I'd like to thank Ian and Attila for sending me a candy selection from Germany, Slovakia and the Czech republic. There are some very interesting flavours and some absolutely horrific ones too, but in a good more-ish type of way.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-
www.bigclive.com/coffee.htm
This also keeps the channel independent of KZhead's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.
I was watching this video with a huge smile on my face during the entire duration, I'm not sure why. I'm happy you liked the sweets I sent you. Obviously, I couldn't include everything (like Študentská Pečať chocolate, or Kofola drink) as I had to keep the weight under two kilograms, so it would still classify as a letter. I ended up at about 1970 grams...
Pekne od teba! Skoda ze aj kofola nemohla vycestovat ;)
Jojo dobrý výběr
Such generosity. I enjoyed seeing treats from other lands
kofola sa da kúpiť aj v UK a IRL nie?
Could you quickly run down what you sent Clive and tell everyone what's in them? -because I have a strong suspicion the first one he tried had chestnut paste in it and he also clearly missed a coconut based one. I lament we don't get the central European treats over here on the West coast.
"This is a piece of foam" :) anyone else finds this really comical?
wiedehopf yes indeed
I cracked up really loud on that one. I put in the foam to stop the stuff from moving around in the box.
before i have to search it again lol: kzhead.info/sun/rNytqMZvrmqwhok/bejne.html
Yup Haha
I had to pause the video to see if anyone else posted the same thing. I was going to ask what the foam tasted like if no one else had said anything.
I never had the desire to be KZhead famous until watching this; the possibility that strangers would send me exotic candies never occurred to me before.
Do what I do, just go up to random unmarked vans, they will be more than happy to give you some candy!
Sojove isn't that soy?
what i do, buy cheap crap on ebay from china, by the time it arrives you forgot all about it, and its fun
Jusb1066 just like little presents ;)
i would be paranoid for someone to send me something deadly or just expired
What makes a grown up man watch an other grown up man eat candy at 2 o'clock in the night? Big Clive does. Thanks for a taste full upload.
I was asking this to myself, it´s 3am...
Funny. I'm watching this at 2am as well. XD
Next week Bigclive disassembles a blood sugar monitor!
😂😂😂😂😂
"This is a piece of foam" The way it was said, the context of the video, I burst out laughing until I could barely breath.
Me three haha 😜
maybe it was edible foam :-)
SAME!!
Best part 10/10
Me too. 🤣 I chuckle at that every time I watch this video. (A lot.)
Disheartening to see how many of these brands have already been bought up by Nestlé.
They are literally inventing brand names for separate countries around the clock. Chances are if you see a "local brand" candy that has a nestle/mars logo on it, it's not "bought up" from a preexisting company, but rather "invented" by the company.
do not eat lightbulb, it is NOT a delicacy things are not that bad in slovakia
Jusb1066 I'm just imagining a phosphor enhanced Clive when he stands under a UV lamp..
Jusb1066 You're not gonna deceive me! I DID see EuroTrip, so I KNOW it is!!!! :P
thumbs up for "If I was a politician, It would be violent" me too man me too
also, HAh that Milena chocolate... what the fucks up with all the political videos Clive you're gonna get demonetized :P
"lets poke this with a screwdriver" had me off the chair with laughter!
mc349iii honestly, I was expecting the spudger...
The salt in salty licorice is ammonium chloride. The dusting on the candies is usually some mix of sugar, ammonium chloride, and possibly citric acid for sourness, depending on the brand.
I mean, ammonium chloride is _a_ salt ;)
Does ammonium chloride cause high blood pressure like sodium chloride does?
Yeah, just pointing it out in case people think it's mostly sodium chloride in the candies (sometimes there actually is a little bit, but it's pretty rare as far as I've encountered).
I believe so, at least as kids in Finland (where salty licorice is very popular), we were warned about it. But on the other hand licorice itself causes high blood pressure, so I don't know how big the salt's contribution is.
I'm from Copenhagen, so when I lived in Southern France I always brought big bags of ammonium chloride. French liquorice is just sugar coloured black. When border agents queried about at my plastic bags with white powder, I just had to say “salmiak” and they'd wave me through.
Good grief Clive - Czechoslovakia ceased to exist in 1992! i regret to inform you that the Soviet Union has fallen, Yugoslavia is long gone, and there's now a North and a South Sudan.
