High Ski Edge Angles is by far the most wanted skill when it comes to Ski Carving Skiing. The reality is that most Skier including those who are Carving often struggle in achieving High Edge Angles (those which forces your hip to the ground) especially in steeper terrain.
In this video, I walk you through a four step framework that will guide you through essential drill and focus to ultimately increase your edge angles, improve your SKI IQ and have a lot of more fun
Also if you truly want to improve your skiing we will review your skiing videos and come back with our feedback.

  • When I'm teaching intermediate skiers how to carve, I talk about the cross-over. This, in my opinion, is the most difficult move to master because it requires moving the center of mass across the skiis and down the hill. Very scary at first, which is why the skill is developed on flat terrain. Then, I add in hip and ankle angulation, which is much easier once the cross-over is mastered. With recreational skiers, I find that core strength is a limiting factor. These students can master the moves, and not execute well because they lack core strength. I point out that Mikaela Shiffrin devotes an inordinate amount of her conditioning work on core strength. The last factor is snow condition. This video shows the turns on perfect, groomed soft winter snow. It's a lot harder on hard pack, over bumps, in slush and other non-optimal conditions.

  • Truly nice four-step framework 1. Early Edge Angles 2. Progressive Edge Build 3. Edge Similarity 4. Edge Angles also ice touch on the less universally known Platform and Q angles. Armed with this framework and with the CARV insoles “quantified skier “ are surely learning faster … as for our edge angles our max is still below 90 😅 but has been consistently increasing …
