I’m convinced homeboy wrote this in 1996 and just sat on it for 10 years
He'd been waiting
It seems like it should be harder cuz the drummer is really killing it in the video.
I was convinced it was a 90's song but I was wrong
It's got a strong shoegaze element to it that makes it seem like something that may have come out during the heyday of 90's shoegazing. Reckon these guys listened to a lot of My Bloody Valentine prior to making this album.
very similar to the Smashing Pumpkins... love both the bands
This song never ever gets old to me.
Timeless
Never
Gonna be 27 next month and this song has been with me since it came out so I dig it bro!
It's great
This song is new to me?!.....I don’t know why it is....but holy fuck I soooo love it🥰...it really touches my heart and soul aXxx
Congratulations Silversun Pickups for "Lazy Eye" reaching 50 million views!
Fuck yeah, been jamming to this for the past 8/9 years ❤❤❤
Ah yeah most of those were me.
👏👏👏
🎉❤❤
And there’s another one on their channel with 7M views.
No way this song is 17 freaking years old! This song never gets old, the way it builds and finally let's go gets me every time.
Jesus Christ. 17 years! The days are long but the years are short.
Scary how time just goes
Pretty sure its older
It's funny we're 😂 coming back at the same time I looked at that said God damn. lol we're getting older but I'm thankful we're the ones who made it so far.
I have just learned about them, they're really good , it has like a 2016 vibes
I don’t know hwy but this brings back memories of a simpler more meaningful life.... peace to all
It is still meaningful, just in a different way. But, I completely get what you mean. Hindsight
I miss when liberals weren't pussys and snowflakes
For me it is what has not yet happened.
Bought the CD the same week it came out, I kept hearing seeing it on MTV in the mornings just before school. Miss those days of MTV
Much respect to you sir.
This song makes you wish you could stay young forever.
Fuck that.the older i get the bettwr life gets
How did you read my mind? They have a new album btw. Pretty decent on first listen. But this song...
Sure is a far away old war song
Vete a tomar por culo ! Talk find
You can, stay young at heart.
Still a fucking banger
Who’s in 2024 with me?
Yes
🤘
Seeing them live on Saturday 🤘

Coolest thing about this video is the dude’s friends knew when to bail.
@Stan Dup HAHA
I was thinking that too though the song is daycent too.

