World's Most Feared Gang | Guatemala: Meet the Maras
Inside the Real Narcos - Complete Series: • Meet the Drug Lords: I...
Guatemala is one of the most violent countries in the world. 95% of murders remain unsolved, and the ultra-violent Maras manage drug trafficking, prostitution, and racketeering in the country and spread terror among the population. After several weeks of negotiation, we gained access to some of these gangs.
In the favela of Villanueva, Pedro is at the head of Barrio 18. That he has reached the age of 32 is practically a miracle. It’s rare for gang members to live past 25. The police who try and control his gang are woefully under-equipped. Sometimes, they even have to buy their own ammunition.
Faced with these disturbing levels of violence and an impotent police force, many citizens are choosing to arm themselves. Gun sales have increased by 20% in just one year. Others prefer to join local militants and combat the gangs directly.

You're on the right track with your videos, the themes appealing to younger people. I get it. Maybe you are wondering why low views. Well besides the obvious of lack of attention of the gen z so they do ten seconds videos, I'm having an many channels not currently hot viral are having, is we simply pumping out too much.. people can't handle us and our higher vibration because they're spiritless. Without the light body self spirited. Because a lot of us are getting discouraged. This world is an oppression matrix.. it's only trying to steal our light and definitely not empower us. Make more shorts and you can even connect them to the full video like say tyler Oliveira channel he does that well. I just made a lot more shorts and some of them viralize more than any long videos ever do

The fact they think it's okay to extort they community is such cowards in my eyes
Yes! Vultures preying on hard working people just trying to provide fir their families. I wish the citizens would hand together and rid their society of these criminals. They aren't "conducting business", they are serial killers. Imagine how great tourism would be if it were safe. I can't imagine what the officers face.😢 I will be praying for the good people of Guatemala.❤🙏

Watching from Canada but I was born in Guatemala. I’ve been back many times since I was a kid and I love it. If you stay away from the Capital where the gangs are concentrated you’ll see how relatively safe and beautiful the country is. I’m going back in September and I can’t wait.
This documentary is focused on gangs (maras) from Guatemala and it sounds like Guatemala is very dangerous and unsafe, like you mentioned; it is relatively safe. I go there 3 to 4 times a year and I don't go to places where I know I may come across gangs. I do the same here in LA as well!
@@carlos122exactly I visited it twice a year in the city, saying it is the most dangerous country it’s exaggerated.
Ok bye
I hope what you guys were saying is true, but I still won’t risk my life going there for holiday ,
@@crazyhorse3344 It’s okay that’s your loss. There are dangerous areas even in the United States or Canada. If you keep living in a bubble you’ll never discover the beauty of this planet.
A simple rule of thumb is that if you see a country surrendering to gangs, it must have something to do with the politicians in that country or another country that benefits in some way. Individuals, even if they carry a powerful weapon, cannot overcome a highly trained group of police and army, powerful and sophisticated weapons do not make a powerful fighter. So politicians make it easier by reducing support for the army and police and making them weak logistically and even in terms of training, sometimes under the pretext of lack of resources. In those countries, don't be surprised if a family can't find a handful of rice for dinner while a politician's teenage son drives a Lamborghini
Thank you for your comment. You made me think, and I learned from what you wrote and now I understand the world better. Thank you❤️
Here here, all developing countries could becom wealthy if it wasn't for corruption and the lack of common law. But hey they will blame the West all the same

I hope that they get tough with these low thieves like San Salvador. The people live in fear. Makes me sick.

"95% of homicides are never cleared up." That speaks silent volumes.
Especially when he puts his face on a documentary and brags about killing people and fears no repercussions.
Part of it is not true, Guatemala isn’t a violent country at all, these guy can’t generate more content with El Salvador so they resort to making content about Guatemala
Even being a poor country is a very high # of unsolved crimes which tells us a lot about politics and corruption but we never hear of incarceration of innocent citizens.
The country and most of her people are great, but any presence of violence and corruption will ruin any place 😢

Very true. Guatemala's a wonderful country with amazing people. I once forgot my $500 tablet at the market in Quetzaltenango after buying some produce. 20 minutes later I realized it when I wanted to take a photo....I ran back and was flagged down by a young man calling out, "Señor señor! Su tablet!" His older female boss had kept it safe behind their stand.
@@dgaydos You were lucky. I had my credit card stolen when I stayed in a hostel in Antigua. Someone must have gone inside my backpack while I went to shower. They spent 75 bucks and I was without a credit card for the rest of my trip. Still a beautiful country so I took my wife there - 17 years after my initial visit. Xela is super run down but Flores has become neat and tidy.
Pedro couldn't chase down a donut if he tried
Neither can Christian. Oh well, good on him for helping to remove gang tattoos after he decided joining a gang and getting paralyzed was a bad idea

You ever notice how every gang is the most feared, I wonder who’s the least feared. Another thing, if these gangs are so strong and feared why do they always live in the worst neighborhoods
money
That's their birth place & deadly playground.⁶ìy
They live among the regular people, like regular people, in their own territory that they control. And yes, whichever territory you are in, they are the most feared. If they didn't live there then the other gang would move in and take over. These guys will kill you or kidnap your kid for not paying "protection" money. All while the other gang, in the case of this documentary, Ms13, is doing what they can to kill every member they find and attempt to take over the racket in the neighborhood. As for your comment, arenyou suggesting otherwise? Like it's not true?
Because they couldn't get away with their behavior within a wealthy community.
@anonymousprivet1227 NO, it's because those in the wealthy neighborhoods get in to corruption at the government level and don't need to join the local gangs to survive. There just as much crooks, maybe worse.
Ridiculous what people do to their own people

Antigua was never sketchy lol, go to Philly, queens, Newark, jersey city, Baltimore or Detroit, go in the hoods and I’ll bet you’ll come out in a coffin.
@@myworld4257Well, my man, I was speaking more in terms of Guatemala as a WHOLE rather than just Antigua, but ok. Oh, and I would never visit those s***hole cities you mentioned because I don't go to places where people do not value life nor know the difference between right and wrong. But thanks for your input.

Lady it’s only a small porcentaje of the population who are extremely poor and maybe a 20% of people who are the lower class, not everyone is getting killed like it’s portrayed in the video, they’re doing the same documentaries that were done in El Salvador and now doing it in Guatemala, stating it’s a poor and violent country, which to a certain point we have poverty and violence but it’s only in specific areas of the country, it’s like saying America is a very poor country and there are a lot of mass shootings, which isn’t true
A lot of people here are educated but some aren’t.
Paying criminals to film them..your part of the problem
You've got a point. But are you sure they got paid paid or perhaps you're mistaken it for compensation. The owner of the Channel must take care of all sundry in exchange for a story. That's the way that I know it works with these documentaries. The BBC once came to my house in Soweto Johannesburg, 🇿🇦 They covered all expenses and even food for a whole week. My uncle was stabbed in the heart and they did some one of a kind operation that got him in the History books. It was the first time I ever saw White people. I was 6 years old in 1989. It was still during Apartheid. We had no TV no electrify in Soweto so the first time I saw a White person was really the first time I knew that there's such. I was shocked. They were from overseas so they were not racist or anything. It's those ones that smoke all the time. Every 5 MINUTES. And they throw away half a cigarette
