Learn how to use Short Reed Goose Calls with World Goose Calling Champion of Champions Sean Mann. Sean uses the Shorty, the Call used by 2 time World Goose Calling Champion Kevin Popo, on this instructional video. Truth is that the techniques Sean teaches you here work on EVERY Short Reed Call made today.
Forget all of the NONSENSE that others teach, like-
- Using 2 hands on the call (1 hand is plenty, and let's you use your flag with the other hand)
- Planting your tongue (seriously? try planting your tongue and talking. Makes a ton of sense, right?)
- Back pressuring the call (which means blocking the end of the call to make it break from low to high. Again, Seriously? I want the birds to hear me. Try yelling with your hand over your mouth...)
- Grunting all of the time to produce a low and/or raspy sound (If the call is made properly, it has raspiness and low notes built-in. It doesn't take all of that effort to make the call sound great.)
- Blowing your brains out (Most people think that volume is a function of hard air pressure. It is NOT. It is a function of efficient air pressure, taught here)
When you apply the techniques Sean teaches here, your calling will become EFFORTLESS, you will use 1/10th of the air that you thought you needed to be proficient, and you will actually be conscious when the geese land in your decoys! Calling is supposed to be fun, right?

  • The only instruction you'll ever need. The way you present follows the way you call. Very Clear and easily understandable.

  • I’ve been watching KZhead videos all day working on blowing my call (first timer). This video took me from birthday party horn to sound 10x better and the consistency I was missing. Thank you sir!

  • Sean is no joke. No bullshit calling approach. After speaking to him, I realized i was calling wrong for a loooong time. His calls are very goosey and sound great when you work on using less air to call! A 30 minute conversation with him changed my approach to calling! Great dude and great calls.

    • Thanks for your kind remarks. Not calling wrong, necessarily. Most people are just taught to call by blocking the end of the call and planting their tongue "gruk, gruk ,gruk. That requires so much effort and greatly limits your ability to create multiples. Calling from the gut is a sham. Planting the tongue and going gruk, gruk ,gruk is a poor technique. It turns you into a 1 trick pony. I don't care who made the call you use, using the tip of your tongue as a pressure gate and air manipulator is the key to effortless calling. It opens the call up and helps you develop a vocabulary and produce multiples.

    • My pleasure! Hoping people will realize that planting the tongue, mandatory grunting and mandatory back pressuring a call to make it work are all just poor excuses for poor equipment. Calling should be as effortless as talking. Hoping to help many, many more callers. Thank you for your comment.

  • That's really excellent, and I didn't know how many of my harmonica playing techniques would be echoed here, maybe you are a natural harp player!