Tak takový balík sladkostí fakt potěší :-D
Určitě to dělají.
bigclivedotcom haha that's hilariously wrong
Potěšilo mě, že neposlal žádnou globální značku, ale opravdu ty naše. /// Translation: I am glad, that he did not send any global brand piece but really just our local. /// Clive, I really enjoyed this video and your Czech pronounciation, which is really good and original! Thank you a lot! Especialy for chili reaction! And by the way - haslerky are healthy for healing respiration issues and Slavia is official candy of famous Slavia fotball team from Prague, Vrsovice :-) ... Please let us know Raplhs reaction ;-) EDIT: Sojove rezy means bars made of soya ... And Margot is coconut and rum based :-)
😂I was looking in my Turkish - English book for the translation 😅

"this is a piece of foam" 😂
I wish to say - You're one of my favorite channels to watch for two reasons. First, you're informative and relevant to my interests. I've learned things watching these videos. Also humorous (the zappy camping lamps being my favorites so far). Second, you're relaxing. I have to get up to go to work early at 5 AM tomorrow, and it's currently 10:34 PM, and I can think of nothing better to do than to watch some long Clive videos while sitting in my big poofy armchair and nodding off to sleep. I suspect when I wake up autoplay will be paused on something loosely tied to electronics and my TV will have correctly surmised that I have passed out and turned itself off. It's the intonation of your voice and the way you're never sort of spiking the volume of your words that makes these relaxing to watch. Hard to describe. Keep doing your thing.
Really enjoying your Chili Gitarren reaction here :)
The way Clive reacted was priceless.
Looks sorta like a dog treat...
Chili Gitarren sounds like the name of a character from a 70's cop t.v series.
Was so funny. Best laugh this year.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that found laughter in his suffering. Wonder if we could get him and his brother the one chip challenge
As a Czech I'd like to fill some blanks. Good selection of sweets, the only missing thought l thing coming to mind is the traditional gingerbread with jam and chocolate. The "sójové řezy" thing that puzzled you so much is "soy slices" and is one of the cheapest things you can get. Very good and satiating. And is the same thing that's inside the "Margot" bar. Eating one of these is as good as a decent meal so it's always good to have one around. Pro tip regarding the "ledové kaštany" put them into a fridge overnight, that will explain the name "iced chestnuts." Very hard and very dark. Now the paste inside "kofila" is chocolate with coffee. The Arabian-looking fellow enjoying a cup of coffee and the coffee bean is a clue. The "Hašlerky" is a sweet with over a dozen herbs in it but what is really interesting (aside the flavour) is the manufacturing process. They mix the substance very thick and pull it into a rod about half-inch in diameter, and punch it into the desired shape in much like steel is treated in factories. "Mila" is popular for its mellow texture and won the "unhealthiest product" competition several times over the years. Still people favour it, nonetheless. And for a good reason. What else.. if you got the impression that there's coconut in just about everything, then you're right. Despite being a country with no sea or tropical flora we sure love our coconut.
With regards to coconuts, I also notice that at least in my wife's part of Slovakia (Papradno) The expression 'Ty Kokos' is incredibly popular!
The proud Czecho-slovak seafaring traditions of saying "Ahoy" and drinking Grog...😀
Awe I was hoping Ralfy would be in this tasting video too. Him and Clive are so funny together.
Damien did you watch the Russian MRE video with the vodka?! I though Ralfy was hilarious!
Clive you are demonstrating your versatility as a showman, excellent review, maybe something you would do quarterly. Good job taking one for the team with the flaming guitar sweets! Luv your channel!
Your blissful attitude keeps me happy, man
One of the best videos as it really shows the viewer cares. Also clive goes into the products very dilligently which shows respect to the gift giver and viewer.
I never thought I'd have my mouth watering over a Big Clive video. Good job.
I bought a couple of those (expensive) early Philips LED's when they first came out, and they are still working. And you can't go wrong with chocolate! I've found that the older I get, the more dark and bitter I like my chocolate. Same for coffee.
Yeah, provided it's real chocolate, not frosting mislabeled as chocolate....
