DIY Sandblaster Cabinet - Homemade Sandblaster cabinet - MWIG #5
In order to facilitate the process of restoring old tools for removing the rust from old objects and coatings I needed a sandblaster.
I already bought a sandblaster but I had to do something against dust, so for that I needed a Sandblaster Cabinet, I believe that I will need harbor freight shot blasting in my next videos.
So I decided to build one abrasive blasting cabinet by myself.
In this video I'll show you how I made a Sandblaster Cabinet / Sand blasting Chamber.
If you liked this video don't forget to subscribe guys.
I really need your support to make new videos.
Also write comments about this video or if you have any question.
See you soon!

    • Hello, I am curious about the aluminum panels that you used to construct the walls and the door of your blasting cabinet? They appear to be an extruded product, is that correct? Were they surplus material that you repurposed for use in this project? Their design is quite unusual. They appear to be made for a specific purpose. Their profile is interesting. They were a good choice for your project. The end product looks almost factory-built.

    • Hallo Timothy, i used the material from scrap yard. Greetings

    • @@meanwhileinthegarage Thanks! Actually I just learned that by scrolling down and reading through the viewer comments. Where are you located? I'm American, living in the Philippines. I love to use salvage material, too, when I can get it. It's heartbreaking to see the kinds of materials that some people just throw away.

      @TimothyArcher@TimothyArcher4 жыл бұрын
    • @@TimothyArcher Timothy I'm from Belgium. From which state are you? Indeed, it is very unfortunate to see such material being thrown away But luckily you can still buy it here by paying per kilo of metal.

    • @@meanwhileinthegarage I'm from northwestern Washington State, on the Pacific Coast. We have the ocean just five minutes away, and the mountains just ninety minutes away. It's a wonderful place to live. In the Philippines, my wife and I live just off of the southern end of the island of Mindanao, near Davao City, which is one of the largest cities in the Philippines, and one of the most densely populated cities on Earth. Where we live, there are some beautiful destinations, but I really prefer living at home in America. I've been here four years, which is far too long! I have never been to Belgium, but I imagine it is quite a beautiful country to live in, or to visit. Nice to get to know you. I like your channel and your production content. Thank you for your replies!

  • Nice Project! Just a quick advice: Get a large sheet of some clear film to protect the inner side of the Glass. Over time the ricochet of the blasted material will turn it from clear to frosted and you won't be able to see anymore. With the clear film you can just peel it off and stick a new layer on the glass when it gets hard to see into the chamber. Also, make sure to properly ground the chamber since continuous sandblasting can build up a huge static electric charge and you don't wanna be shocked all the time.

    • A sheet of glass that size is ten dollars and will last years before needing to be replaced. Cheaper to replace the glass when needed.

  • Given the cost of pre made sand blasting cabinets and the limited sizes available for the price, making a cabinet yourself is a viable option for most people with a reasonable skill level. Interesting take on how to your own sand blasting cabinet. You work with what is available at a price that you can afford and in materials that you are comfortable working with and using. I am a little bit concerned about positive pressure build up inside the cabinet and the need to filter the exhaust air. Possibly the best source of an air filter would be an automotive air filter system or an air conditioner air filter.

  • Great work. Based on the "MIG" in your name I expected some welding. :'D Remember to not reuse the dusts in the sink below your blaster for Aluminium Parts. Iron particles will be in there. This would lead to rust on aluminium pieces. And maybe some transparent foilage would increase the lifetime of the glass

    @kaigrundmann9277@kaigrundmann92774 жыл бұрын
    • @mike h Mike, reusing sandblast media with iron/rust particles to blast aluminum pushes tiny particles of iron inside the aluminum. If the aluminum is then placed outdoors or moist environment, it definitely shows rust stains. The same goes with stainless.

I can tell you from experience, if there is even a little unsealed area anywhere on the cabinet, you will get media leaking for sure. I'm still fighting that issue and my was supposed to be seal per manufacture instructions. I'll have to reseal it soon or keep a vacuum on hand... Nice build though!

    @garymucher9590@garymucher95905 жыл бұрын
