Man this game has this “I rented this last minute because dad told me it’s time to go and they were all out of Banjo Tooie at the Blockbuster” vibe.
In the best way though.
This feels like somthing my 13 year-old hot topic-loving invader zim watching self would have drawn in my notebook in math class super fun looking hope we get more spooky-looking Platfoomers in the future.
Right?! Just looking at the goats, my first thought was the devs must've been big Jhonen Vasquez fans.
This game is unironically awesome. The more you get into it the more you realize just how much interactivity there is in the environment, how many clever secrets there are, and how well it uses its moveset and makes you think about it.
This game has been made by the guy who also made Lyle in Cube Sector, a homebrew 2D metroidvania from the early 2000s, which puts him alongside the OGs such as Pixel (the original Cave Story dev).
I read “Lyle in Cube Sector” as “Lube Sector”
Jonathan Davis loves this KoЯn KIDZ 64 TITLE
Yeah because the crappy nu metal band is the only reference to corn in the world 🙄
@@MISOFOREVERRRStop it!...No!.
💩
The CRT filter in this is really well executed. White still looks white from all the extra bleed into the empty lines, but you can see the scanlines most other places. I wonder what's the deal with that glitch on the middle text row though.
The main character is animated really well
If Cavern of Dreams can make the jump to the Switch (it'll be coming to the Switch at the end of February), hopefully Corn Kidz releases on there at some point, too!
Me too, cause this game looks super fun right now.
It's coming out this month on the Switch.
This game looks ridiculous and I love every second of it
Certainly they knew what they were doing to bring breeze of N64 3D platforming nostalgia to modern platforms 😃😃😃😃
That pain he felt over the timed fountain was the realist pain.....
on the topic of charming writing, Mystical Ninja starring Goemon and Mischief Makers had some very fun, charming writing. Even if Goemon kinda had problems with japanese puns having to be localized.
Did this man just go "Got that Clussy" XD
I've been playing this recently and its been a lot of fun. There's a really rewarding feeling to the puzzle solving and platforming that I don't usually get with other games recently.
This could be a Bonk Adventure game.
*Matt* *Mcmussy* *In* *Bio* but yeah this game is kind of *goated* ...also fantastic father and son moment and this reminds me a little bit of Invader Zim
Old enough to appreciate something like this. The 3D Grafix are very nice and I hope this trend of purposefully low poly games continues.
I think the dev of this game also made a game a long time ago called Lyle in Cube Sector. Its a Metroidvania that has a mechanic involving throwing, stacking and jumping with cubes. Its freeware im sure, give it look.
Dang. I thought Matt was going to make a rhyme,"This matress down below, will surely cushion my blow", instead of cushion my fall.😁
The smooth, bouncy animations look so good with the low poly models! Also, I wonder if that huge grimace face was a Monster Party reference.
7:28 Oh yeah, I’ve been down that rabbit hole before. That was a weird time.
14:37 Having already completed the game, I love vicariously seeing your joy at all the little first experiences
8:27 Button mashing? Not stick spinning? Is it even an N64 game if it doesn't torture you with its controller?
Loving everything about this. Hoping it gets a console release. I've been feeling N64 nostalgic lately.
This is exactly what I need while I grieve the Switch port of Wrath: Aeon of Ruin.
I want this game on console's really badly
Loved this playthrough, glad this game is getting more recognition. I bet Simmons would like this game!
These new retro inspired platformers are really good at making endearing playable characters. He does a little bleat everytime he jumps! Thats adorable.
you should do another episode of gameplay with this one! Lots of fun to watch
This is delightful
Duck Dodgers 64 had charming writing
More PSX/N64 style games to play? Friggin Pseudoregalia!!
i gotta say, the devs nailed the look about as on the head as anyone could do. outside of the frame rate being really good, this feels REALLY authentic. at least, i cant think of any N64 adventure game that had a good frame rate.
Blood for the Blood God 64
It's like if undertale characters were designed in the style of X-DuckX and put into a cult classic gen 5 game. Amazing.
Matt McMuscles retro character platformer when?
Im down for the aesthetic, but man that filter kills me lol. I hated shitty CRTs even as a kid. Later model or high quality ones were great, but that washed out crappy Magnavox thats been on for ten years straight drives me nuts. The issue with scanline filters doesnt help too.
Got this dirt cheap during a sale, and it was a super pleasant surprise. Even did the super hard optional final challenge.
Dat sum squash and stretch right there my man, very nice
I need more games like this! Any tips? I liked A Hat in Time
This is very impressive! It looks like a N64 game even though it's not. It's like the developers took what's functional in the N64 collect-a-thon games and made a whole game out it.
If matt really likes goats, I can't wait till he finds Pseudoregalia. Lol
This was a game I wanted to check out but haven't gotten around to it. It's super cheap and very Banjo-Kazooie inspired.
I can definitely see nitrorad doing a video on this game
I wish this game was called goat gamer 64
I looks fun, but when will they do a N64-like racing, fps, action-adventure or fighting game? I like 3D platformers, but N64 had other things too. (I don't expect a Tetris, Dr. Mario or Panel de Pon game)
If you like more retro-styled GOATed platformers, you should try out Pseudoregalia!!
Not so many Bafmodads that it's a collectathon so that's nice.
This looks like my kinda game! 👍
Man, when I grew up and joined the internet, I was surprised to find that the N64 controller was widely regarded as shit. I've always loved it. It's comfortable (imo) and if you compare it to the Wiitroller, it's basically a deconstructed N64 controller. The centre stick to literally the nunchuck. And the C buttons functioned pretty well as a second stick when needed. Maybe... for me anyways, its a big hands thing. I'm also what guy who loved the duke, and was literally crippled by the Joycons. So maybe I'm biased.
YEEQAAAAAH CORNKIDZ
Man I hope this game comes to consoles since it looks so amazing and sadly my PC can't run it well... But maybe sooner or later can comes to the Switch since is the most easy, friendly and accessible console to port games.
Have you played it on labo
0:55 I mean, I think a lot of people would say PS1, PS2 or even the SNES was the best console ever. I think plenty would dispute calling N64 the best. I agree with you, but I'm just saying.
It's a joke
NINTENDO ULTRA 64 !
Love you Matt something fierce but I have to say, Playstation 3 is the greatest console ever! The library, backwards compatible, the interface, the controller etc 😊😊
Huh. I didn't know JFJ is in this game.
KoRn!
KoRn!!!!!!!
It's vr
Mcmussy in bio
The animation on the main character is fantastic. I wish this was on Xbox. I wish we could get more 3D platformers on that system.
Conker's Bad Fur Day is the closest I can think of that has a solid story with good humor sprinkled through. YMMV.
“Nintendo of all gaming companies should be releasing games for their previous consoles. Why are these consoles abandoned? Nintendo could make a zelda 3 on a nintendo entertainment system tomorrow and sell the game for $200. 😢
Production lines cost money which they can't justify with the short production numbers they'd be able to get out of that. It would be much easier to create a certification program for repro manufacturers to create fully legal rereleases.
Such a corny game lol 🌽 🍿
Another N64 inspired indie title game, and it looks awesome. Really nailed the N64 style, and look exactly what you expect Nintendo would make back in the 90s.
