Nope. They screwed themselves out of the HOF with Mr. Roboto, the worst song of the entire decade of the 80's, and an even WORSE video. The Babe, Too Much Time On My Hands, and Renegade Styx....yes. But completely destroyed it with Kilroy. NO WAY!

My wife and I got married on a spur of the moment, it was planned to get married about a month later but we decided right there in the courthouse when we got our marriage license to do it then, have a courthouse wedding. She was dressed up, I was wearing 501's and a Styx concert T-Shirt. We were married for 34 years, she passed away on October 6th. Misty, babe I love you.

My condolences. You are never prepared for tragedy. My mom is at her end of life and my brother's and sisters are already mourning her loss. My dad died of melanoma cancer 25 years ago on March 5th. Non of us were prepared bc he hid his symptoms until 5 weeks before his death. I wS so wrecked I couldn't even grieve properly until 10 years later.

Styx was one of my fathers favorite bands; this was his favorite song. My parents divorced when I was little; he never remarried. Up until the day of his death January 2021 he said he would always love my mom and remember the good times. I just turned 48 on the 12th of July and I still remember being 6 years old sitting at a booth with a jukebox at Dairy Queen, asking my dad for change so we could listen to music as we ate. It never failed that he always asked for this song to be played and every time he would tell me that it would remind him of my mom and everything that she meant to him and everything he couldn't be for her. Every time, it never failed, he would say he regretted not knowing a good thing when he had it right under his nose the whole time and vowed every time, I would be an only child and that his love for my mom would go on until the day he died. Those words rang true until his passing. He wasn't father of the year, but he was my dad and I will forever love him and I'm very fortunate, blessed, to be able to speak heart to heart with him before he passed. Not many get that chance. Love you Nico. I loved you more than I ever thought I did and I miss you like crazy.

Dennis DeYoung's faith in his song while the rest of the band did not like it is truly amazing!! it became their biggest hit!
@Srx-iu8ku11 ай бұрын
Actually, Dennis wrote this song as a birthday present for his wife Suzanne and never intended to release it as a single. A&M President Bob Garcia backs up Dennis' story that when Tommy and JY heard it that THEY BOTH INSISTED that it be included on Cornerstone and be released as the first single on the album. This is all part of Tommy's and JY's FALSE NARRATIVE on how Dennis' songs caused a rift among the band. And another FACT, Tommy actually wrote the only 3 songs in the Styx catalog-Sing for the Day, Boat on a River, and Just Get Through this Night- that does NOT feature one single power chord. But again, it is all part of the FALSE NARRATIVE that Dennis only wrote ballads. Tommy and JY keep demeaning Dennis' hits while still happily cashing their royalty checks. Talk about the epitome of hypocrisy.

My late husband always called me "Babe", and used to sing this song to me often (he was a musician... and would sing this when he was away). When he died, the song came on the radio that evening, and the words meant even more to me than before because that day he left on his final journey without me.💔

I was a 20 year old in the U.S. Navy the 1st time I heard this song. Our ship was off the coast of San Diego, it was night time when I was on the sponsor deck listening to some music on the radio. Babe came on and it was what I needed that night to make it perfect. Many years later as a retired Sailor and this is still one of my favorite songs of all time. Styx rocked then & I still rock to this song decades later. Thank you Styx for all of your great music. Rock on forever! I salute you!👍🎵📻⚓

I was in Chicago Midway Airport a few years ago, waiting for my flight home. Suddenly I heard some guy singing opera at the top of his lungs! I looked up as the man with grey hair and a mustache passed on the automatic sidewalk, arms flailing like he was conducting a symphony, a slim woman beside him, in awe of her wildman... It was Dennis DeYoung and his wife, still married to his "babe" after all these years. ;)

Quarantine was rough, but an end is in sight. Finally going to be able to get out and we're going to see Styx and Reo Speedwagon in concert in July. Babe means so much to me. 5 years ago my husband's hard partying ways were finally catching up with him and almost brought it to an end. He decided to go for treatment. The night before he left, I cried when he played this song for me. 5 years later, he has been completely clean and loving life. It's only after the dark that you can see the stars...when we finally see ourselves out of this, we're going to be listening to Babe live on his 6 year anniversary....can't WAIT! thanks for the great music to see us through!

