It's possibly the most important 'subject' to learn beyond the three R's, yet seems to be one of the least taught thing. I don't even know where I learned it, since was not something really on the curriculum in school ( back 30+ years ago, before www , deepfakes, 'ai' generated articles). Most of where I actually cultivated it, came from comedians like George Carlin or Bill Hicks. I seriously think a school class based around stuff like 'George Carlin on Advertising' would be more beneficial, than knowing where every country is on a globe, or what year the Battle of Hastings happened.

I know we have to get to electric vehicles eventually, but there are quite a few things about them that need to be improved/perfected before they totally take over. If they have an $80000 price tag, I couldn't own one. And if it costs $10000 to replace the batteries after 5 years, that's another big expense. They need to make these cars affordable, safer (especially preventing battery explosions), faster charging, longer ranging, and be able to function as completely in sub-zero weather as they would in the summer. I worry that since I'm the kind of person who buys the $2500 specials off the used car lots to get me around town, that someday I'll be disenfranchised from driving because I can't afford a car to drive.

Why the government always go after high tech companies but leave the insurance, food and oil companies alone who are fleecing the American??
IDK about rural areas & small towns, but here in Columbus, OH, there are charging stations all over the place! I've seen a charging lot in Reynoldsburg, stations along the street (where you can charge your car where you'd be parking anyway!), & even a charging station at a Walmart! Also, you CAN charge your car at home with a regular outlet in the garage. It just takes longer (like overnight)!
The antiquated and lack of electrical infrastructure to meet the needs of the EV market needs to be addressed. At some point the states infractures will not be adequate.
Looking at more nuclear power is scary.
I don't know how long it took for the "gas station infrastructure" to fully develop (where there was a gas station reasonably close depending on ratio of cars to population), from the time motorcars were on the road (say 1905) but lets say 30 years. I think it's reasonable to expect the same sort of timeline.
@@MoonlightingJamesExcept there was a huge boom of oil pushing the growth of the infastructure for gas powered vehicles. There is no such boom for the production of electricity. We're afraid of going nuclear and none of the renewable options is even close to enough to sustain our current grid let alone the massive increase of energy that EVs would demand.
My wife and daughter don’t like going to gas stations either!
It's so complex, but there really needs to be something done about these huge companies being monopolies. Really.
You can have enough stations across the country for EVs but will the electric grid be able to handle increased demand?
Even if it can't the solution isn't to give up on electric cars. The solution is to improved the grid. However, it's not so bad thus far because a lot of people charge at home overnight.
Yes. This concern is overblown pearl clutching. 80% of EV charging is done at home. This is unlikely to change much or quickly The growth rate of EV uptake is slow enough to easily allow for electricity infrastructure upgrade.
If we truly have a consumer-driven economy, the infrastructure will be built, and the truth is, we do charge overnight mostly. It’s long trips that are very concerning. It’s a safety issue. Gov has to step in and hold electrify America accountable for their lack of upkeep and d ease of use.
@@SolidAir54321 if EV was solution to helping the environment the powers that be would not be pushing it lol. last time I checked the schools low on educating our youth but ya lets focus on ev. The government is not our friend.

They want you to think the government is against you. But in reality you have the power to vote for your government. You have no vote in corporations. Corporations are not democracies. Corporations are like dictatorships. They're controlled by one or very few people called a board of directors. Why are you against the only institution where you _do_ have democracy? The crisis of climate change is a fact. EVs help to mitigate that. So promoting EVs is a good thing regardless of whether you like the government or not.

Turns out that her political prowess was just her railing against the system without an actual change in place. This is why we don't listen to teenagers who are going through puberty.
The main issue with EVs is the infrastructure not being able to support the demand!
And right now, it's worse for the environment to power them without a full nuclear grid.
Yeah... I mean, seriously, you can't own one if you don't have a garage. My neighbor recently offered to give me his 4-year-old Nissan Leaf b/c he's upgrading, and I had to turn it down because we only have street parking and wouldn't be able to charge it. 😔

