You don’t have to be a full time employee to join a data team.
Nowadays, it’s common to be a consultant or contractor.
But how do you know which route is better for you?
Fortunately, I’ve been on both sides of this dynamic over the last few years and can report back.

  • I enjoy watching your content, keep up the good work! 😊 It's worth noting the differences between a freelance consultant and a corporate consultant. I moved from a consulting position as a data engineer to an internal development team. The key advantages were improved compensation, a healthier work-life balance, and more decision-making power.

  • Can you please tell me why would I write sql using dbt when I can write all the transformation logic in the warehouse of choice itself. Of curse I wouldn’t get version control and lineage graph but is that all what dbt offers? Thanks for the clarification
