Pretty crazy to catch this well-made video so early on when you don't even subscribe to the channel. I mean 550 views, 95 subscribers and a great product.
Thank you for the great comment @MSordernature ! I'm still learning a lot in this whole KZhead journey so your feedback is very much appreciated (: If there's anything specific you'd like to see in future videos, feel free to let me know! Have a good one! Thomas
Criminally underrated! This video is really clear and structured. Can't wait to try out the movements
Thank you for your awesome comment @ArgumentumAdHominem! I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed the video. I must admit, making it clear and structured was quite the challenge, so your feedback means a lot. I'm excited for you to try out the movements! Have a good one! Thomas
@@thomasjesiek Your work is extremely welcome. I have been doing calisthenics semi-actively for like 1.5 years now. I can do 8-12 strict pullups or chin-ups, both very slow and very fast. I have a dream of doing a muscle-up. I have been practicing a few preparation exercises, and by exclusion found out my grip to be an extreme weak point at the moment. My max hang on both hands is anywhere between 1minute on a good day and 20s on a bad day, and max hang on 1 arm is 5s on a good day and 1s on a bad day. No clue why the variance is so large, and no clue how is it possible that my grip has not improved by itself from doing basic exercises. I conclude that I understand nothing and that I really have to dedicate time specifically to training grip.
@@ArgumentumAdHominem I'm planning on creating pull up & muscle up videos in the future (: If you have the capacity to do 8-12 strict PU reps then the MU should not be far away. Continue developing your general hanging capacity and work on a false grip hang with gymnastic rings. From there you can continue practicing a false grip pull up and dips, combined with transition work. When starting you can use a little momentum but build up to the strict form! If you want to perform it strict on a bar I would start with slow and controlled eccentric muscle up's combined with your dips & pullups. Hope this helps (: Thomas
I'm really surprised more climbers haven't covered this topic outside of hangboarding.
This whole vibe sort of feels like a combination of Magnus Mitbø and Chris Heria, which is just delightful. Easy sub my dude-keep making great content! 🎉
Haha thank you for the kind comment @ffafum :p Guess I should start contacting some bodybuilders/powerlifters and taking my shirt off more often :p Have a good one!
I don't even climb but this video looks very promising for building a healthy hang. Alas, the youtube algorithm isn't all that bad.
Thank you for your comment @OneLastWo! Very glad to hear this! You are completely right that it could also serve "non-climbing" people. I just really enjoy bridging the gap between the movement and climbing world (; Have a good one!
Just getting into this as a 50 year old gym rat. Just set up a bar and setting up ropes and various other body weight apparatus all over the yard because bodybuilding has made me stiff like a useless beautiful statue. Great info... Liked and Subbed!
Hey @Jiraiyashouse666! 50 years young is the perfect time to start. Happy to hear you are building your playground to bring that beautiful statue to good use (: Wishing you a lot of fun and suppleness ;)
This video is really well made, with clear instructions and progression... and you only have a few hundred subscribers! I have no doubt you'll have tens of thousands of people subscribed soon enough.
Thank you for your nice comment @rubenbahr2083! Very glad to hear this feedback, making every step clear is still a challenge ;) Haha, let's hope, I quite enjoy making these videos so lets see (: Have a good one!
Awesome video. May the KZhead gods bless you.
Haha, thank you! May your wifi be strong and your skip-ad buttons come quickly 🙏
Thank you KZhead algorithm I wouldn't have found this without it
Glad the algorithm brought you here! Feel free to hang out a bit more (:
Absolut gem of a video
Thank you very much @Zorro9713! 😁
Great video man, keep up the work!
What is up with high quality channels just popped up out of no were
Haha thank you for your comment @surge-fox ;) I think there is more information than ever to learn how to get this going. This in combination with a passion/obsession for a certain topic helps :p Have a nice day!
Thank you, great video! Reminds me to come back to the basics agai and again
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video @finnb5155! Going back to the basics is always a good idea. Planning on diving deeper into those mandatory skills in future videos (: Have a nice day!
Really nice video mate - thanks! Particularly like the inclusion of the gentlemen at 0:31 , always good to have something to aim for!
Thanks for the comment @AndreS_22246! Got to pay honor to the brachiation kings ;) Have a good day!
Great video! Please do something with lights in talking parts
Thank you for your feedback @user-rb4ne2lc6y. I'm trying to make it better. I use a basic 3-point lighting and have played around with my camera settings and with some overlays in the editing. For some reason it's still not as clear as I would like it to be... If someone some ideas to improve it, let me know!
You've got solid content information. I'm sure the quality of video execution will improve with every new video made. Subscribed!
Thank you for your comment and encouragement @NaruteetheFodderPianist! Trying to improve with every new video. Have a good one!
Excellent - so many good ideas, nicely illustrated. Am definitely inspired, thank you!
Thank you for your kind words! @kxs7267
Great video, I'll use some of the advice definately 👌
Thank you @wiktormarcinkowski-fotogra8392 ! Wishing you strong and mobile shoulders!💪
Really good advice for shoulder training.
Thank you for your comment @eilertsenconsult ! I will definitely create a video only focussed on shoulders in the future (: If you want to make your shoulder training even better, you can check out my blog where I present a full workout that you can integrate with the hanging: www.thomasjesiek.com/blog/bulletproofing-routine-for-your-wrists-fingers-for-climbing Hope your enjoy it! Thomas
ez sub, great vid mate!
Thank you @its_soops!
Thanks very much for the video.. but i have a one big problem with hanging which im not sure how to overcome.. if i use some sticky gloves i can hang up to 2 minutes.. but without gloves the friction on the bar is sliding down and in about 30 seconds i can't hold the bar anymore.. and the skin starts to hurt..
great video Thomas! Any advice in avoiding elbow pain when hanging?
Hey @roygolan99! Thank you for your interesting question. If you experience a pain sensation in the elbow while hanging, try reducing the load. As said in the video, aim for a strain, not for pain. A strategy that worked well for me is to add some low intensity pushing patterns and a vertical shake. Both can be found in this video: kzhead.info/sun/fJt6o6-GsJp3dY0/bejne.htmlsi=TX9ICei4cHTg5Ir2 If you want to integrate them in a full workout, you can check out my blogpost about it: www.thomasjesiek.com/blog/bulletproofing-routine-for-your-wrists-fingers-for-climbing I'll might make a video soley focussing on elbows in the future :) Of course, if the pain is too intense and persists, seek consultation with an in-person professional 😉 Hope this helps! Have a good one! Thomas
for me i just one arm hang for as long as i can for each arm, all day everyday. i went from 0 seconds and gradually built up to 1 minute.
Hey @TheXeeman, thank you for your comment and insight! That is for sure a way to approach the one arm hang.🙂 Are you holding a passive or an active OAH? I found that developing both with an elevated and depressed shoulder position gives me more control and possibilities for future progressions. If you can hold one or both positions for a solid minute and maintain an 'all day, every day' work ethic, then reaching the other positions won't take long. Keep up the good work! Thomas
You’ve earned a subscriber my Friend this video is awesome!! 🙏🏻🤍 can’t wait to try these , I’ve been trying to one arm hang but I can’t seem to hold it for long, turns out I’m approaching it the wrong way 😂💔
Thank you for your kind comment @Haku..12! Developing the one arm hang can definitely take a while. There are many ways to reach the OAH, but building a solid 2 arm hang is a good starting point. I hope these variations can set you on your way (: Have a good one!