Sounds very much like the studio version. Also: who plays the synth (high strings) while Dennis plays the Rhodes piano? They probably mimed during the rehearsal before the show and edited in some live footage from later that night. This is done many times. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure if I run the studio version at the same time, it will be a 1:1 match. Just to make it clear: I love Dennis deYoung and Styx. If they mimed/ lip synced, it was for technical reasons.

This brings back memories for sure. I always remember hearing this song travelling down Malibu canyon in the back seat of the car on my way to Zuma beach as a kid in the early 1980's. The early 1980's were a magical time as they were well past the turmoil of the 1960's and 1970's, MTV just came out, music was at its best but still well before social media, internet, cell phones, and all the problems that have resulted from them. It was like this special little gap in time between the turmoil of the past and present where you just wanted to go to the beach and go to rock concerts. Rock concerts in the 1980's were awesome, no one taking selfies just everyone having the best times of their lives. They truly were the best of times.

Especially for a most timelessly beautiful song like this one. 🎶
Yes. Super agree. I❤Babe
No Doubt! Totally agree!!

BEAUTIFUL
thats a heartfelt story..god bless you
iM 48 AND this was myt 1st and only loves song. i never remarried and dont plan on. She may have hurt me very bad ill always love her. She is all my best memories and she was the reason for my happiness. Since shes left my life has been ruins and wish for death each day.

❤❤❤❤❤
Dennis DeYoung's faith in his song while the rest of the band did not like it is truly amazing!! it became their biggest hit!
@@davidrose8842wow, that’s very interesting. I had always heard Tommy wanted rock and Dennis ballads
YOU KNOW IT
I would be willing to argue that mr roboto was the biggest with this a close second, but for me I believe this to be the superior song due to content and quality.
Dennis Deyoung is Styx! They did him dirty.
Lady (1973), Suite Madam Blue (1975), Jennifer (1976), Miss America (1977), Queen of Spades (1978), Babe (1979) ❤

Yes, Indeed 👍
I was in Chicago Midway Airport a few years ago, waiting for my flight home. Suddenly I heard some guy singing opera at the top of his lungs! I looked up as the man with grey hair and a mustache passed on the automatic sidewalk, arms flailing like he was conducting a symphony, a slim woman beside him, in awe of her wildman... It was Dennis DeYoung and his wife, still married to his "babe" after all these years. ;)
Great story
I would have loved to be there to experience that. The guy still has, not just the pipes and the voice, but the heart. I love it.

Please know that the current Styx lineup will not play this song at your concert. If you want to hear "Babe", you have to go to a Dennis DeYoung concert.
David is correct, they still put on a great concert just without Dennis Deyoung’’s “Babe”
😭😭😭 beautiful! Styx and Speedwagon concert would be MY DREAMM! It's so sad that these legends who make the best music there is don't have concerts here in India. All we get is Justin Bieber lip syncing on stage and leaving. Please! Just keep that autotune with yourself, ugh. Also, it's so beautiful that you have someone to share this music with and who shares it with you!💜💜
Comment didn’t age well.
The live concert which just sounds like recorded in studio... So clean!! Wow.. Just wow! 😮👏👏👏
I thought the same. Awesome
Pretty darn sure that was edited in.
This song reminds me of my husband who passed away almost 9 years ago. In 1979 he worked in upper state New York and I was here in New Jersey. When he was leaving to go back to New York I would miss him so much. Until he came back here to New Jersey 😢

They truly were the best of times.
and Styx has a song about just that . The Best of times.
Great band, love their music 🎉
Hell yea..its june 2020..still listenin to styx..
Of course ! It's wonderful!
Awesome. 23:57, 07/01/2020. Lima, Perú
I just saw Dennis play Best Of Times..podcast from his home in Chicago..Granted...hes a little old man these days. BUT his voice ...and tone are still solid...Actually more wholsome sounding than back in the golden years. Just search Dennis Deyounge. Right here on youtube!
👍 Attended Styx concert in November 1979 the year this album was released.
September and I'm with you bro. Beings back my Military Days
My heart is in your hands, and I'll be missing you. Babe, I love you. I'm a new widow and this song goes right to my heart. We married in 1978 and I miss him so much.
This song is definitely a master piece 🔥 💯 🎵 👌 🙌
Masterpiece Of Rock Ballad

