DRIVE is still my favorite Dacascos film. It's insane how overlooked this talented man has been. He should have been a huge Hollywood action star.
He was 31-32 in Drive ! Looks like someone on the top physical condition on the early 20s. While me on 33 has lost an abs, gain 15 kg and a shoulder pain because of office work 😅
Drive is my favorite Mark movie i love Only the Strong Mark should have did a Drive sequel with Kadeem.
@@antoniochapman3986 I would STILL watch a sequel.

Mark Dacascos comes off as a really decent human being. Love this guy.
his personality is similar to the character he played in Only The Strong. Really good energy
I agree, he seems like a fun loving guy
I saw that movie by accident and was very surprised how great the fight choreography was!
Mark is a fantastic person. Very real, and kind. Somehow he always makes each person feel like they are the most important person in the room. Charisma for sure.
Mark Dacascos is a childhood hero! Genuine, humble person. Terrific martial artist and actor. You’re a gem Mark! ❤
I love how you hear "Thank You" at every 5 minutes from one of them, because they admire each other that much. Two absolute legends, it was such a pleasure to watch this! Keeping the love for the martial arts. Hope Scott can have Jackie Chan at some point, holy crap that would be epic as hell o_o
Thank you 🤣
Just like Scott Adkins,Mark Dacascos is one of the best action star who deserved and still deserves much more recognition . One of the greatest ❤
Yeah man he is underated
i would love to see both of them together in a movie.
Mark is always on tv in America like every night
Just before this interview, I didn't have a good opinion about him because of his Double Dragon movie, so having bad popular movies can ruin your career.

These two are so similar. Handsome, skilled martial artists, great actors, extremely humble and overwhelmingly underrated.

Mark is a gentleman and a polite person, you can feel that from his talk and his body movements..
Yes! I love how humble he is!!
crying freeman is actually one of the few good live action Manga adaptation.

I love Only the Strong and Crying Freeman! 🤩🤩
I love how so many martial arts masters and movie stars are just the most humble people. Rather than clashing egos, they just compliment the hell out of each other. Such great role models. It'd be nice to see more of that attitude in combat sports.
Fighters in combat sports are real martial artists, because as the name suggests, martial arts were developed for fighting and killing people. 99% of those movie stars never competed in any combat sport, so what are you talking about? The atittude fighters present sells the fights, it's their job. How can you say that someone is role model if you don't know any of these people in person? They are humble and nice to each other, because they are actors, most of them have never fought anywhere, it's not what they do. It's hard to call role models people like Van Damme, Seagal, Michael Jai White and even Bruce Lee.
@@smesh141 I never said they weren't martial artists, read things properly before you reply
@@alstone4253 No, I said that and explained that.
@@smesh141 you can sell a fight and still be respectful to one another. That sort of attitude should go hand-in-hand with marital arts training whether it involves combat sports or not. Also how can you say you have to know someone in person to judge them as a role model? That's a ridiculous statement. I guess next time someone says Nicki Minaj is a bad role model for young girls, I'll just say "you don't even know her!" And how the hell do you say you can't call someone like Bruce Lee a role model?!
@@alstone4253 Of course that you can sell fight being humble and respectful, but it's obvious that you can sell it much better when tension between fighters is stronger. It's their job, that's what they do for living. Most of the time it's not even real between them, it's more staged. Same with movies, someone can ask why martial arts masters (as you call them) stars in movies where there is so much brutality, revenge, hurting and killing people etc. To make money of course, but it's staged, just like most trash talk between fighters. It's obvious that in public most people try to behave nice, but we don't know any of them in person. For example Bruce Lee, he can be inspiration in many ways, but role model? There are no role models, people try to idealize famous people basing on their public image and behaviour, but they are just regular people with ups and downs. Bruce Lee for example was addicted to drugs, why most people never said anything about that? Because they idolize him and it doesn't fit to their perfect image of his which they created in their own imagination.
Scott is really an extraordinary person, this series makes me appreciate this martial art movies even more . I can't believe we're getting this content for free thanks for your hard work mate
Hear hear!
I fell same....
Exactly
I had no idea that he did interviews. Got this channel (and this video) into my feed by random luck. A VERY welcome surprise. 😎 Its always nice to see Mark in whatever. The dude has serious, if underrated charisma. And even though i havent been following Scott for as long, he is growing on me. A very impressive martial artist and performer. And it is pretty neat to hear him use his natural accent. I didnt expect him to have such a good narration voice. If Scott ever gets bored with doing MA films, he should look into voice acting.
Scott is awesome now.
Scott is a really good interviewer. Mark is 56, dam I need to get off my ass, stop the beers too. Real motivation. Thanks Scott.
No, he became immortal thanx to his personality / in movies .
Brotherhood of the Wolf was a very, very good movie, it's not a martial arts movie for me, the plot it's just so interesting.
I almost cried watching that movie ...
@God // you have to watch it in French with subtitles. The dub is hilariously bad! 😂
In the UK loads of exposition is edited out of that film due to a real life cockfight in the background during a scene I remember finding the film somewhat confusing because of this . I should give it another try with the uncut version one of these days
That was a great movie
Yes! Brotherhood of the Wolf is just brilliant! classic for me
“Only the strong” is the best martial arts movie. Mark Dacascos showed the most amazing skills.
I'd like to see Scott Adkins playing Bruce Wayne/Batman. He's got the look, the jaw, the menace. He'd probably be the best Batman since the Animated Series.

