One thing I dislike about buyable cosmetics are the exchange prices, not many games give a 1 dollar option, so if something cost 12 bucks, I have to pay 15 bucks, for an item that's supposed to be 12 but in reality I paid 15 with a side of currency I probably won't use because I probably won't buy anything else ever. I don't if that's just a problem that game companies have no control over, but it's mostly what stops me from buying any cosmetics in most games.
It's intentional. It makes consumers buy more than they need, then feel compelled to buy more in the future since they already have some left over. Doesn't work on everyone, but still works for the majority
csgo does it's cosmetics through steam marketplace, the minimum you can add to your wallet is $5 however

Maybe it used to be that way, but whenever I go in to buy cards to level a badge, or a game, or in-game cosmetics, it always links me to the payment page and gives me the regular options of 5, 10, 25, etc. but has a selection on the bottom listed for the exact price I would have to pay with tax. For example, I just bought AC Rogue and it gave me the choice to add 21.49 directly from mastercard to my account to cover the purchase

Regarding the games, DLCs and stuff I mean I wouldn't mind buying a game priced 60 bucks as long as 1. Game's working. personally I'm not really fond of the idea of "selling things broken, fixing it later" which I know publishers and shareholders want that sweet revenue (Cyberpunk for example that launched near Christmas) 2. Cutting game in half for season pass is a scummy move but who am I to judge? 3. This is exclusive to recent Assassin's Creed titles. Making the game grindy and boring asf to push people buying xp boosters and time savers in single player titles.
I’m fine with dlcs as long as they give something new to the game that makes sense and is fun and is decently replayible kinda like what borderlands do with there dlcs there’s always new things to farm and it takes a wile but still fun get new and fun characters and it’s replayible
Number 3 is nothing new if you're familiar with wargaming (the world of tanks/warplanes/warships guys) or gaijin (War Thunder, crossout, CRSD Foad). The grind is fine early on to hook you in only for it to ramp up exponentially once you sink about a hundred hours in game. To combat this, you can either buy a "premium account subscription" (more XP and currency per game) or premium currency to skip over stuff.
DLCs become a huge problem in games like ark, where you spent 60 bucks on a laggy af game and then to compete with bigger tribes you need to spend more money on more dlcs which they pump out yearly.
Being 100% honest as long as the base game is good. If you make DLC it is fine. The problem comes into the picture when you get game like Destiny or Cyperpunk. Where the base game is not worth it to begin with. Destiny 2 is a big example of this. Base game of destiny 2 has what amount of actually interesting content 100 hours in as a F2P nothing. 1.Strikes aka (mini-dungeons) you've played 1 you've played them all. I literally haven't payed attention to what i'm doing in a strike for the last 4 years. 2.Gambit almost no soul on earth plays it anymore because it isn't very fun nor interesting. 3.Crucible is PVP love it or hate it is there. 4.Then you pay $40 a year and $10 a month for content that you have already played before 1000's of times. 5.The seasonal activities you pay $10 a month for as well a buying the exotic weapon for the season. The activity is the same the first time I played it as the 100th time I played it. To me DLC's is fine ,usually, if they have a good foundation to work off of. Game's like Dark Souls, Witcher, Mass Effect 1-3, Elden Ring, Persona, Borderlands, etc. Have an amazing base game as well as the DLC shares the same level of content if not more than the base game.
@@majorcupquake5006 just because you don't like D2 doesn't mean it isnt a good f2p experience. I don't pay for major expansions, I still get plenty of enjoyment from the seasonal content. If you only play 5-10 hours a week max, it is absolutely enjoyable.

You have to remember, when you call someone out for cheating they will sometimes stop cheating because they don't think nor want you to watch the replay. They hope at the end if they throw or make it close you will forget about it and move on. Now, sometimes when you call them out they go FULL FORCE. Pick your battles, watch your replays, and stop giving Ubisoft money. Remember, they talked BIG about all of their new anti-cheat improvements and it's only gotten worse this season... when last season was BAD.