This was my husband and my song. Rest in peace Raymond.
My father loved this song, I never understood it when I was young. As I've gotten older I love it more and more when I hear it.
Wow, just hear this sound and the teenage years come back instantly.
Never tire of hearing this lovely song Thankyou❤
Memories: as a Marine wife playing this song at every deployment and saying goodbye. Not easy to do as these deployments could have not expected endings. Still brings tears to my eyes.
I grew up listening to melodious music like this, my HAPPY place! Music makes my soul sing! Love from South Africa!
What a fabulous group! Brings back so many memories! Saw them in Knoxville, Tennessee back in 94 and they were amazing! I’ll never forget their great music!
My heart is split in two but our ❤ will one day be back together
Today I said goodbye to my best friend and love of my life. I dedicate this song to him and pray God sends me home to him soon. I don't know how to survive this world without him
Hi Misty💐💐
This song heals my broken 💔 heart and fix it ❤️ at the same time.💌
Oh wow, I was in the 9th grade when this came out. I spontaneously broke into singing this this morning and my dog was not amused 😒 😁 Anyway, we’re now in my childhood home waiting for the sale/closing next week and this song harkens back to a time when mom & dad were here and love, laughter and song were plentiful! Love y’all forever❤️ Thank you STYX for a timeless song✨
Tough place to be. Have been there recently. Hold on to your memories. 💕
Dude that’s the sweetest song I’ve heard in along time! I sure wish that love were real for so many couples today. But sadly it just doesn’t happen anymore. 😭☹️
Dennis had such a beautiful voice! He didn’t deserve the garbage that his bandmasters gave him!
I don’t know about anybody else but this song screams a late night cruising on a back road then all of a sudden on the radio this song starts playing. Just a great song overall 😎🤟🏻
when the ballads were danced on a single tile on the floor
Smh, you really don't know,,& appreciate what real Love 💕 is, until it's gone !!❤👍
2024? Yes....been listening to STYX for 40+ years, and this *perfect* love song, will last another 40.
Tem coisas que nunca deveriam envelhecer e nem acabar . Styx é uma delas ! ............................... There's things that never should grow old and neither end . Styx is one those !
Vdd essa música marcou na minha vida até lembro é de 79 lembro da 1 namorada a sdd
Still love this song - my sister was ten years older than me so I was introduced to this as a very young kid but have always loved it - I’ll be missing this kind of music- Babe I love you!
What a pretty and wonderful woman ,hello my darling ?
My husband and I saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2022, it was the best show of the night. Reo Speedwagon played that night, they are my favorite band ever. Styx still had the better show and will always be a bright light in my life. I already loved Styx and their music. It was one of the best night of my life.
With this song i remember my dad.. who pas away in september.. i miss you sow much daddy i love you sow much
Absolutely my favorite all time song. I miss these songs today
bury a worthless timepiece in the sand....after a thousand years, it becomes priceless!!. Same with these old time music videos before MTV was ever known. Love it!!
Me and my sisters met one of the guitarist with the blonde hair at the DIA airport years ago. I walked up to him and asked him if he was a celebrity because he had the look and something told me he was ! so he said yes ,told us about his group ,and then gave me one of his guitar pen that he used to play his guitar with. He introduced me to this group and thanks to him,I love music like this! 💙💙
Kilroy Was Here was the first album I ever had. Got it for Christmas with my 1st turntable from my uncle who played and loved music. A short time later I discovered Cornerstone in a stack of my mom's old records in a closet. Been hooked ever since.
One of the best songs ever…Styx without Dennis Deyoung will never be Styx.
Agree 100%, no more, no less! Dennis De Young "was" the Styx!
so friggen true buddy .his solo dessert moon was friggen great hes the man.
Nah lol. He's great but Styx is DEFINITELY still Styx. Their two latest albums are both amazing and classic Styx.
Who is replacing him?
My favorite Styx song. Kelsey Esquivel, this song's for you. It's been 7 years but thoughts of you still linger on my mind.
I'm sorry for your loss, Jayson.
Jayson, same here for Lori; I will hold my thoughts for her as long as I live.
I have a very gifted son , and I always introduce him to all music's from Eras. I want him to understand that you don't need to use profanity to send a message out to the public. Staying wholesome can take you a far long way. I love classics songs. He wants to learn how to play this song on guitar or piano. Thank you Styx for such heart warming songs.
❤
