CHERRY G80-3000N RGB (TKL): The original - then as now: Classic keys, now with state-of-the-art electronics and a smaller housing.
The first version of the G80-3000 appeared in the 1980s and is still in production today. The new G80-3000N RGB keyboards are build on its legend. The classic keycaps still have the same shape and the same typing feel, but why change what is already perfect?

looks great, more of manufacturers gotta include us silent switches fans!
Please CHERRY - make G80 series with deatachable cable !!! also some new hot-swap model would be great.
MX clears variant just arrived to me and is awesome. Finally a proper replacement for my retired G80-3000LQCDE-0 which was the best keyboard in the world for me up until today😄I am so happy Cherry made yet another keyboard with Clears eventually. Thank you soooo much🤩 Note: MX Clears switches are best for typing, silent reds for gaming IMO. I type so I really love how these G80-3000(N)‘s with clears keep me in the right technique without thinking of it. They seem like typing on their own for me while the typing feel is also extremely satisfying😍
Hey northsta! Thanks so much for your comment. We are delighted that you enjoy your new keyboard so much! It's great to be able to reintroduce some of our classic products for the modern era. 😊
PCB mount...
Does anyone know what the polling/scan rate of this keyboard is? Saw some other KZhead comments that they feel like there is a bit of input lag when using this keyboard.
The price for the full size version seems a bit high when the aluminum MX 3.0S costs almost the same. Is there some other advantage with this keyboard? Though an MX3.0S with Clear switches instead of Brown might be nice...
Is there an video for the shortcuts?
Hello Cherry, how does this keyboard compare to the Cherry MX Board 3.0s in terms of gaming performance?
Same performance, different style!
@@CHERRY_ORG thanks, that's awesome.
When will arrive the model with the clears in Germany now (with German layout)? Do you have a actually info about this? Thanks!
Hi Dutch, the MX Clear models will be available at the end of November through our distributor api.
@@CHERRY_ORG Okay, alright! Thanks a lot for the info! :)
I have a question. Can you remove the keys? I want to change the keyboard from qwerty to AZERTY but I don 't know if I can remove them or if they'll break if I do.
Hi Shrek Skywalker, Of course you can exchange the keycaps for all our mechanical CHERRY MX keyboards. But watch our for ISO layouts (DE, FR, GB, …) and ANSI layouts (US, EU, CN). They have a different PCB inside. Question: If you want AZERTY, why don’t you buy the FR layout right away?
Without the russian layout =(( again... I'm forced to order this us/eu from germs without my lay.
Hello Cherry, when is the full-size going to be available? I can see the TKL is available now, but I would like a full-size as I have the desk space. Looks great from the video and pictures that I have seen though :)
Hi Dan! Thanks for your comment. The G80-3000N RGB fullsize keyboard is now available through certified CHERRY partners: www.cherry-world.com/partner-program/resellers.html
Hey Cherry, Thank you for this insane HIGH QUALITY Keyboard! Bin stolz auf euch! Nie wieder Razer Logitech oder Corsair!!!!!
Hey Simon, thanks so much for your comment! Enjoy your CHERRY keyboard. Viel Spaß!
Hello, Will the original G80-3000 with MX Blacks still be manufactured?
Hi Ezio Auditore, yes, the original G80-3000 w/ MX BLACK will still be made.
@@CHERRY_ORG Glad to hear it. Thanks.
@@CHERRY_ORG I would greatly appreciate if you could answer me another question since I could not find it anywhere online: What is the rollover on modern G80-3000 (not the silent version and not the one in the video) and G80-1800? How many keys can it register at once? Thanks in advance.
Where i can buy it? i cant find in your website. I am from Greece
Hi Kostas Pip, unfortunately we do not have a partner/reseller in Greece. However, sometimes our products can be found on Amazon.
Does g80-3000n have plate-less structure?
Yes. I removed a couple of keycaps and although the switch base seems put deeper in the keyboard than in G80-3000, it is still PCB-mounted (to see clearly the difference, I compared with my Das Keyboard 4 with MX Browns which is definitely plate-mounted when I remove any keycap 😁G80-3000N not as far as I can see🥸)
@@northsta TNX :)
is the usb cable detachable? could not find info in datasheet.
Hi karl, the cable is fixed and not detachable.
🤤 I just found out that there are actually keyboards without numpad. Cause I smack my mouse so often against the right side of my keyboard while gaming. Damn and this would be perfect for me, unfortunately I just bought a ck550 for 120€ back in January last year 😭
Hey bro, that's cool, that you realised it, but there are alot more of keyboard form factors than just normal size keyboard, but without a numpad, I recommend you to read my comment that I will text you now, and have a good day!
There are not just keyboards without numpad, there are different form factors with size difference due to different ammount of keys, for example I'll tell 6o uwhat is 60% form factor, the 60% form factor has no f1-f12 keys and arrow keys and keys in same verical row as arrow keys like insert and delete, basically 60% is center of keyboard, missing keys can be accessed by pressing FN key and pressing number keys to use f1-f12 keys, and keys that are mapped on arrow when FN is holded to use arrows, there is also 65-68 keyboards that are more like TKL (basically TKL is normal keyboard, but without numpad), there are even 40% keyboards that have focus on function layers and minimalism, mechanical keyboards have alot of form factors and customization (especially with hot swap that allows you to replace switches if they are broken or to try different switches to find what you like, or to try something new), there are alot of different form factors and specifications of different keyboards for everyone, including you, everyone can find a perfect keyboard for themselves in world of mechanical keyboards ;)
When will the standard-sized be available?
