  • Anything Jay-Z does has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Business over anything else. If it doesn't make business sense then he doesn't do it. He'll help others as long as he benefits too. He's always been this way and only in recent years started being a bit better. But everyone who works with him eventually spill the beans of how he truly is. Selfish, cold, money orientated always. It's been his drive since before music.

    • @@gregt-f3907 given her initial tweet about him not tweeting or protesting, a few songs and lines fit, and broader than that themes throughout do the project do the same. Worldwide Steppers highlights his not being innocent and calls out society hiding lies and posing for pictures. Which is to say that one: he’s not perfect, and two: f**k a tweet everybody 🧢 online. Rich Spirit does the same with lines about his phone being broke and how he’d never live his life on a computer. Crown address how you can’t please everyone and the responsibility that comes with being at the top. Savior and Mirror are perhaps the most direct references about him not being a hero or owing us more than everything he puts into his music. The heart part 5 highlights the ills of the culture and how he’s given us songs that speak for us. Even the intro starts with telling us why he’d been so private “going through something”. The album wasn’t directly addressed to her but a response to the sentiments she put out there and the expectations of artists like him and Cole as messianic figures. In her defense though he has had music in the past that has a savior complex. She’s no fool and she’s not been entirely wrong.

Black people fully boycotting the NFL just wasn’t happening at that point. I remember seeing celebrities partying in Atlanta for the Super Bowl that year. Players also weren’t boycotting either. • First - I always hear her name next to critique but never next to actually DOING anything. What does NoName do, besides rap and tweet? The only thing I could find, outside of dropping mixtapes and doing poetry is, she has…….. A Book Club… I can say JayZ buses high school students to HBCUs along the east coast and provides scholarships. I can say JayZ funds his mother to get people out of prison. I can say JayZ led a protest to stop Art Education funding from being cut from schools. But, I cannot say I’ve ever heard of NoName building anything. Maybe she does it on the low????? I’ve never heard anyone ELSE talk about her impacting them either though?? Who is this person??? Is she just using their names for publicity???? Because when J Cole responded back, she really just talked about, “his tone” rather than having a healthy dialogue. Second, How is a HipHop show propaganda for the military? Esp since the lyrics and imagery is unchanged from what it is. Lol it’s not even a poignant point she made. Yes, the military paid the NFL for half time show’s to promote enlistment. But, that’s no different than the military taking out ads on TV and KZhead. Does she put her music on KZhead? Would she she talk on TV? She does most of her rants I’ve seen on Twitter... Twitter worked DIRECTLY with the Pentagon to amplify state stories about the middle east, and Elon Musk has bowed down to several foreign governments over censorship. So, does she promote the military industrial complex? Lol. No, right? Neither does Beyonce performing at a half time show with Black marching bands. Even if the critique was just over treatment of certain Black players - again, Elon Musk has several lawsuits against his companies for discriminatory practices in his companies and Spotify is platform blatantly racist podcast content. So, why isn’t her song being released on an independent E-Stim or something? Lol, it’s because these platforms are currently the only way to reach a wide audience with whatever you’ve got to say. The bars are lazy and so is her flow on the track. This type of political rap was played out in 20 years ago, bro. The real emcees like Dead Prez evolved to actually building institutions for young people to train their minds and bodies. Immortal Technique and Ghostface went and built schools. Pharrell built 1 school, has another school on the way, and helps Black start up companies get investment funds for their ideas.

    • It's practically all her music. It's never from a genuine or authentic place either, she tries to be woke but fails. She grew up in the suburbs and obtained entitlement from it. Her ego, internalized self hate, and bitterness always is showing. She has her own book club dedicated for black women but has admitted that she doesn't even read any of the material, just skims through it. She also platformed Jay Electronica on her new album. She's a weirdo and is honestly worse than the people she "dissed".

Most chiiCz are like that but they internalize the shit and don’t have a platform. I deadass have exes like this. I wouldn’t at all be focused on somebody else’s personal issues. It’s like Drake. • I totally respect the point she's making, but at the same time, I think such moral purity can be counter-productive. Being the most morally upright person doesn't do anyone any good if it prevents said person from engaging with the wider culture. At worst, it can even be selfish - I mean, what's more important, an individual's personal integrity or doing all that can be done to try pushing things in a positive direction, no matter how slightly, even if it means getting your hands dirty? The important thing is to remain diligently aware of your own motivations, to do your best to be sure you're not just making excuses to enable personal gain at your cause's expense.

  • She’s talented, and eager to take her career from one level to the next, but it’s somewhat naive and risky to publicly call out major artists and stakeholders who have lots of influence and clout in the music industry, when you are not yet in their league. Those who hold the power could potentially influence others against you, and eventually hamper your career. Yeah, yeah, I know about free speech and all of that and whether or not there is some truth to what she’s saying. But one has to be smart and understand the politics of the industry in which they are operating in.