Your reactions are just great! I was laughing out loud the whole way through...very enjoyable. :)
I have some Slovak friends who sometimes have "their own" sweets, they are usually pretty awesome tasting too. The unheard-of sweets that you can get in Lidl and Aldi, usually with foreign writing on the packets, is usually better than most of the standard UK stuff you can buy too...
aldi , lidl used to be more interesting, but now i guess they have to have english descriptions on them, thus limiting what is available from the inner parts of europe. although lidl cola used to be the most disgusting thing ive ever tasted
cose it;s not for drinking but cleaning engines ;)
+Justb1066, admittedly I haven't bought any in a while, so not sure what's currently available. The ones I had in mind were like single fingers of a KitKat, individually wrapped in their own foil+paper, in a box of about ten or twelve. They had similar dimensions to a single KitKat finger but tasted approx. 1000% nicer!
im waiting for the ruby chocolate stuff they talk about, not seen it where i live yet
ZIGZAG! The KitKat is actually and original from The UK Great Britain 🇬🇧,/ London, England 🏴 my friend 🙂😎✌️
You've got me in stitches here. Chili Gitarren reaction was a treat. Well done! 😂
I'm getting a nice ASMR vibe from the wrappers. Love your channel! :)
16:20 sójové řezy means soy cuts and i love them so much😍
finisek 123 So it's a soy, as in soy bean, based bar? Or am I being stupid?!
Yes. That is exactly what it is. Soy based sweet bar. Worth trying. It has a great non-standard taste :)
Pete Allum Yeah, indeed. And it tastes almost exactly like some of those soy-based protein bars (minus the chocolate frosting of course).
He sent you two of each of many of those, that's a PERFECT opportunity for a Ralphy cross-over episode again :)
I thought about that, but Ralf is a bit of a snob when it comes to candy.
Ralfy being a bit of a snob about something? That doesn't sound like him
Dustin Sparks It would take Ralphy six hours to taste and explore the nuances of each these :)
Even better!
Just because there's more than one of something doesn't mean it's for sharing - especially goodies!
I am so jealous, what a fantastic present.
Absolutely amazing, watching Clive biting into salty chili and then dousing the fire with children drink while talking about LED lamp phosphor. Amazing!
Big Ashens
At least clives bag of goodies are not expired haha
Ashens doing MRE: rashens. Clive doing MRE: *BIG* rashens.
in date food? disgusting, it needs to have a sweet scent of rot to be edible *Jokes ofc*
There goes Clive's diet for 2018.
New Jersey Bill That IS Clive's diet for 2018!
Big Clive is gonna be even bigger!
I actually can't say any of the candies you ate had cocoa bean pictures on them, they all look like coffee beans. Am I just not used to seeing cocoa beans split open, and always seeing coffee beans in half?
Nah, there were multiple candies that had coffee taste in it and with coffee beans on the packaging. (Czech here)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were coffee beans. Especially since Kofila has a coffee filling which I think clive mistook as a dark chocolate flavor.
I think they were coffee beans. Barely anyone uses beans to indicate chocolate taste, they mostly use chocolate bars etc. They don't look much different from each other though.
I can confirm it was coffe kofila is a coffe flavoured chocolate bar
And also Kavenky has coffee based flavour - in translation it nearly means "made of coffee"...
Very chocolatey with a hint of flux. I love your videos, Clive.
I skim read - saw _"hint of Linux"_ was *very* briefly baffled.
Thanks for the sweet video bigclivedaddy.
Love the reaction to the chili guitar, it was fantastic.
Interesting stuff. Never seen any of it here in the US. It's amazing how tastes differ worldwide, but in the US we have followings for most 'extreme' flavors, tart (citric acid based) and hot of course. but the salt and anise not so much. One that I had a few years ago and was impressed with was a pressed sesame bar of asian (I think Korean?) origin, and it was quite good. Nice overview, you do interesting and informative videos on anything you cross paths with - good show! Also thanks to Ian and Attilla for showing the viewers your part of the world in candy.
Yep. These thin crispy sesame honey bars🤤 Love em👌 Anything with sesame in it really.
Let's call it, "Clive, on the start of the road to type 2 Diabetes." 😄
Right? I can hear his pancreas screaming from here
If your gonna go may as well enjoy it
Send him some tide pods.
Thomas fuck off you normie scrub
Worth it
Yess, Czech and Slovak products :-)
Got no idea. Also curious why... :-)
Protože sakra můžem. :D
JanicekTrnecka Noooo, it's Czecho-Slovak products!!!!!!