You've been waiting for this moment all your life 😉💜
SP = Smashing Pumpkins, right 😮😋🕺
Im 32 and now hearing this song for the first time. I love it!!
I’m 44 and remember the first time I heard it, it took tictok to bring me back and I was like I remember this fabulous song ❤
Love the way the drummer plays the entire song like it's a drum solo
God made man man made drums drums made gods
Lmao I had to watch. Poor drums, dudes bangin them like they are someone's mom
what an untrue statement
That's what Christopher does. He's the muppet Animal come to life. If you've not seen him/them live, you need to correct that!
Let me tell you about a man named Aaron Gillespie…
I'm 119 and I'm so glad I found this song again. It really takes me back to a simpler time when I was 103 and I would play this song as I drove my great-great-great-grandson to preschool. He's a grown man now... Time really flies by...
Wow you must have Good eye sight at your age as you were driving at 103…. And to type at 119 you doing a lot of good supercenturian
I’m 6 and this song takes me back to when I was just a disincorporated field of background energy that had yet to coalesce into a singular consciousness aware of myself as a discrete being. Things were a lot simpler then.
You're older than my old ass lol
RIP Ms. Tanaka. You had a great run.
Lmao
Is it me, or does his voice seem like it has no business coming out of his mouth? Absolutely killer song.
😏 nice. ✔️
Like Rush
i thought it was the girl in the band singing it all these years until i saw this just now...
He uses a androgynous voice by balancing out the air and octave to sound half Male half female simultaneously mixed together
You should check him out now, 13 years later doing the same song at the guitar center jam.. watching him sing now is even more nucking futs
This song is pure nostalgia. Takes me back To the teen days when nothing mattered but being dumb, and enjoying the simple things of life.
I'm fifty and feeling it
We would all kill to go back to those times.
Youth is wasted on the young.
I know the feeling , what a time to feel so alive
Oh to be young again. Oh wait, barely made it through that. Still, I’m 70 now and can still appreciate a song and video like this. Peace.
Cheers bro
Love
I'm 71 y.o. and totally understand how you feel. This tune is a little masterpiece.
go and play music pops yes you are technically closer to 100 than people in their 20s but still have fun
Absolutely my friend ✌️❤
When he does that screaming part near the end it actually gives me goosebumps at how good it is.
Every time
Bro. Love screaming that part when I'm alone in my car lol
Same here...
I feel ya
Fact!
This song truly fits the bill of "majestic." The moment the opening melody begins, you are teleported to another time. If you're still young, it's a time that you're still trying to explain. If you are older, it's a time that you wish could come back. You don't just hear this song, you feel it.
Good point.
I have synesthesia that allows me to feel music and other sounds like physical sensations. It's as awesome as it sounds, rather sexual... So I totally get it.
I've had " this moment " with my ex in the back of my golden ford ute many times, gettin close to forty years ago now. For all the young'ens out there, make the most of your young years. ✌️
I go back to the time I used to listen to this on repeat and all the feelings I had back then, even though most of them were negative, I still look back with a smile.
I miss 2006
16 years later and this song still gives me goosebumps ❤
This song.. when was it out? It does bring back memories i cant remember
Gosh darn right!
everytime i listen to this song i cry my eyes out
@@MAnd-ld4op The nostalgia is real 🥺💖
Typical racist. I'll bet you just love the fact that there's no diversity in the video at all...just all white people SMH
Silversun Pickups are still the best impromptu concert I ever went to. Bought tickets last minute and went alone and had a blast. It was such a great time
I did the same thing- flip flopped for a month, before getting tickets an hour beforehand. Heck of a lot of fun!
This song is the same as 1979 in that it evokes this altered reality and intense nostalgia that you can't quite pinpoint. Oh the emotions.
Finally someone wth the same sentiment as mine. Back in college, i used to call it the 1979 of 2000's haha. Rock on fr. The Philippines. 🤘🏼🍻
Exactly how I feel!
I was born in 63......been in this bar in the late 70s.......a.hundred times......couldnt possibly have looked that young(?)......they nailed it.....hair and all......great song and the video puts me right back to that time.........

@@frediii88 Same vibe This guy explained it perfectly
This band sounds like if Sonic Youth and the Smashing Pumpkins had a love child…. Also the groove laid down by the bass player absolutely crushes
Its the connection between Smashing Pumpkins and Yellowcard. So righteous!!

Smashing Pumpkins was for sure an inspiration for these guys. They even do the whole “wall of sound” guitar part right before he belts his vocals
Hidden gem, nobody knows about sspups when i ask them. Fucking gold.
Holy shit the nostalgia hit me like a truck.
I miss going to shows, and catching someone's eye in the crowd, and the way the light hits their face, and the invisible string between you, and the glow of possibility everywhere
yes!!
It'll happen again...I am sure....this is NOT gonna be the end.....this is the beginning of a new wave.
I'm dying to go to a gig and to dance among the crowd
I still await to experience this
Nice 👍
about a year ago, i lived about 40 feet from a grungy music venue. I was out on my porch having a cigarette and i heard a live version of this song and thought it was karaoke at first, but it was obviously too good to be karaoke. sure enough, silversun pickups were playing a show. hearing the crowd react to all the visceral moments in this song was a great experience, even from 40 feet away while not being in the same room.
LA?
Thank you
Thats a great story bro. Thanks for sharing
That sounds dope!!

