When searching for a good grease, I came across MOLYKOTE PG-75, which is designed in Germany to work amazing with nylon/metal gears. Not cheap but you can find it in 30ml jars which is enough for 2 bikes
Thank you, maybe others can look at this as an option!
Heyo, what do you think about mission automotive waterproof dielectric grease? Im about to crack open my hub motor tomorrow, first time in a thousand miles, overnighting a jar off of amazon.
I couldn’t find small portions of pg 75. Only large amounts. Do you have link?
thanks for the video i jsut grease mine as well, but we have different gears mine was metal and no big holes on surface like yours
Good vid man thxs!
Appreciate the feedback 🙏
The mechanic in me, wants to install a grease zerk.
That would make it way easier
i used mobil 28 grease, and i replaced the one way clutch and nylon gears.. now my bike is quiet like new. I also used a 4 inch gear puller to get the gears off.
I’ve heard Mobil 28 won’t last 60miles, then noise will return. Let me know please.
@@pauly51 So far its still quiet.. I'm not sure on my mileage. As a car mechanic, I see no reason mobil 28 won't last. It sounds like the person who said this had a bad bearing, and the grease covered the noise up for a little while. That being said there is no official grease, like there would be in a car gear box. I have not put 1000's of miles on the new gears yet, se we will see.
@@northyland1157 sounds good, thanks. I’m curious if I should use Mobil 28, Lucas red and tacky or molykote 44 on my e-bike planetary gears in hub. There was one comment in a forum that Mobil 28 wouldn’t last 60miles.
Question I want to swap my motor but thing is will 500watt motor fit into a 250watt hub
what about moly lube like for motorcycles, that stuff stays put.
Does it need to add cooling fluid?
Wrong grease for the job my friend. You have to use a full synthetic grease like super lube because the distillates in the normal petroleum based grease eat away and break down nylon, plastic and rubber. Its not immediate of course but it can cause advance wear and fatigue mainly on the planetary gears causing a problem down the line. Next time use super lube synthetic grease.
Next time I will probably use lithium grease, should be soon 👍
@@dannyshows lithium grease is also not compatible as it's petroleum based.
Get mobil grease 28 or super lube synthetic grease. Both are safe for use on plastic and nylon and can be found online.
Ps the mobile one grease used in the video was fully synthetic.
Mobil 28 ftw
When you say “bump”, you talking fist bump or Cain dropping able strength?
I think each bike will be different. Once I moved the casing section that comes out to the bottom, as shown on the video, it came out easily. I could see some bikes requiring a sledge hammer though given all the potential build up and rust that could bind a casing shut. I'd say just be careful and build up to greater levels of force if required.
How many miles in did you feel it needed grease?
I would not go past a thousand miles. Per other comments it appears AR uses lithium grease, this is consistent with the qualities of the grease that comes with the bike. With that said the grease I applied seems to work well.
Lucas red and tacky?
I almost purchased the lucas red and tacky that via Amazon before purchasing the mobile at a local auto zone. I think either would work great.
@@dannyshows thank you. New subscriber. I suspect my planetary gears are dry. Only 300 miles slight noise in hub and year warranty has gone by. Juiced rip racer.
do not use that one, its bad for the gears
next time use a clean low cost toothbrush
Did AR recommend that grease?
No they did not! I probably should have checked with them prior to doing this. However, this grease is commonly used in gearing.
@@dannyshows i just asked, will let you know what they say
@@dannyshows White Lithium Grease is what they recommend
@@ibrahimadiallo7444 That's what it looks like it comes with originally. Appreciate the confirmation!
How many miles in did you feel the need to grease it?
Tha sound was a slipping/worn clutch
You may be right, but short of researching for hours, this comment is beyond my technical expertise.😂
I have 14k miles on mine, you think I may have waited too long 😉
I'm at 3,760 or something like that. 14k is gnarly. How long have you had the bike?
@@dannyshows It took me a year to get to 14k, It would have been 15k but the Jumbo came out and I started riding it. Dual batteries are great. I did put dual batteries on my H8, but the battery is on the back. The Jumbo the battery is in the middle so it is balanced better. My plan is to get both bikes to 15k this year if my back holds out 😀
@@papablueshirt Thats amazing. If you have any recommendations on mods you have founds useful please do share. TY!
To much grease applied.
HAAAAA!!! ... contaminated gloves touching/handling the brake rotor.
Very true watching it again I am noticing how much contamination I applied on the rotor 😳. In my defense, I changed my gloves several times during this video.
you still have to clean the rotors properly, and do the pads as well if you attempt to use it without cleaning it.@@dannyshows
It's fine. It's a ebike....it's not the space shuttle...jesus