@@demery39 I don't need your prayers.
“Don’t make fun of my millennials” 🤣🤣🤣
It was/is a good conversation- Thanks Utube and Maher!
Kara Swisher just told Don Lemon that he is more gay than black. She said it to his face at that. Whatever the hell that even means😂
Once you amass enough wealth, you're the elite. You're bubbled off from whatever demographic America says you were. Even if you're discriminated against, you still have way more privilege.
Isn’t his boyfriend White? Lol
It means he is more about the culture wars than about the real problems that are faced by the American lower and almost extinct middle class
I can tell you this....straight black men have negative attitudes towards gay black men.
@@chimchimindiandragon Why do you say "almost extinct"? I think it's growing larger and larger but, like most middle class people, the black middle class is pretty silent. Don Lemon is not middle class, at least based on income. I'm sure until he got fired, he was making a solid upper class salary.
“Great” Overtime this week and great guests!
St Patrick's Day "number 1" Bill best day ever . Except Christmas 🎁is wonderful.
great panel.... love Kara Swisher
Great panel. Thank you!
just a bubble.
LOL
Kara Swisher just joined the list of my favorite people.
Kara is a gift to the nation. She is brilliant.
Love the witty banter from the panel this ep, thanks Bill! 🎉
Big companies hate regulation and fight it unendingly via lobbying and lawsuit...😢😢😢
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They love when regulations exclude their competition.
@@SuperLeica1 Exactly! As long as it hurts others but not them.
You should fight every bad regulation. Nazi germany everything was regulated, then they took the guns and then 6 million dead Jews. The left is literally on the wrong side of history trying to disarm America when most of us are good law abiding citizens. The criminals however are the politicians that INFRINGE.
Large corporations love regulations and are usually the ones lobbying for it. It helps keep out competition
No sane person would want to be trumps lawyer.Period!!
You sound like what some said about Nelson Mandela. You’ll be on the wrong side of history as well
@@rogerc23 lol,how dare you compare trump to Nelson Mandela. The only thing trump stands for is trump!
Trump will go down in history has being on the correct side and saving the country
No adult would be a Trump lawyer.
The only lawyers that want to protect the people and the consitution are the new Trump lawyers.
Can we do something about our choice for utilities, why do I have to go through PG&e. They raised their rates 22 percent, probably because they are making us pay for their manslaughter fines
I LOVE MY GOOGLE PHONE! 😂
Smart phones have more computing power and ability than 99% of the population needs. 99% chance you're fine either way. Apple's gonna cost more and there's a status symbol going on like a Mercedes. But again 99% don't even use 5% of what the phones could do ten years ago. Nobody needs 4k decoding on their phones. They'll build and bake in the software updates so you need to upgrade eventually but really for most people you should be holding on to your phone as long as possible before recycling it. It's 99% marketing.
Smart phones have more computing power than the first systems onboard the Apollo rockets to the moon.
This is exactly why apple is the status symbol, though they did teahouse a few years ago: whereas Samsung has a massive range, with a flagship all the way down to cheap options, apple thought they're rolls Royce, only need 1 model, then sales stayed dropping when those who couldn't afford it, that's why they've come up with ways to keep you locked in
Marketing, exactly, & it's not just phones, it's cars, handbags, cruises, don't get me started on jewelry, esp diamonds. Just billionaires tricking dumbo folk who have money to keep spending or to impress others
@@kurtsudheim825 They all employ planned obsolescence but I'd agree Apple is so much worse. It's basically their manifesto.
I get laughed at frequently, because I use an older flip-phone, that suits my needs just fine.
Ice cream is great!
Especially a Big Red Homemade Blue Bell vanilla float!
Creepy Joe agrees.
That is a brave stance and I applaud you for it. 👏👏👏😛🍦
When contemplating the cloacial nature of a reciprocating encabulator from the perspective of an emasculated dingle arm it becomes quite clear that metrics prove the inherent greatness of ice cream.
Compared to most sugar sweeted cereals not that much difference
Kara consistently provides an informed, rational perspective. Great to see her re-frame some of these questions into digestible content.
I enjoyed these two women together. A nice contrast and good discussion
Peter Zeihan explained inflation (and a lot of other things as well) better than anyone...he would be a great guest.......
Link
Also as stated here it's not inflation as much as it is price gouging
They should put it under the live tab on their KZhead page.
That's for livestreams done on KZhead. These are segments uploaded as videos.
So much better than the actual show.
Here's a tip: when a host is trying to explain a bit to the audience, you shouldn't interrupt and say "I'm aware." We know you are aware ; you're the expert.
Both those ladies were very quick and witty. I'm impressed
Raise your standards
EU has no problem making acceptable laws concerning these big tech companies.
For the first time in a really really long time, bill had a show where I actually agreed with him on most everything
Kara Swisher is one sharp lady. Flaring of brilliance an makes a great guest.
So brilliant she responds to statistical data about young men as a personal attack and replies ONLY with defensive, egotistical anecdotes? 😂Also, were you not a reader during the years she built up the false celebrity images of tech bros in the early years? 😂
@@hd7704 , True I was not a reader when she "built up false celebrity images of tech bros". So I can't form a complete opinion of her. An people change, keep this in mind. But from her recent takes she strikes me as highly educated woman with our interests in mind. I'll grant you the term "our interests" could be debated depending on our P.O.V.
No CNN?
Hope not. It's better when they don't have to censor themselves to be on network
I know I noticed that also… I’m surprised he doesn’t mention that
I could imagine Letitia James saying in court on Monday, "Trump said he has $500 million in cash on hand, but according to all the financial records he turned over, we're not finding it. So, where exactly is it?"
The women are killing it this episode.
The thumbs up I gave is only for Kara and Beto in this discussion. You have to listen to Kara Swisher and Professor Galloway on their Pivot podcast; they're brilliant. Do I agree with everything they say? No, but they make good points and inspire good conversation. I've learned so much from them.
Your kids are doing great! They're in college! Like that is the definition of our youth doing great?!
It never gets old hearing vain narcissists declare their moral superiority over vain narcissists who have actually achieved something in life.
Well said.
I don't live in Texas but I have a hard time believing Beta when he said they are banning women drivers. He is leaving something out or stretching the truth somewhere.
Yes I can't figure out how that is even enforced
Not women drivers; women driving out of state or country to get an abortion.
yeah there is definitely more nuance to what he mentioned, but he was talking about women driving out of state for abortion procedures, not women drivers outright. from what i've read in the texas tribune, there are actually ordinances put in place by cities on or near the interstate borders, like amarillo for instance. however, they don't actually have checkpoints or physical barriers. they're mostly meant to be discouraging scare tactics. enforced or not, these ordinances are unconstitutional either way
That's not what they said. They said banned women from driving on the road to cross state lines...to get an abortion
@@sardonicspartan9343 why would they be banning women drivers lol 🤣 a little comprehension is necessary
