Someone may have already said this idk but if I’m not mistaken in wii fit plus (or was it resort… idk…) you can explore all of the island by bicycle once you unlock that specific mode… or even in the jogging maybe… i dont remember exactly and i dont have my wii with me atm cause I would check it right away otherwise but I am pretty certain that in one of my games there was a freeplay mode to explore where you wanted and when I am able to use my wii ill update…
When I was a kid this placed seemed like heaven to me, I’d do anything to go live there because it seemed so happy and peaceful

i've ALWAYS wished that wii sports resort just had a "stroll" mode, where you could just walk around wuhu island. its such a beautiful world nintendo created, and with details like how all the sport locations are actually on the map, it's just begging to be explored up close.
The free roam cycling mode from Wii Fit Plus was my favourite thing from that game. It's exactly what you're looking for.
You could do that with your plane actually ! :) Of course everything feels smaller than when you're on foot.

Wuhu Island's one of the safest places to visit thanks to almighty Matt protecting the island and its residents from natural disasters and attacks. Safe from tourists, on the other hand....let's just say it's best to never question his glorious power Swordplay Showdown, Cycling Road Race, and Island Flyover has always been my favorites. And the music in the game SLAPS
I really hope the Sportsmates don't infiltrate this place and die away.
thank you for saying good things about the glorious leader Matt you may see your family for 5 minutes today
Wait, Matt is the protector of the Island? I never knew that. I thought he was just the CPU Mii that is the champion of sports like Boxing and Swordfighting. Thanks for pointing that out. I also like Swordplay Showdown(and even Duel), Cycling Road Race, and Island Flyover, along with Basketball Pickup Game and Table Tennis Return Challenge. The CPU Miis are also interesting. Besides Matt, I was wondering who is your favorite?
@@y.k.2726I think Matt being a protector is just a head canon. For favorite Miis I’d say Lucía and Eva (maybe the rest of the champion basketball gang) are up there.
I would say it's not too safe. You can still knock out miis that sometimes roll into the volcano in Swordplay Showdown
when i was a kid, my family didn't have a lot of money, so we didn't really play videogames until our grandparents gave us a Wii - the version that came bundled with Wii Sports Resort, which we played all the time, for years. my brother and i shared a room, and when we couldn't sleep, we'd make up stories about our miis and shenanigans on Wuhu Island. thanks for bringing back some good memories :')

The weird part about this is Wuhu feels like a real place
If only it was real, would love to go there
I feel like we all have had atleast one dream of Wuhu island
I think a big part of that is the scale of the island and how it's portrayed. You get to fly over all the areas you'd normally be walking/running/biking etc. over in the other minigames. Really makes it seem like a complete location
Yep
Some billionaire should buy an island and build it just because they can
Honestly if Nintendo had made a Wuhu island game like animal crossing game I think that would have been pretty sweet. Building and improving the island along with events you hold would be pretty fun
Please don't tell me I wasn't the only one that wants an open-world videogame located in Wuhu Island where you can walk around the island doing lots of possible activities (and I still really do).
i would kill for this. I just wanna make a little character and live on the island for a while. Almost like an animal crossing, sims, wii sports/fit mixture. Getting to know the Miis, helping the mayor set up events and run the town, doing little quests, playing all the sports and dress up my character/home with all the virtual money you get for playing sports. dreaming of it
Wii Fit U included a minigame called orienteering where you can walk around the island freely
can’t sleep tonight, thinking about an open world wuhu island game on the switch,, if only
if switch brings back the wii resort, Imma buy it
Honestly the island reminds me of sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Season_of_Sanctuary?file=SoS_Promo.png If you wanna enjoy a free world on mobile like this check out Sky children of the light ^ that picture is an island from the game you can fly around it’ll be on switch sometimes this year for free as well

I wish I could recapture the feeling of flying around in that mode as a kid, it was brilliant.
I remember my siblings and I would play Wii Resort and use the "Island Flyover" mode to do what we called "lightning diving," where one of us would fly the plane straight up to the top of the map, cut the engine, and dive straight down over the water. The goal was to successfully start flying just in time to skim the water and not get ejected.
My brother and me would race to be the first to crash our plane inside the volcano
I doubt youll ever see this but for the island fly over there is a secret. If you hold the 2 button starting from when you are picking a Mii character till you see your plane it removes the timer. But only if you have collected more then 70 of the IPoint locations. Its really cool since I can fly around for larger chunks of time now
This sounds like one of those video game myths my friends told me as a kid.
There's still a 5-minute timer. It just removes the balloons and i-points.

