The FBI made animal abuse a "crime against society", a federal crime here in the US. The house and Senate passed it into law in 2019. Unfortunately, I don't think many resources will be put into prosecuting people who are guilty of this. I am glad the law is on the books though.
People found guilty should be punished with the same abuse they inflicted upon the dog. In this case, chain up the owner for life, on the same length chain. Suffering dogs deeply saddens me.
@@aces553 You are absolutely right. The laws are being made, but they are not being upheld as they should. It's nice on paper, but what does it say about humans when we still won't stop the abuse. And really we have not even mentioned the vulgarity of many countries that eat them!!!!

She may be walking in circles but Freda knows she's not tied up anymore and she knows she's safe. Just look at her. Dogs are intelligent creatures they know fear as they know love. Be kind to all animals make a difference in their lives. They deserve happy fulfilled lives. Yes, people need to figure out who does these things and punish them for their cruel behavior. Nobody needs to be thinking this how you treat an animal. Some countries made it illegal to have a dog tied up for long periods of time.

This was a rollercoaster of emotions... Started crying when I saw her conditions at the start (isn't there a Greek law to punish owners who neglect their animals ?) but what a great happy ending for Frida. Hope she will find a forever home. 🧡🧡

Frida is such a beautiful, loving soul. How could anyone chain her up and abandon her all alone like that, just forget about her suffering day and night? Dogs are massively social animals - to make them a lone captive, restricted by a heavy chain, is sheer, sadistic torture. Much longer, and she'd have been crippled for life. And imagine if another, bigger and aggressive dog had appeared and attacked her? Chained up, she would be totally defenceless and unable to escape. Look how well she fitted in with the other dogs at the shelter. Their love brought her out of her shell and made her part of a family. The healing power of dogs - for each other and for humans lucky enough to share their lives, is too powerful for words. They are magnificent, magical beings, far too good for some humans! BRAVO Takis for giving this beautiful girl her life back. Now Frida has friends, safety, food and clean water, and above all love. Those are every dog's birthright! I pray she will soon find a loving forever home. What a wonderful companion she will be for some lucky, lucky human!
People who abuses animals should be punished by law, takis i’m so thankful that there is someone like you who is trying to make a change. We all should try to help animals near our homes, the least we could do is feed them.

I will absolutely never understand that either. You get a dog, chain him or her up and then they have little interaction with it at all and don’t care for it properly. It’s disgusting to me. That’s not having a family pet and showing it love and affection. it’s cruel and heartless and I doubt this beautiful dog ever got any kind of human affection. How sad 😞
If it was supposed to be a guard dog, what would it be guarding? The stick it was chained to? It didn't look like there was anything valuable at that guy's place. Mind boggling.

She was so scared at the beginning it was heartbreaking. But after a little time she started to run and jump happilly 😊 She's young so she can learn quickly to trust the humans. She's happy with other doggies in the shelter now, that's great 👍 It would be fine if some familly adopts Frida soon, they all will be so happy together 🍀😉

Takis has been doing this for years, everyone on the island knows this, and people still abuse these animals. They need to set an example, and toss them in prison.
the parliament finally won for animal welfare in 2020. people get higher fines of up to 50,000 euros or up to 10 years in prison for cruelty to animals. But here is now more the question of whether dogs on chains also count as cruelty to animals in this new, tougher animal protection law, what they have won. I hope...
@@TheAbfahren If animals do not get fed properly and do not get clean water and have to walk lay in there own shit, that should definitely count as a cruelty. We animals lovers know that it is also cruel to keep dogs on a chain all the time but I am not sure if the politicians agree. I am glad that animal welfare in 2020 is taking steps to do what is a right thing to do. Man kind is evolving.

My first introduction to Greece years ago was a dog writhing in pain after been given a poison bait.... but swarms of cats were fed and looked after, getting rid of their birdlife. Go figure..

That was like my dog! She spent the first three years of her life chained up before I adopted her. After that, she always walked in circles. A few nights before she died at the age of 15, she had a stroke and it was the most gut-wrenching thing to see her pace around around and around in circles in a panic. I had to have the vet euthanize her to end her suffering--he chided me for letting it go on far longer than was humane for her.

My heart is broken for you Mary. It's so difficult when you're in these panic driven emergencies. Every vet has their own definitions; are they right though. I've lost faith in most vets I've had to deal with over the past 10 years. You did your best, that's all one can ask for.

@@tonyarichards5430 that's not how I understand it - Mary knew her dog better than the vet could and euthanasia is for when the dog can't stand it any more, not the vet. Also I would not criticise anyone who gave an animal 12 good years after rescuing them from torment. Bravo Mary.

Ugh, that poor, sweet little angel. Charges need to be filed against those owners. This is absolutely heartbreaking and sickening. She has been neglected so bad, probably starved with no water. People that do things like this to animals, they don't deserve to live. I'm so sick and tired of seeing these poor babies abused, neglected, thrown away, and left to die. Greece has one of the worst animal problems I've seen.