@@brndyfranklin I never thought I'd escape the nightmare of homelessness and drug addiction and in three years and 9 months, I did it. It was hard at many times but I kept up with the program and I did 200% sometimes to make sure I didn't go backwards. When I was sitting in front of a fast food place begging for food, I didn't feel that uncomfortable at all in that place, much like now. What I'm trying to say is, for other people that are or were like me, you're always the same person looking out the same eyes with the same mind so it takes courage to change, that's what I did and it worked when it could have not, I had faith in hope.
1:06 to 1:19 is such a small part of this song, but it's where things go from being just another radio hit to something truly special.
almost ten years later and i still get chills when the loud part kicks in. one of the most perfect songs ever written IMO.

Thing everyone remembers their youth when watching this video, great song!
Just found this song a month ago blows my mind how this went under my radar for over a decade … I’m 47 jamming to it almost every day like it’s brand new because to me it is

Sad...I miss my 20's.the music..the feelings.
because there's no transitions in music since 2000...
I remember hearing this on radio after going to a local music venue and seeing some bands. It was this shit and Starlight by Muse.
Love this song it's crazy it's 2024 and it's 17 years old
I remember I was 16 when this first came out. Songs like these are nostalgic. Bitter sweet hearing this after all these years
Hard to describe what this song does to me. I'm 20 again, my heart is pounding as I listen to amazing 90's real Alternative. Maybe it's the Meat Puppets, maybe the Pumpkins, maybe Blossoms, doesn't matter. Time rolls backwards 25 years for me for four minutes and change. When the song ends my heart is pounding I can feel it in my ears, eyes closed, struggling to hold onto that feeling of youth and its infinite possibility.
That's wicked cool. Hope you have a Great day..
Beautiful description

this is the kind of nostalgia that hurts
Nostalgic for a song from the early 2000s that’s nostalgic for a time 10 years before.
Saw this song played by them live at a concert in Maui when I was about 14. Still remember how the bassist towered over ether other band members, she was wearing heels and is already really tall. They all rocked but she kind of stole the show. Great performance.
I love how when she goes outside to the dude his buddies just walk away without saying a word. Bro code, my dudes. Bro code.

I'm an unborn fetus currently in the womb and this is playing. I'm enjoying it a lot and I'll probably be able to play it note for note when I'm older.
I fell for a girl in my early teens, it was awkward and even though we tried we never made it but it haunted me well into my older life, I never got over her. She was that cliche 'the one' that stories are made of. 30 years later we found each other again and this time we made it right. I showed her this song and video early on, saying it reminded of me of our younger years and it instantly became our song. Once a week on her private playlist to remind her of fate. She left a year and a half ago, career came first unfortunately and I was apparently not part of it, even though I supported and cheer-leaded for her every step of the way. Watching this again tonight, I cried for the first time in many, many years. A grown man in his 40s sobbing over a love lost. The clip hurt more than the song.
You got her dude. Which is more significant than never getting her. I envy you so. I never got my “the one”. She’s still out there and I’m married now. But she will always be the one that got away. You did good man