I just watched this instead of studying and I have zero regrets. This uncovered a joy I haven't felt in years, since I first played Wii Sports Resort.
The island seemed so magical back in the day. I just loved the whole idea of going to the island irl for a few days to walk around and try all the sports. Of course, it'd probably cost an arm and a leg since most real life resorts do, but as a kid you don't really focus on that.
Imagine if we got a Wii sports resort remake on the switch, but instead of a selection screen, you walked around the island and go to the location you want to play the sport at.

The rhythm marching band game in Wii Fit Plus was one of my favorites. What made it more engaging was that depending on how well you were doing determines how many miis join the parade. So it was always fun to grow the parade and make the event more lively
Funnily enough, when the timer reached 10 seconds I'd fly as high as possible and when it reached 3 seconds I purposely press B and see my Mii fall to it's inevitable doom

I remember my first encounter with Wuhu Island. It was in Mario kart 7. 2 days ago i found out if you tilt the marker in 100-pin bowling as little as you can in the same way as your throwing hand, then go to the edge so it lines up with your throwing hand, you can get the ball on the railing and if it goes all the way to the end it hits a red button that autostrikes for you, very cool easteregg
It was my getaway home for the better part of four years during my early childhood. Wuhu Island shall remain in the memories of early 2000s children forever.
island flyover has always been my favorite, so idk how i've never heard about pilot wings resort until now. just bought it, thanks for introducing me!!!!!
(gasp) Hi. Same :D
Same. I'm gonna look into this
@Sawtooth Waves that was basically the only sport I played, always dove into the volcano lol
@@PrinceApollo117 Me too, I always tried to pull up in time, was great fun.
Yeah! i loved island flyover the most but my brother hated it, he liked basketball and games like that. I loved island flyover and showdown where you can go all over the map
They’re really missing out by not making a multiplayer open world game of wuhu island where there’s a story, mission, games you can play (all the sports it allowed) it would also be cool if there were random events where maybe there’s a tsunami and you have to help the town or like the volcano erupts would be poggers
Yea and the story would be like a villain trying to make the volcano erupt and destroy the island
So animal crossing Wuhu Island DLC
Or a VR version
Holy shit imagine joining up with your friends and walking around with your friends and stuff god now I really need this
Gta Wuhu
I love this island, and Wii Sports Resort now and forever. I'm so glad I still have a fully working Wii and Wii Sports Resort.
one of my favorite mod appearances is the wuhu island map for boneworks; it's such a cool experience to walk all over the island in vr
If they ever make a remake or whatever, they should just call it “Wuhu Sports” so it isn’t tied to any specific consoles anymore.
Bro that’s perfect
I see this as actual series, Well done thinking
Wuhu Island Adventures could be a storymode to save the island from a person trying to make the volcano erupt, or someone unleashing the power of the ancient temples. Think sonic plots in an open world map
You’re a genius
@@greenstorm5568 You’re also a genius
In Wii Sports Resort if you get all the "i"s in the island flyover game it gives you a house on an island off shore. You cant actually do anything with it, but its a fun little easter egg
not really an easter egg, it's mentioned in the "i" reward page but getting all of them was definitely tough
I was missing like 2 of them that I never found
I had to use KZhead to find the missing “I” points ☹️ I’m disappointed in myself 😔
@@disneyhistoryandfacts I didn't have internet at the time so I couldn't look it up lol
I spent forever getting all those i’s
I'm so glad this got recommended on my youtube homepage. Wii sports resort was a favorite game! My favorite activity on Wuhu Island was either cycling (with the Wii remote and nunchuck) or the airplane because I got to go through the volcano and explore the island in both. It's too bad my remotes are all corroded though otherwise, I'd be playing it now
Glad I'm not the only one who played Wii Sports just to chill out on Wuhu Island for a bit. I always felt safe and at home there. There was no shortage of places to go and see, the little interest points when flying around, or for a light jog. Wuhu Island is home for everyone.
