  • I had your video suggested to me by KZhead. I really enjoyed and learned a few new things for my own packing techniques. I have been working with cardboard myself for a few years when I need to make packing boxes. People, it is really is as easy as you see in the video. Once you get the hang of it you will never worry about trying to find boxes to ship small items again. Great video.

  • Thank You Herrick! I just 'stumbled' on your videos while looking for other ways to package books I've started selling. Your Wiz-Bang Pseudo Box will work great for a lot of the smaller books I sell... and now I know just how to package smaller hand tools also! Count me in as a new subscriber! And I'm looking forward to checking out your many other videos and areas of interest.

  • Thank you for another great how to do it better. I buy 4'x8' sheets of cardboard and make 90% of the boxes I need if USPS boxes are not an option. I gained a couple more tricks and building a box from scratch for odd sized items is not as easy as one might think. Just an option when using a utility knife for scoring a fold try using a simple butter knife, it has far less tendency of cutting the cardboard. Ps. thanks again for the Heavy download I use it a lot.

    • When I worked in a NY State prison industry program, we purchased pallets of 4x8 cardboard to wrap table tops we made. Those big new sheets are great to work with. As an old carpenter I can't wrap my mind around using a butter knife, but I can see where it would be an excellent tool for scoring cardboard. Thanks for the comment. 👍

    • @@herrickkimball Yes that's what I meant just for scoring or to crease to fold cardboard. I too am a former construction contractor.

  • Really very good ideas and very well presented. To the point without any wasted time talking about unrelated things to the task at hand. This will definitely up my game a few levels, providing options I'd never realized. So thank you Herrick! Where are good sources of cardboard for free?

    • lots of people put free moving boxes on craigslist, facebook marketplace, and nextdoor. some stores will happily give you the boxes they get their products in. i’ve had good luck with the dollar tree

    • Stores, Dumpsters, Local post office gets their Amazon deliveries in a 4'x4'x4' box, they throw them away, but saved them for me all winter for garden use in spring. They get 1 every day.

  • Very cool video but I wonder if this concept will work for much bigger items? For example a 14x10x6 box.

    @tha073926@tha073926 Жыл бұрын
    • Probably not practical for things that big. But perfect for many things that weigh less than 1 pound and ship First Class package. I use this idea almost every day to package small items for Ebay sales.

  • Can you do a video on postage tricks to reduce costs. This was great. I seen the one on the box of hammers. I am more interested in postage cost minimization.

    @rickleffel256@rickleffel2562 жыл бұрын
    • I'll think on that. This minimalist boxing technique has allowed me to ship with reduced package weight, which sometimes translates to reduced postage cost.

  • Dumb question, but why bash the corners? Is it to stop them from poking into the plastic bag?

  • Why do you spank each package with a plastic spatula?

    @elelegidosf9707@elelegidosf9707 Жыл бұрын
    • The sharp corners of the cardboard are softened by hitting them. The spatula is a 'Veneer Slick," which is a tool I made many years ago for smoothing veneer.

  • Good ideas overall but why waste a poly bag and have that expense after all of that effort? Your first two items were already in bags inside the box so the outer bag is a waste. Why not make your box close up and not waste bags? (the cost of them adds up quite a bit over time.) You also seem to waste expensive tape. I think you are using twice as much as needed so you are buying it 2x more often than you need to. Over time you are wasting a lot of money on a system that is supposed to be saving money. Just my $.02 Other than that the overall concept is a good one. Thanks.
