Certain moments like this transcend the logo on the chest, like when Philly gave a standing ovation for Mario, and when Pittsburgh gave a standing O for Oskar Lindblom. That element of shear appreciation for the athletes seems to run deeper in hockey than in any other sport.

Anyone who's familiar with Fleury and his personality and everything he's done for the Penguins and the entire organization know what kind of man he is. Fleury was always the kind of person who quietly led this team with his always positive outlook and happy go-lucky personality. He meant the world to Penguins fans, he meant a lot to the organization, and he'll always remain in the hearts of Pittsburgh. Not even including what all he accomplished as a Penguin, he's just a wonderful person to all his teammates, all his competition and everyone who's grown to admire the guy. He'll always be a legend in the city of Pittsburgh and he just might carve himself a place in Las Vegas lore at this rate. I don't know if the Penguins will ever beat the Knights so long as Fleury is in net. I just think his larger than life personality will stop the Penguins from ever winning against him, lol. And to me, it'd be fitting in a way. Fleury was always that kind of guy who tried so hard, worked so hard and yet could laugh it off when things went bad. Any time when things went right, he was appreciative and never seemed to take it for granted. He's a once in a life time personality that is so rare today, and the city of Pittsburgh was unbelievably lucky to have him for the time he was there. I'd bet most fan bases would give a lot to have a goalie who not only was great in net, but great in life too. Just a special guy who's genuinely earned all the love and adoration he gets from Pittsburgh fans. It was oh so bitter sweet when he left, and it'll always be bitter sweet when he returns, but he also deserves a starting job and if this were a perfect world, he'd never had worn a jersey other than the Penguins'. Keep kicking ass in Vegas, Flower. You were too good for Pittsburgh, and the hole you left might never truly be filled.

He wasn’t too good for Pittsburgh. It was a match made in heaven. This will always be his home. I think his heart will always lie here. He did so much more than play hockey during his time here. We all loved him so much, and still do. It’s a shame that we couldn’t keep him. Personally, I think it could have been a mistake. I know Murray is very talented and definitely helped us get the cup, but Fleury was such a huge part of this team. It’s bittersweet seeing him on our ice again. Though this time, in a different jersey. 😕

I mean, you'd probably have to be a sociopath to not cry in his position.
Now Fleury is a guy who deserves a tribute
Chad B what about Crosby if he ever gets traded
Crosby getting traded???? Unthinkable!
Crosby will get a tribute alright. When the pens retire his jersey
@@my5husbands5 crosby wont ever get traded
Chad B man if only he could’ve stayed and retire with the Penguins
Flyers fan, instant tears. When a player embodies everything a city stands for, and becomes part of the whole, that moment was bigger than the sport itself.
Well said. Check out Teemu Selanne's return to Winnipeg in 2011. Seriously a tear jerker!
kzhead.info/sun/a9SAmJqmiYaYloE/bejne.html
Certain moments like this transcend the logo on the chest, like when Philly gave a standing ovation for Mario, and when Pittsburgh gave a standing O for Oskar Lindblom. That element of shear appreciation for the athletes seems to run deeper in hockey than in any other sport.
He belongs to Vegas! We lucked out!
Well said friend from the other side of the state.

Appreciate you making me cry.😢
How tf you supposed to play goalie if you got tears in your eyes. Man this is heart-warming. What a great return for flower.
101bobert rumour has it that Vegas went up 1-0 in the game so they played the tribute video to make him emotional. They ended up winning.
This is a completely false and idiotic rumor. The Pens have always done the tribute video after the first or second tv break