Hi bigclivedotcom, most of these sweets you can buy in polish food shops across UK (unfortunately there are not many Slovakian/Czech shops in UK).
So what flavour was the piece of foam?
Probably nothing. lol.
yes. Taste test video for sure
I really enjoy your elaborate use of the English language. It's a feast for the ear.
The best ones are Margot - coconut taste (the best i think) , Horalky and Kavenky - these are usually the very good with tea or coffee , sojove rezy is very old sweet many ppl like it - I like it as well and i think better that Deli or such sweets
I was surprised that there wasn't a box of Rennies tucked away in that box! 😂😂😂
I literally spend hundreds of euros on those candy every year. For me, the taste is just unique and we're all used to it. I rather like the Sedita wafers and Figaro chocolate. Figaro was founded in the early 20th century in my hometown, Trnava, Slovakia. They still produce lollipops and candies I believe. Sadly, they were acquired by Mondelēz 5 years ago. You can get every single one of those products in almost literally every grocery store and gas pump in the country.
That's one of the things I love to do while on vacation. Trying new sweets in countries I haven't been before.
In re pronunciation: "j" in most European languages other than French and Spanish has the value of English "y" "č" = English "ch" as in "church" "š" = English "sh" "ř" = a sound not found outside the old Czech republic
i thoroughly enjoy the sound of mastication
Very nice, very nice. To see a celebrity sweets test and also to get a different perspective on something we here in Slovakia and Czech Republic take for granted on the shop shelves. Sadly the majority of the traditional Czech sweets have been fully colonized by global corporations and the recipes have been changed - "optimized" - or rather cheapened somewhat. Nestle and Mondelez now own the traditional brands like Orion, Figaro and Sfinx and all the bars like Koko, Margot, Kofila, Kastany, Deli. One of the few truly local brands in this selection is Sedita from Slovakia - all the wafers like Mila, Kavenky and Horalky and also Snehulky and the circular cookies. Also Marina biscuits are locally owned and made in Slovakia. Also this reminds me of TatraTea - herbal liquor from Slovakia, perhaps you have heard of it. Those German black salty chilli things at the end were hilarious, I have to try them sometime :D
Best ASMR video ever
I just spent 27 minutes watching you eat candy... and I loved it...
Clive's 24 hour long range patrol MRE. Approx 55,000 densely packed calories. Let's get this out on a bench, NICE!!!
The "not overly sweet" reaction was SO Steve1989 :D
Next it will be that the trash whiskey is "Oh that's gourmet"
After all that candy it will be biggerclivedotcom.
:D holy......
Befriends Radio Hi Befrienda Radio
My mum brought be back a half-dozen Cherry-Ripes from Oz last month, the best choccy bar I've ever tried.
Watching you unboxing seemed to go on for a long time. I take it that the box is bigger on the inside. Seen the teardown what about a schematic on your ClivePad
Your pronunciation is realy great. Btw I realy love Kaštany. :-)
Absolutely do not care about the nom-nom complaints. What are they, three to the hundreds? Keep up the juicy work, your channel is greatly entertaining!
I'd happily listen to you masticate all day, Clive. I'd have gladly watched you open each one to try it as well, rather than cut away. I wouldn't care if the video was two hours. I'm insane. I love you.
And we are supposed to respect the borders of countries who cant even decide on where it should be amongst themselves
It's time for everybody's favorite segment mailb......oh wait iiiits postba........oh wait It's um.......posttime?
Actually it was mealtime.
I'm from the US (which set the gold standard for international apathy), and even I knew that Czechoslovakia was dissolved in the 1990s. Given your recent sweets binge, I hereby award you the title of Honorary American, Clive. (Apologies for dropping the "u" from "Honourary".)
Clive, is the Deli bar maybe like a Mars bar? Not sure if they have those in the UK, but that's what it looks similar to in my American eyes.
The menthol sweet looks very similar to sweets in Australia called minities. They are kind of like a mint flavoured toffee so I bet they would be great to try.
