My girlfriend and I broke up yesterday. When I left her house, I saw that DONDA was finally here, and for no reason, I pressed play on this one... and believe me when I say that I was hurt so bad, crying so loud, I felt this piano notes running in my veins... it helped me put my pain out. A lot of people don’t realize it yet, but this is truly one of Kanye’s best songs. Probably because this song doesn’t have much rap elements in it, though neither does Runway and that’s also one of his fan favorites. It’s the narrative peak of the album. Kanye cements his identity in his relationship with God and let’s go of his anxiety/worries and his pride. Don’t be distracted by the fact that there’s not much rap, this is an incredible song.

I've been feelin' low for so long I ain't had a high in so long I been in the dark for so long Night is always darkest 'fore the dawn Gotta make my mark 'fore I'm gone I don't wanna die alone I don't wanna die alone I get mad when she gone Mad when she home Sad when she gone Mad when she home Sad when she gone (Loosen right now, the spirit that wants to run) Floatin' on a silver lining (In the name of Jesus) Yeah, you know where to find me, ridin' on a silver lining And my God won't deny me, tell the Devil, "Get behind me" All the stars are aligned, lift me up every time You know exactly where to find me [Interlude] Hallelujah (Thank you, Jesus) Hallelujah (Yes) Hallelujah... [Pre-Chorus] Did those ideas ever really come to life? Make it all come to life Make it all come to life Prayin' for a change in your life Well, maybe it's gon' come tonight [Chorus] Sadness settin' in again Three, two, one, you're pinned Uncle right back in the pen' Tell me how auntie been Took your thoughts and penciled 'em in Should've wrote 'em down in pen And maybe they'll come to life And maybe they'll come to life Sadness settin' in again Three, two, one, you're pinned Uncle right back to the pen' Tell me how auntie been Thoughts, you had penciled 'em in Probably should've wrote 'em in pen And maybe they'll come to life They could finally come to life They could finally come to life [Verse 2] You know where to find me, they cannot define me So they crucify me, how so fazed when I leave? Come and purify me, come and sanctify me You the air that I breathe, the ultra-ultralight beam Brought a gift to Northie, all she want was Nikes This is not about me, God is still alive, so I'm free Floatin' on a silver lining, floatin' on a silver lining So when I'm free, I'm free

@flyjns2 жыл бұрын
@Ames Smith that maybe what kanye thought in this past but Jik and this album prove his thoughts have changed he understands hes the son of the one True God
@jhaialx23992 жыл бұрын
@Ames Smith you have to first get rid of an organized religion. The religion God wants and the religion man wants are 2 vastly different things. (James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.) second, religion and spirituality go hand and hand mind you in talking about The type of religion God wants. people will say there are no rules to spirituality that’s false. There are rules, principles and forces of power that are way more knowledgeable then us. Third Calling yourself a god is only giving yourself a false reality. Pride leads only to downfall, your only leaving yourself susceptible to evil entities. not all things spiritual are Godly the world of spirituality is very dangerous telling people to just get into spirituality without any foreknowledge can be detrimental and can drive people crazy Lastly why would I take your word as if you know Kanye. His last 2 albums and the past couple of years he’s dedicated his life to the Lord. he’s fell short at moments no doubt but saying he still believes he himself is God is denying everything he’s done in the past couple years anyways all love and blessing

The relationship he had with his mother was something I have never seen before especially on the documentary. He never interrupted her, he never spoke over her, he took it all in and his mother would say his name a lot which is an excellent form of communication it releases dopamine and the other feel good chemicals in the brain. This burst of excitement makes people happy and sends unconscious signals such as empathy, trust, and compassion to the unconscious brain. They were so comfortable around each other she knew all of his lyrics. Music can be so deep and it's the ultimate form of expression and he didn't feel judged by Donda and she got to know him on a completely different level which is so rare it would be like letting your parents read your journal or your deep and meaningful conversations on social media. He didn't feel judged by her and she loved them all, Donda is his number one fan! When one of them started to smile the other would contagiously. They would rap together and it was pure sunshine and happiness Hey Mama in the kitchen. I get the feeling his mother was beautiful inside and out. This special and vital relationship was just ripped away he still needed her. He will never get over it and my dad died last year we were good friends, played Chess together. So I feel for him so much. I am glad he is still gifting us with his stunning music. I really hope that one day he will get his pure sunshine smile back

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

This is easily one of the greatest songs I have ever listened to in my life. Not only is the production just phenomenal, but the lyrics and the whole message of this song is so good. Being a Christian myself this song makes me want to focus less on the problematic material sides of my life and get a closer relationship with God. I can’t put into words how much this song means to me.

