As a makeup artist I can see that a lot of people are missing the point of her video. She's actually pointing out the irony of people that claim they don't wear any foundation but they use a full face of concealer which is just basically wearing heavy Foundation. If you watch her other videos she is very light-handed with both concealer and Foundation she uses the perfect amount

The technique shown, it would be obvious it's a heavier coverage. I don't think someone stating they only wear concealer would necessarily be trying to down play their coverage, it's just a factual answer to how they achieved their look / contouring. Also some may use techniques that lessen the coverage the concealer has, such as diffusing with brush/damp sponge/foundation thinners etc..

I think her point is you can skip the steps of foundation and concealer and go straight in with concealer since it’s just much more pigmented foundation. It’s one less layer making it so you can avoid cake face, since makeup application should always be applied in light layers and using the least needed to cover blemishes while emphasizing features you want to. I don’t think it’s some deep message here. A base can be foundation or concealer, even a tinted serum or sunscreen. Base means a foundation of any kind.

Find the right size and shape of sponge for your grip and your face.if you have a lot of hollow areas on your face and/or you have a small hand, a smaller egg sponge with a narrow pointed tip might make blending easier for you... Start with all the lightest shades. If you have yellow, peach, and brown, blend out ALL the yellow first, then all the peach shades then lastly, all the brown. To polish out the look, you turn the sponge on its unused side to blend out the edges where the different colors/tones meet.

Way too much product! You do not need even half the amount you used. It gets too gunky and cakey looking on your face, aging you. Less is more. Only put it where it’s needed. Not over your entire face. Concealer is not meant to be used like that.