The Slovakian guy forgot to send you Studentska chocolate. I love that stuff. Greetings from Poland ;-)
akkudakkupl and don't forget about Lentilky
The OG chocolate in sugar coating! Like them too :-)
And what about Kofola and czech beer... I will send something possibly... 😎✌️
I didn't forget about it, but it was too heavy. I had to fit into 2 kilograms, because then I could send it as a letter, paying much less postage than if I'd be sending it as a "box" (even while technically it was sent in a box)
I commend you for your smart abuse of the postal system. Still not sending Studentska... Crime against humanity ;-)
I would guess you like the Kastany the best since you ate it twice lol. Great video, now I want to eat candy
There are a huge variety of 'Fisherman's Friend' lozenges that, despite being made in the UK, are never sold here. But they're available in other countries, especially eastern european : special flavours for every national taste. Maybe some non-uk subscribers could send Clive some for a taste test ?
I could not stop laughing when you ate the spicy candy! My stomach hurts! I live in Arizona... the land of spicy food and your experience completely cracks me up!
Clive, do you have a link for that UV laser that you used on the old lamp?
That cut! Epic!
Everytime i'm on a strict "no choco" policy, i return here to suffer.
I hope you had a strong dose of protein to stave off all that sugar, Thanks for your review on the candies and hope your weather is better than ours here in the Pacific North Western US. (Seattle, Wa to be exact)
Bad Clive! You know that you should always test with a multimeter before you stick your screwdriver in! 😉
You can get Margot, Vesna, Mila and Milena in some poundland stores (they often print a label with the English ingredients on the outside).. damn I wish someone would send me chocolate.
Maybe you have heard of the BREX? Where those lamps used on Star Trek? Globes are a round map of Earth. Bulbs grow in the ground.
Clive do more MAIL openings !!!!
Mila is my favourite Slovak chocolate bar followed closely by pistachio Deli bars and dark chocolate Kaštany bars!
25:50 was a great reaction!
John Ross I just keep clicking the time on your post "fffffucking hell, uh"
Big Clive, you should definitely try Moravian or Slovak wine and brandy. Especially the home distilled spirits are fantastic, strong but if produced properly you have no hungover on next day after drinking sprit with 52% abv or more. It usually looks like vodka, clear but aromatic after fruit (plums, grapes or gin like "borovička" made of juniper berries).
I made it to 14:51 and then my stomach started to hurt just looking at all that candy -- and imagining sampling a bite from all of it.
Enjoy!
Slightly past half way into this and I had a sudden urge to make coffee, with toast plus Nutella on the side, lol.
prisoner and soldiers have get similar boxes in Slovakia. where you are now are you serve?
The next Clive fan club meeting should be an exotic candy tasting event.
Polarbear looks like vick's blue. It's very nice of that person to sent you all that candy.
A friend sent me a load of different Salty licorice sweets from Finland and I was surprised that I really REALLY like them. Everyone I shared them with had a similar reaction to yours. I'm honestly starting to think I'm chemically addicted to these things. The first time I had them I thought they were a bit unpleasant, but I kept coming back for more.
I've been working my way through the salty stars.
Supah Linkio Also in the Netherlands, salty licorice is popular & I've enjoyed many varieties :)
It is cool to see other countries treats.
I do love horalky. Not easy to find in the uk though
The making of hard candies is rather simple as they pass the still soft candy when it is hot between 2 wheels that shape it. As the candy cools it hardens into the form we know. For simple candy they can just feed it in as a snake to get it sized right but more complex requires sheets of the candy blanks like the ones that have something inside them. Candy the world over is made the same ways with just the flavors changing to match the local tastes.
Clive gives more favorable reviews than Ashens would. I'd still like to see a collab wih those two.
I forgot about Haslerky - as you said with herbs..this is used when you are sore throat and BonPari - nice taste..Slavia are good one also ..but not so..
"I didn't even know Czechoslovakia had split up." How the... I don't even....?
The masticating noises help describe the texture. Don't change for haters.
Hy plz sir share a video how we make led cube and how we control with arduino circuit.and also give a code
why why
Sójové řezy are made of soybeans... it's cheaper version of Margot Kávenky and kofila have coffee flavor and Kaštany have chestnut flavor
Amusingly you taste tested the 'Kastany' one twice a few minutes apart, maybe it's just me that noticed that though :P
Sojové řezy is actually made from soya, with sugar and rum falvouring, and margot is a very similar thing
How can LEDs damage the phosphor when normal fluorescent lamps generate UV-C and UV-B in addition to strong UV-A light, which the phosphor converts into healthier wavelengths?