Most of them probably don’t put the time in to actually get skilled at the game or develop any game sense. Shame really if they just put some time in and accepted sucking for a bit they’d probably have a much more rewarding experience…

24:02 That thing used to happen pretty often to me, i have pretty good ears and if the audio is set just right and it was working properly, i would turn exactly to where i heard the sound from, sometimes my brain prioritizes that over visual cues and i would overshoot my mouse movements, specially if i was flicking the mouse. In regards to the whole skins argument. In valorant, most good skinds cost either 18,75 or 21,50, with some rare exceptions. You also have lower priced ones for 12 and 9. For the higher cost ones you get finishers, weapon effects and more on top of having a cool skin. Everything else in valorant is completely free. Everything. In siege you buy the main game (sure 5 dollars but still). Then you have agents themselves, operator skins, gun skins, lootboxes, charms, etc. I think all of that adds up to about the same Regardless of what costs more, both are incredibly expensive so be smart with your money :). Oh and then there's CS:GO knives...
Why people cheat in siege is beyond me... you don’t just need mechanics, you need actual game knowledge and people who cheat without game knowledge end up like the man in this video.

A random rarity skin for each weapon in Valorant, a knife, and unlocked SFX and one alternate color for the premium skins in that mix... that costs about $465. If they're all Premium skins, then it's up to $965. If you already bought one skin for each weapon, you'll probably impulsively buy new skins you like eventually, and then forget about the ones you already have.

$15 in valorant can get you either one pretty good skin with animations and a finisher, which is kinda expensive but its not unreasonable for a free, well made game with content added so often
theres also countless league examples of people paying higher prices for rank, infact league's lowest ranked accounts tend to go for pretty high prices too

About the whole valorant vs siege cosmetics discussion in this video. Valorants prices are indeed too much. But to say an elite skinn is more than a gun skinn in valorant is imo incorrect. I wouldnt say either is more but a gun skinn in valorant also can add a lot of stuff. Firstly it obviously makes the gun a different color but secondly all the animations like reloading and inspecting your weapon can also be altered. Secondly the sound of the gun will be altered for the user of the gun. Lastly if you get the last kill of the round theres also a big animation that starts playing. The reason why skinns are expensive in val is cuz of all of those animations get made and sounds have to be made and all of that. In siege its just a designer that slaps on a skinn to a character model and some gun models. The only thing that is a lot of work is the animation at the end of the round. Im not saying the prices are right imo they still should be lower but there are also events where they hand out discounts on skinns and then the skinns are accually worth it. Both games are good games and i like both games.

Besides the gameplay the conversation on gaming prices was interesting. I’ve seen some entitled gamers on social media recently that seem to believe every company should be providing games AND customization for free. The issue is that developers have to make money somewhere. To me, if you’re buying a game at full price ($60) it would be nice to have unlock-able customization as content (either through challenges or an earnable in game currency). If you’re providing a game for free, then feel free to charge for customization. Hopefully that customization is affordable but if valorant or other games can make a profit selling an outfit for the price of a full game then good on them. As long as you aren’t selling “pay to win” advantages then none of this really affects those who don’t want to spend money for some entertainment.
If only COD was a good game, their customization unlock system is the best in the industry.
Then there's War Thunder, a free game that indirectly shames you into paying premium to have an actually effective grind for the vehicles that you want to play. And lets not even bring the pay to win bushes into it because it gets even worse. I swear, some guys seem to spend like 80 bucks in buying every single piece of bushes to cover an entire tank.

Muzzle brake is only for semi auto fire, the Flash hider is much better for recoil control, while the compensator reduces horizontal recoil
Apex skins being 20 dollars has always amazed me, some of them are fairly original and arguably worth it, but others not so much

i think that saying a game is free so they can charge exuberant prices for skins is a copout. these companies like riot, ea, and ubisoft make significantly more money on a long term game with cosmetics that are priced insanely high, then they would from a 60 dollar game with no cosmetic purchases. myself and probably the majority have spent way more money on free to play games then they have on 60 dollar titles. which is fine but some of these companies have very lucrative ways to get you to buy cosmetics for insane costs.
with valorant i think you can refund skins for points within a certain time frame, which in the end will save you money when yiu find another skin you like but otherwise skins are really overpriced when they become individuals in the store but the bundles are kinda meh most of the time

Tbh on the skin pricing, with valorant, they do their best keeping cheaters out of their games. You rarely meet any, if you do they're banned pretty quick. While siege on the other hand can't keep blatant cheaters banned.
I personally know two people who payed 120$ for that skin. I told them they are dumb. I’d pay 1$ at the most even if I was rich.
