Check this out! The first upgrade and mod we have done to our Sakura D5S!
Honestly, when I first got this chassis, I really thought I would be doing a host of upgrades to it very quickly...but it just WORKS! Straight out of the box, the car drifts great. I have been very hesitant to actually change anything!
Then, I kept seeing these 3D printed parts Adrian from Mutiny Mfg was creating (Facebook post: / 3506739909373215 .
For $40 - it was a LOT of parts, including this upright shock mod.
Curiosity got the better of me, so decided to try it.
In this video, I install the front shock tower and relocate the shocks.
Honestly, the part fit great, really cleans up the overall chassis, and I believe actually helps the shocks work better!
Stay tuned, as we have more parts to install and test on our chassis!

  • If you put the top of the shocks under the top plate furthest outside hole and the bottom of the shocks on the out side hole you can use a regular size servo just need to make some custom stand off to fit the gap

    @tikkizs9817@tikkizs98172 жыл бұрын
    • I didn't find that to be true on my chassis. In fact, I did a whole video going through multiple servos, and exactly what was needed. My understanding is if someone has the v2 of this chassis, it is easier to fit larger servos.

  • Yes of course I have question 😁. Mine looks like stiff too, i cant even see this ifs shock functioning. The question is. -in rc drifting should the front shock travel ? -what is the effect after modify the shock (from ifs to common position shock) like you do ? It is easier to drift ? Thank You.

    @kevinulises2423@kevinulises24232 жыл бұрын
    • With the standard D5S setup, the front shocks are very stiff. This is not ideal, but does seem to work OK. Ideally, you will have good movement on all 4 corners. This is very important for weight transfer to get the maximum performance. You want the suspension to move, to transfer weight (and traction) to the tires.

      @RoadsideRC@RoadsideRC2 жыл бұрын
    • @@RoadsideRC ok bro, thank you, I think I will try mine like you did.

    • I found that when building my d5mr v2, that I over tightened the bottom cap on all 4 shock dampers which compressed the o-ring, increaseing resistance on the shaft, resulting it very stiff unresponsive suspension/bad handling.

    • @@RoadsideRC I’m using reve d servo, yeah racing hackslider gyro, hobbywing esc quick run 10 bl 120 amp, yokomo d1 motor 13,5 T , wish futaba 3 pv . Was it 13,5 motor and 10,5 motor will make a lot of difference? And my motor rotation was backwards, I tried to switch from transmitter, bought programming card for hobbywing esc, didn’t work. I had to switch the outer wire that run from esc to motor than finally works. Thank you very much again for your advice, greatly appreciated 🙏

      @JAM-vu3ol@JAM-vu3ol2 жыл бұрын
    • I would really need to see the car driving to be able to help more. However, my guess is your gyro is most of the issue. You need a really good gyro like the Futaba GYD450. amzn.to/3yMttSi Please also be very smooth on the throttle. Create a "figure 8" somewhere so you can practice. Keep testing and practicing until you can do that very well.