The energy, kindness and humility that these two men transmit is amazing, they are very big. I hope these interviews continue with JCVD and Keanu Reeves ... it would be amazing. Thanks to Scott, you are number one.
And some UFC fighters that have done some movies

No argument there
KingsMan but think rush hour came out first
@perredaobry3753 Rush Hour came out one year later
Definitely! That movie really spoke to me....it was just martial arts mojo right there....
It's so beautiful to see when a wealthy man that has everything (humanly possible) is still humble and modest. Kudos to both martial artists 😇.
It's crazy how Mark asked Scott if he'd worked with Keanu yet and he says no, then boom he's in John Wick 4. Mark has probably the best moment in the John Wick franchise, where he says "that was a good fight."
I stumbled across this by accident and Mark's joy is infectious! What a great guy.

Scott Adkins, thank you for doing these interviews. I've been blown away by your genuine love of martial arts and film, and particularly your disposition of curiosity and humility towards others. It is very inspiring to see you operate at the highest level - in your martial arts - and not lose your sense of wonder at what others are doing and your willingness to learn from them. "Drive" one of the most underrated martial arts movies of all time! The fight scenes with the electric batons were legendary!
Seeing two accomplished martial artists and enormous action stars giving each other so much praise, respect and kindness is genuinely heartwarming and inspiring.
His real life attitude, makes me think that, when he gets excited when talking to John Wick, he wasn't acting. Seems like a very positive and likeable dude! Its nice to see how you guys have admiration towards each other.

Mark is such a humble person. True legend!
The Crying Freeman “Mark Dacascos” Aloha
Such an underrated movie
I mean, who knew that Mark Dacoscos is like the martial arts version of Chris Traeger?! What a beam of pure positivity in a human shell. Stunning episode as usual Scott!
I remember back when Drive hit VHS, my Mother didn't want me to watch violent movies. I got together with some mates from school, i scrounged up $5, one mate provided his parents video rental card and another his house (with permission) whilst his mother was at work and we rented Drive. We were blown away by it, some years later when i moved out i found an ex rental copy on VHS. It was like finding gold. A memorable film amongst so many choices at the time.
Next, Michael Dudikoff, please :) Greetings from Romania!
Mr.Adkins you are the sweetest fighter in the world big love from Egypt

Drive, Double Dragon and Brotherhood of the wolf are my favorite Mark Dacascos movies!
Man every time Mark says thank you and puts his hands on his chest I can't help but smile. Seeing this guy in John Wick 3 was such a treat.
The guy is such an energy-rush. You already know what happened with John Wick 3 but you still cant help feeling that "yeah" emotion when he tells how he was upgraded to be main villain and asked to be there the next day. And then they also had Silat masters Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian in John Wick 3. Thats like a dream team of movie martial arts.
I've been a fan since "THE CRYING FREEMAN".

Many years ago in Sydney, while filming the Matrix sequels at Fox Studios, Keanu Reeves walked into my video store. He requested some recommendations on martial arts flicks. He was of course well versed in anything to do with Woo-Ping and the likes of Iron Monkey, so what did we recommend instead? Friggin' Drive with Dacascos. He rented it and loved it, said it was 'fantastic'. SIDE STORY: He would not take off his bike helmet for fear of being recognised... which half-worked, because once he started speaking there were many chucklesome double-takes from customers.
How did you know it was him
He knew it was Keanu because when the guy recommended “Drive” Keanu reacted by going “Woah dude, EXCELLENT!” and bust out some air-guitar.
@@elrey1176 Keep in mind this was near 20 years ago now, back in the age where you couldn't rent a movie without photo ID and a credit card. So at one point in time I not only had all those details on Keanu... but his mobile number as well! "Woah". Besides, if you spoke to Keanu for a good 15 minutes odd, bike helmet or not, you really wouldn't recognise him? He obviously did not have his visor down if it need be said. But yes, we had confirmed I.D... and I must say everything they say about this guy is true, just a really sweet fellow. In any event we were very fortunate that our Video Ezy was situated near the hotel where Fox Studios typically housed their talent, the same Fox Studios where they shot the prequels as well as a number of Hollywood flicks of the time, so I had meetings with a bunch of other celebs: Ewan McGregor He was in a great mood with a permanent smile on his face and rented... a great white shark documentary of all things! Rick McCallum Came in and was fairly surprised I immediately recognised him. Bit reserved but a cool chap. Natalie Portman One of my staff was such a fanboy and so nervous at attending her he forgot to give back her credit card! Which kinda worked in his favor because then she had to come back. He then begged for the CCTV surveillance of this exchange which no doubt he has to this day on some altar somewhere. Anthony Anderson This guy was hilarious! Pretty much carried on like one of his characters. When I asked him to pick a 6 digit password for his account, he went with "Only six? Hmm, ok... LILDIK!" He said this VERY loudly while looking around with a big grin. Then when he came back in the next day he ASKED to immediately be prompted for his password so he could loudly say it again. "LILDIK!" "LILDIK!" Very funny guy. Temuera Morrison Swaggered in with a tiny blonde on his arm... who was about the same physical height. I immediately praised him for Once Were Warriors and the phenomenal performance he gave. I have to admit I was probably the most starstruck by this guy. Real strength of presence at that time and just... a casually cool dude. Anyway, there are a lot of others, especially aussie locals like David Wenham, Rachel Griffiths, Craig McLachlan, Isla Fisher and not all were terribly nice, but this book is long enough. Fond memories to be sure.
Drive is an awesome movie! Good recommendation. Specially for "The Matrix" inspiration.

Mark Dacascos was so underrated back in the day: crying freeman, only the strong, drive, The base, Kickboxer 5 (thats what it was called in germany), The Crow TV Show. How about David Bradley, the american Ninja no one remembers? The other guy in the american Samurai clip.