Paul Dano as the bartender, LOL.
They have a pretty solid discographyu.
That's one of the first things I noticed. His friends cordially got out of the way. But that's not what happens in reality. A good looking available girl is going to be hounded by jerks even if she clearly shows only an interest in the targeted male. But American girls won't settle on one. They will play the field.
She reminds me of many girls from ‘81-‘83 in the Orange County CA alternative scene. The director captured it perfectly, and the actress makes me want to return to that time, if only for a moment. This song is timeless and so great.
This song will FOREVER be my favorite, not because it's a great song but because it holds a great memory for me 😊 In the summer of '99 0r '01 this song was playing on the way down to the beach and whenever I hear this song I'm taken back to that time and it's like I can I hear the laughter and the heat from the sun and everything that happened. No, this is far better, and I suspect it will age better too.
I've been waiting for this moment.
PERFECT by SP is the sequel to 1979
@@LVE4GOD ah come on man. You must be born after 2000....1979 is a classic, always will be
I've never felt so understood. 1979 came out during high school for me. This song came out when I felt like I was an adult, but I really wasn't
I'm a 34 year old Dad and my little girl is 7 and this is our jam. Rocking out in the kitchen whilst we make cookies and sing at the tops of our voices. Fyi as she can rock with the best of them
Wishing you and her all the best man
@@XARIER39 cheers man, same to you and your loved ones
This is pure nostalgia for me. I love his voice! Bless
You don’t see a single phone, amazing
As somebody in 2020 in their 50's. I discovered this song from Rock Band. That game gave me so many new types of music I could enjoy despite it not generally being made for folks my age. This song rocks.
Nice man. Yeah you guys had a lot more rock music. Its unfortunate that we just don’t have the number and prevalence in rock anymore.
Im also in my 50's I generally always have a look and listen to any bands I haven't heard off before when I'm on KZhead. I've came across some cracking bands with some fantastic songs. Just like this one I suppose
i got it from guitar hero :D
this is 'secret' late-genX music
I was in my highschool senior year. It came out in 2006. Good memories. Theres rarely good music nowadays.
Never is too late to discover a great song and an awesome band, isn't it?
Enjoy. These guys are so choice.
Nope
It is never too late to discover new music from anywhere in the world just keep your mind open always there is beautiful music to be had from every corner of this planet just explore.!!!
It never is, i just found out about it. Great alternative song it is indeed
I know - I think I just discovered it about a year ago!
The sudden burst of energy from the lead-up all the way on to the word “Such shine” being spot on from Brian Aubert makes me smile without a doubt!!!
It takes the song straight into the Stratosphere.
Yup HWood was Blasting with clubs and music and I was running them Ambient Vertigo Century Monte Cristiano still Little Cave Follow Joey Radical still holding it down after 2o years dying. My opinion the first.
Such shine is the correct lyrics
2024 and still come back ❤
Those who are reading this I hope you have a happy and wonderful life. Always smile when you in or having a hard time ;)
You too my friend
bcfcbennjy99 thanks. try to spread positive things
Hey this resonated with me when normally those types of things don't, thanks. This week sucked.
Jaci Runge always appreciate little things bro. Just a bad day not a bad life. Think positive and I hope you have great day 👍
Do something that makes you happy EVERY day. 💕
I was 14 when this came out... I wish I knew what I had and made the best out of it back then. The world just isnt the same anymore and this song just takes my mind back to the simple times.
U can't imagine how those of us who grew up in 80s -early 90s feel..no words to explain ..best time to be young..9/11 marked and was the start of an entirely different world humanity entered..its all been progressively downhill since..
I was 18 😢🙂
Facts brother. I was 14 in 06 too
The world didn't change, our perception did. We grew up and out and learned more about the world. No shame in that. Make the future we all deserve.
@@sigmasquadleader Yup.. sometimes knowledge is a curse and too much especially when we know what's going on today. It's crazy..
Just found my new fave song 😍 I thought it was Smashing Pumpkins when it first started, such a cool 90s vibe
Just played Silversun Pick-ups at the bar tonight & the whole place got quite and then started jamming and talking laughing it was amazing af!!! 🎸 🤟
This song was one that my ex-boyfriend and I used to love. It reminds me now of warmth and bed and sleep and comfort. We used to have it on repeat and fall asleep to it, then everything went to shit with us and I blocked it out of my head, until I stumbled across it today while sorting through my iTunes. Kinda strange how one song or a voice or certain lyrics can bring back so many memories of a specific time in your life, memories that haven't been unlocked for years. Just thought I would share it with you all as it's a very important song to me.
:/
This song is awesome, my wife and i would jam this out on Rockband a few tears back. I loved it and memories we will share forever. !
Thanks for sharing with us!
+farm bugs happened the same with me
Biff Stukeley That's what good music does it brings things together, your story was sad but very heartwarming I do hope you find someone as warm and wonderful as your x, I wish you the best. Let the music take you away!!!!