The burning of his house and then leaving it… it’s like his mother’s death is the creative spark that, while burning him, forced him step out of his comfort zone and continue to move forward as an artist/human being. It still hurts, and as Pink Floyd once said, “the flames are all long gone, but the pain lingers on”. We can’t ever change what happens to us, but we can change what the events mean for us. Donda is not a return to the past to feebly grasp at what he once had; it’s an acceptance of what happened, what it did to him, and as a path for moving forward. Through pain we find transformation. Just like the last line tells us;“I’m free”. It’s such a cathartic track. It’s easily up there with Runaway and Ultralight Beam

He sings about 2 things on that song that I think can resonate with anyone: 1) Wishing you had “another life”, or that you’re so upset with your current circumstances that you’re in a downward spiral 2) Writing down your dreams, literally, and that the power of journaling your dreams in combination with prayer will help escalate your life. The beautiful part about the song is that topic 1 transitions into topic 2 with that heavenly piano shift, making the song more climactic. Really amazing tune

He’s alive brother. He’s never been more alive. One day we’ll all be alive.
Don’t be distracted by the fact that there’s not much rap, this is an incredible song.

that's God calling you.
@Ames Smith We are “gods” in what way?
@Ames Smith that maybe what kanye thought in this past but Jik and this album prove his thoughts have changed he understands hes the son of the one True God

I feel you on that bro

It’s easily up there with Runaway and Ultralight Beam

you're right, you kinda nailed it right there. This feels like the song Kanye would leave buried in his unreleased and then after his death it comes out, and everyone rallies behind it. Kinda like Free as a Bird for John Lennon
An instant classic, his best song ever
Nah it’s good tho
Ghost town his best
@@ebonix33 runaway better tho
new slaves will forever be his greatest song.
Jesus Lord>>>>
Everyone can change and choose the right path in life . THIS ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE
This song is beautifully composed. I’m a die hard Kanye fan. This is the best song I’ve ever heard him make. It just pours out compassion
His best song, in my opinion
Top 2 runaway wins though
We gonna come back to this in about 5 years and realize how this is possibly his most vulnerable song he’s ever made
Can you please shed some enlightenment on me and explain what makes this song so great? I mean if your comparing it to all the trash that is out there right now.. like lil baby, da baby, drake etc then maybe I can understand that your IQ on music is very limited to just this genre of music. But there is real masterpieces out there where this has no place in..
I love the guy and some of his song are pretty good! His a genius compare to the regular population but this is not a masterpiece like is being said it is
@@peterjimenez4166 Music is subjective
Never abandon your family is the most venerable
@@dystopia-0616 I feel like that is the most vulnerable imo
I went to the third listening party and when this song came on it gave me chills. Can’t lie I shed a tear the first time I heard it. Felt like I was watching a movie when Kanye lit himself on fire and walked out of the house. Such a powerful moment. Couldn’t stop crying after I was able to hear this song again in all of its glory. Just incredible…
Nigga it's just a song. Why you crying?
@Matt P Yeah manson didn’t like the album I guess.
I was at the second in ATL for my birthday and this and Moon both brought the entire stadium to a standstill. You could feel the weight lifting in the room of all the people's pain and depression of the past fucked up year. One of the most intense experiences of my life!
Wait he lit what on fire now?
Literal chills xddddddddddddddddd
Its perfect. The chord progression, the melody, the lyrics, the composition, the feeling, the emotion, everything. Thanks Kanye. I needed that.
most underrated kanye song of all time.. beautiful piece of artwork
In the running for Kanye's best song ever.
Rapping over a track that has someone speaking in tongues. For all his craziness this man is touched by God
Facts! Holy Spirit is touching many people through this song.
This song hit in so many different ways. It’s like the 1st part of the song he’s talking about his problems and the challenges he’s faced. The prayers in the background strengthens him. Once the prayers are over the keys come in to signify strength through the prayer. The song then lifts to a whole different dimension. Kanye’s a genius indeed. Praise God always 🙏🏾🙏🏾
My dad was a super huge hater of hip hop. I showed him this song. He told me this was his favorite song he’s ever heard. 6 months later he committed suicide. My mom doesn’t like hip hop either, but I told her our discussions. And I played this at his funeral. I can hardly even listen to this song anymore.
I’m really really sorry 😔😔😔
this is legitimately one of the greatest songs i’ve ever heard
Mr WEST you're a true legend. Being a billioneer and still doing music like this???? Artist and music producer of all time. I salute you bro
only billionaire with a soul
That’s how you know he isn’t doing this for the money
@@avalosalex1993 Music actually loses him money now lol, he spoke on it in Joe rogan interview

Ye really is Disney... This song like a movie soundtrack.
EVER WISH YOU HAD ANOTHER LIFE…
The piano though🥲
It's the piano for me too!
I haven't listened to any of Kanye's other songs, but that piano is pretty good
Tyler the creator on the keys
My boy tyler coming through on the credit.
Up there with Runaway and Ghost Town as one of my favorite Ye songs. I didn't even think that was possible but apparently it is.
Its like streetlights grew up and became a man
