Fishing for RIVER MONSTERS! (Catch Clean Cook) | Keeper Sturgeon Fishing
For the fourth year in a row, WDFW has opened up a season on Lake Roosevelt for sturgeon retention. Back in 2017, sturgeon fishing here was one of the best sturgeon fisheries I've ever experienced. However, every year after that until now, the sturgeon fishing has been decent at best especially for bank fishermen like us. Regardless, we pack up and head up there for that chance of landing a keeper sturgeon... or two.

Excellent Video! A little misunderstanding on why people are able to fish Lake Roosevelt for sturgeon right now. There is more to it than stocking numbers. There is a reason why you are only able to keep a certain size. The age class came from a small sample of brood stock so they are wanting to get that age class reduced before they reach maturity. Simple way of saying it is we have thousands of fish with the same parents! Lol!
Yeah, that was what I read back when they opened the Wanapum reservoir too in 2018. I just went off of what WDFW wrote on their site haha.

Great video! I've been wanting to see a sturgeon catch and cook for quite a while now. It looks pretty similar to what you'd see on a paddlefish. I'm going to have to try that recipe!

Our group had 1 keeper. Cooked it with butter, redmond salt and Everglades all purpose seasonings. Baked in foil on the bbq, Delish. Was anchored down river and could smell your camp fire Monday. Congratulations on your keeper.