Hi Norwin, many thanks for your comment! The full-size version will be available in mid-October (depending on country/layout). 😉
@@CHERRY_ORG Great! Thank you :)
@@norwing. You're very welcome! 😊
Does g80-3000n have 1000hz polling rate?
Hi TormiCFC, yes it does!
whats the difference between G80-3000N and G80-3000S?
• Different character font (3000N is more subtle, 3000S is more gaming-style) • Different assignment of special keys • 3000N has no additional key between ESC and F1 •3000N has a metal CHERRY logo
@@CHERRY_ORG ah ok ty
@@user-wyosfr Also switches option is different. 3000N has SILENT RED switches or CLEARS (limited edition in german layout). 3000S can be had in REDs, BLACKs, BLUEs or BROWNs😉
@@northsta clears are better or why only germs have it?
@@PEACE.- They say clears are similar in characteristics to rubber dome switches which are much cheaper, but the difference for me is night and day (also the longevity). Cherry keyboards with them were discontinued since Cherry focuses more on other switches, leaving clears as a niche product (clears were always available from Cherry sold separately for DIY keyboards though). It took Cherry several years to produce another keyboard with them again, but still rather held back with a limited batch just for German market, I think 🤔🍒
I would like to buy this keyboard, I just don't know how. G80-3000s RGB TKL If it's posible I would like the Spanish version with 'Ñ' letter.
Hi Andres_ doa, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately the G80-3000N RGB is not available in ES-layout. Here is list of the current layouts available: www.cherry.de/PDF/EN_G80-3838_G80-3000N%20RGB_Datenblatt.pdf Also, our products are available for purchase via our Spanish resellers (www.cherry.es/programa-de-socios/agentes.html) and Amazon.
@@CHERRY_ORG where can I buy them?
Bc there is written page not found
@@andres_doa3363 www.cherry.es/programa-de-socios/agentes.html
First time buying Cherry keyboard. I was looking for TKL with cherry mx red or brown switches so i got this . The price was really good compared to other tkl keyboards. The keyboard is with PCB mount - you dont have to desolder the switch in order to change it or mod it, pretty EZ. There are no screws on the back , instead plastic clips to open it, again EZ but very risky also. You need to be careful with this clips not to break them....The build quality is not great at all, but having in mind that its PCB mounted kinda explains it. The cable is like... like some cheap ass 5$ chinese earphones cable.... Im already considering to change it somehow. When i removed couple of keycaps it seemed like they were lubed, but im not sure it was in a rush. Theres no keykaps remover included. I have never been a RGB fanboy , but this so called RGB is fuckin ridiculous . The software is with prebuild color patterns and they work fine as expected. And there comes the epic custom per key RGB setting.... :D You have basic colors in the setting , along with RGB color codes to pick from or enter the corresponding value. Theres no option to enter hex color codes and theres no lighting color patterns to set, just RGB per key.... No matter what you do, no matter what color code you enter , those RGBs will NEVER correspond to the real color that you have picked!!! Its really shocking when you choose some RGB color code from internet and actually see what color it becomes on your keyboard. Its INSANE !! I spent like hour an hour just to see how bad it is.. Its really BAD. Its like you have 10-ish colors which doesnt appear to be that bright like the prebuild patterns and every other attempt to set a color ends up with washed, mixed and spitted out not corresponding colors . Like i said im not a RGB fanboy no big deal, but it just amazes me how inaccurate and impractical this RGB is . I get it that its cheap PCB TKL RGB keyboard , i get it , but they are FUCKIN Cherry MX ... Its like they are shitting on their own name with almost 40 years of reputation.
What are you a ten or smth ? Go to school rgb fan baby.
are u kidding dude? Is it your first keyboard with RGB? that rgb is not Photoshop in your PC.. i had other devices from other brands and that was the same.. and yes, on other keyboards for 160 euro you can find this Cherry switches with the same RGB' s =) So its a bad idea to think that the switches are bad here bc of the price
why thers a commercial within a commercial?
Any news on when this keyboard will become available?
Hi Will, The TKL version is already available and the fullsize will be available at the beginning of November. 😊
just got mine... actually the quality is good but the size of keycaps is really TOOOOOOOOOO SMALLLLLLL!!!! only bc that size i have to send my keyboard back ...
If you include a cryptic way of disabling windows keys, you should probably have a manual that MENTIONS HOW TO USE IT. This is incredibly annoying. I accidentally locked my win-key while cleaning some keys, and have no idea how to unlock it again, because the manual is incomplete and doesn't mention anything of value whatsoever
Hey there, you can lock/unlock with the following key combinations: Windows key, menu key, ALT + F4, ALT + Tab, ALT GR + Tab, CTRL + ALT + DEL
@@CHERRY_ORG I assumed locking/unlocking was just FN + winkey, for example. But all those are now locked, and I cannot unlock. None of the provided options unlock anything. The only thing that works is CTRL + FN to lock the FN-key itself, anything else doesn't work anymore. Not CTRL + FN + Winkey,... nothing I can think off, and the manual does not mention which key combination I should press to unlock.
