, along with the wire size for comparison to help me dial in my welder? Keep up the awesome work.
Different machine. Your machine should have a guide for settings on it.
Job well done mate.
I think you should paint part of it and change the name to Frankenthauler 😉
Fab skills are truely impressive, but surely you would have been better off finding a better cab even if you had to import from the states. Not a lot left of that cab! Really interested to see how you pull of the patina, I'm a fan. For sure it would be way easier and less time consuming to do a full repaint, getting that patina to match on the 50% you have to replace is an art.
This cab is in pretty good shape for 70 years old, and anything better from the US would be left hand drive and by the time I got it cost a small fortune, so no.
The new shrinker maybe needs to be bolted onto a big brake drum or disc just a thought 😂
nice job. Not easy to deal with these panels. The result would be EOM :)
that's a lot of work, could you not make a space frame, using the angles, of the cab. and then sheetmetal the rest?
Saw you at Holbrook submarine rest area last Friday 10.30 ish
Haha, You should have said hi ;)
@@HomeBuiltByJeff I know. Strange seeing somebody in real life that you watch on Tele. I was driving a coach and (like a kid) waived from the drivers seat. Now 45 senior citizens know about your great skill set and work produced from the shed. I started viewing at the 680g build and still hooked. All the best
@@jackbrown6913 Haha. Glad you are along for the ride :D
Jeff, as you rebuild this cab, I’m curious why you’re not fitting it to the new chassis at the same time. Perhaps there’s an opportunity to optimize some of what you’re doing to make installation to the new chassis easier?
What about 10 kilos of Bondo..... N all the rust problems are gone 😉😉😉
You are making rapid progress on that cab saint Jeff. .. I doubt you'll get all sides of them repair pieces to match as you say they're a copies. .. But nonetheless good job on complex compound angles.. . I was thinking about the small outer centre section. Perhaps might be qn idea to wait before filling that in until you test fit the cab on the chassis/frame. Because you'll have access to that lower structural beam for bolt or welding in cab mounts? .. Geez not sure I'd want to go 70mph on that early 26hp Ford. Looks scary.😬😱
Ive been following you since you started harry, way back in 2015 when my daughter was born, love the progression, I always said your channel deserves more subscribers and views back then, I still think it deserves more, Although I love all your projects, I am a little sad about a patina build only because your prep paint and finishes on your projects is always TOP NOTCH! Its your projects not mine though, I just watch ! PS: is that an Ontario Motorcycle on the left vertical post of your spray booth? I see some Canadian Car plates there and around, I saw an Ontario one and Alberta one? Could you sell me the Ontario Motorcycle plate? Someone just stole my Plate off my 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 and it started with an 8 (my lucky number) I noticed the plate starts with an 8, id gladly buy it and pay shipping so i can have another 8 plate to register my bike too!
I can't sell you plates that viewers paid to send to me. They live on for them in the background of my videos.
Jeff, have thought of media blasting the inside cab, floor and bulkhead but to still retain the Patina outside?Andy
have you considered painting all that heavily rusted but still solid inner metal with some rust blast before hitting it with etch primer? thats what i did. works well and you just dust off the converted rust as a white powder with a wire brush before you paint.
Here in the Midwest US, we have a saying: "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes." Does that describe your weather?
Close ;)
Coaster Bus Chassis… Hi Jeff I’ve got several diffs for that vehicle if you are looking to change ratios .. I’ve got an RB20 with V6 Holden conversion Auto 4 speed torq-lock converter . She runs great 👍
I do need to change the diff ratio so it will be able to sit on 110 on the freeway.
Hi Geoff Do you know by any chance what the gross axle weight is of the coaster bus? .. Not..the gross vehicle weight. but what is the maximum legal weight on the rear axle?
Our old Coaster motorhome with 1HZ did cruise along at 100-110 as long as it wasn’t too much of a hill. I’m not 100% if the diff was changed when it was first converted, but I suspect so. Still not quick and bogged down on the bigger highway hills.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff hi Jeff The ratio I tried with my 86 coaster with the v6 was a 4 cylinder diesel diff.. it was all good and maintained 110 kmph at 2400 rpm but the motor and transmission couldn’t take the harsher punishment of 120 kmph . In a way I tried it to destruction doing that .. not intentionally. The spline drive of box with torqconverter was 50% removed and all concerned said I should buy a lotto tick asap with the luck of getting it home. However it turns out It would of been better if the shaft had failed as the box was severely pushing on the crank and wore out the end float thrust bearings by 5mm . That push pressure was what caused major damage to both box and motor and converter. Basically a throw away job. I fitted up a complete new second hand one for $700 from a wrecker so Holden is the way to go. Vx vy vt unit is great value.. Stuart the max rear axle weight would be at tyre pressure max written on a tyre x4 I would of thought… About 2 ton ( 2000 kg) without fulcrum effect if you hang down on tow bar chassis point. With a long wheelbase coaster it would be less..
No worries Jeff , poor dolly, he's going to take her out, and get her hammered. Make the templates for the rear infill panel from mdf and other scrap pieces of mdf.
I have an easier method ;)
Do you have a link or build for the deep throat you built around the new Kaka shrinker/stretcher? It looks DIY and not the same as the larger more expensive cast Kaka. Thanks!
The whole thing is new. Just a Chinese made thing.
Jeff. Do you know how many and what kind of body mods will be needed to fit on the Bus chassis?
🍺👏👍🏻
Commenting…..do you know what would be cool……….following up with the owner of the 240z in the states to see how it is going……….I am biased as a 240z owner…
Its morning

Hi Jeff, love your show, do you have a file sander? The are great for cleaning up welds in small fiddly sections of body work 👌🏻
