  • Osaka's movement is getting sharp. One deep run and she will be back. She is gonna be threat to every top player this year. Realistic target should be top 20. But who knows she captures a slam. Never write multi slam off

    • Don't know about that - I'm happy she gets some more match play under her belt and gets into the top 100 this year. With all the current competition, getting all those points to make it to the top 20... mmmh very unlikely

  • The swift upturn of Naomi Osaka continues in each passing step. It points out that she will be more stable in the second portion of the season. This rapid development of Osaka is a huge intimidation to the top-seeded competitors. From time to time, she hesitates to complete some rallies and combats at the particular points, her experience and competency are the hallmark of Japanese tennis competitor. She keeps making the colossal improvements within this continuum.

    • Iga is great player but when big hitter hits correctly to her forehand and rushes her. She can be exposed. U have to patient and accurate but she isn't unbeatable and has weak seeve

  • All it takes normally is for Osaka to move well, which she apparently did here. Most of her overhitting unforced errors come from poor stance/movement and since her game is not a compromising type she would invariably rush the shot to try to overcome that deficit to cause an error. I also like Samsonova's kick serve on the ad court. One of the best in womens' tour.

  • Osaka and other attack players can't do much damage on this clay sorry hardcourt which is made for topspin merchants like iga. Like seriously where is parity? Court speed should be medium to help every playstyle

  • Can anyone explain how the ranking works in WS? For example if Naomi goes deep into the quarters or semis of a major 1000, what will be her new ranking? Or simply what does she needs to do to break into the top 32 again??

    • It's pretty simple. Forecast for Naomi: (Round) - (Points) - (Around Rank) QF - 473 - 153 SF - 648 - 118 F - 908 - 79 W - 1258 - 49 To get into Top 32 she need (W+SF) or (F+F) at Sunshine Double.

    • What is WS? Each tournament, Slams, 1000's, 500's etc. give you points for the round you reach. People are ranked by total points in the past 52 weeks. For example, winning this tournament gives you 1000 ranking points.

  • Its amazing how someone can watch matches like this and claim modern day women's tennis is boring. Just look at the power and athleticism. There are so many matches like this in every tournament on the women's side. There's intense competition. The moment your level drops a bit, it's over for you. Tennis is forever going to be enjoyable irrespective of who retires.