the people of Pittsburgh that was classy way to go
As a people of Pittsburgh i thank you
Agree, big difference compared to all the islanders fans
our city appreciates blue collar hard working people. Flower was a 100% Class act in all facets of his tenure here. idc how long he plays in vegas with all due respect to vegas Flower will always be a penguin. 3 cups and the guy literally had the selfless act of mentoring the guy who supplanted him. unreal. and if im the Pen G.M im sorry i protect Fleury and let the nights take Murray.
Fleury was a legend here... absolute class act and a hell of a hockey player.
You can tell his heart is still in Pittsburgh..
100%
Well ya half my heart just moved to las vegas
He’s giving his all with Vegas too. But I get what your saying
i get what you say but i don't really think so. he'd been ready to leave for a long time, and he's a great guy to build a new franchise around, and i feel like he loves it in vegas. on the other hand, it's absolutely true that he'd been in Pittsburgh for a long ass time and he has a lot of friends there, and that doesn't just disappear after you go to a new team
True fleury belongs In Pittsburgh
Fluery will always be a Pittsburgh Penguin.
♥️
It's been years and I still watch this. Fluery is the best goalie we've ever had and I wish he wasn't stolen from us. I understand why we kept Murray over him but still breaks my heart

We loved the guy here in Pittsburgh it was a sad day when he left
That city loves him. He deserves every tribute he gets. He'll get one from Vegas too. He started that franchise and is the face of it too. Think about that. How many guys can say that they were that important to 2 cities? He'll never say it but both towns love him and respect him so much.
Not sure if he’ll get one from Vegas now 😬

Yeah we saw that mentality Wien jagr came back as a flyer. Really classy
As a pens fan I have to say that I was disappointed on how they treated jagr every time he came back. Why boo him? After all he did for this organization smh
Like Danny DeVito
I really hope that before he retires he at least signs a ceremonial contract so that he can officially retire a Penguin.
Even today I still miss fluery
I knew this was gonna suck. I still feel like he’s one of ours.
He led our team to the finals. He is a great one on our team and he was a great one on yours 👍
He is still yours deep down. Not a pens or knights fan but deep down, I still know him as a pen.
As a Sabres fan, that choked me up. As much as I despise the penguins, Fleury has always been one of my all time favorite goalies

I’m bawling my eyes out
I will remember this moment forever. This is PEAK Pittsburgh right here. Love our city!
Adam Grasinger This is almost exactly how I feel about Marleau as a Sharks fan
Adam Grasinger Well, the Penguins beat them in this game, sooooo...
Adam Grasinger Even when he almost fought Budaj he was still smiling.
Just imagine that. Imagine that feeling. Imagine having a team thats now your rival and its fans, show you that level of respect and love, as you're about to play against them.... Insane.
i think he sprayed that water in his face to try and mask any tears that may fall😭 i love this
Pittsburgh knows how to show love and respect to fan favorites who have meant so much to them.

Kai Murray i cried as a detroit fan😂
Kai Murray I would cry to goof.. team is a travesty ahaha

As a Habs fan, you do enough crying. But gotta love the kindness all around on this. This is cool.
- Amazing tribute from the Penguins & the fans. Class act all the way guys. Obviously Fleury was an integral part of Pittsburgh's 3 Stanley Cups in 2009, 2016, & 2017. And now the Vegas Golden Knights so far are reaping the rewards of Fleury's tremendous play in goal. Plus, Fleury is just a good guy & class act all around. Very well-liked by fans & his peers around the league. :-)
I suppose he was a huge part of GETTING them to the 17 cup haha
Let's hope Murray's two cup wins weren't a fluke
Golden knights wont get to the finals
You're not lying there. As of now the Golden Knights are in the finals facing off against the Capitals. it will be good hockey.
Fleury was in my hockey sport program back in high school (as well as Pascal Dupuis) and when we organize friendly games during the summer with old teamates they show up to play once in a while and they are both great guys. They love the sport and they dont care about your skills or where you're from. The kind of guys you take beer with after that :)
Take a bow MAF...well deserved. HOF nothing but respect to this awesome goalie.
Fleury just won his 1st Vezina!!!! Congrats Flower!!!

Rahul Nagi I like the gold lining. Rask has that too.
In three straight drafts the Penguins drafted 3 future Hall of Famers in Crosby, Malkin, and Fleury. That doesn't happen often, no matter what sport.
yeah fleury always had creative masks, Murray on the other hand has a pretty plain mask
@MikeWhipkey Give Murray some time. He may start coming up with some creative masks as well. He's only been in the league for 3 seasons. I think he is more worried about playing well so he can earn a bigger contract.
