This entire concert was one of the most beautiful moments in music history. Tragedy brings people together, and this was another example of that. I remember watching this on the BBC at the time, like millions of others. Even now, an anthem like Don’t Look Back in Anger is so powerful, and that’s why it was chosen 🐝❤️

Eugene J Ariana was in the title because it was her night. The people died at her show so this was her way of handling it. She did great all throughout the show so if she didn't necessarily put all her energy into this one song then I forgive her. Johnny played the solo the exact way as the original recording, nothing impressive about that. If anything I think the Manchester crowd made this performance amazing. Nothing beats singing Oasis with just about the entirety of Manchester singing along.

@adityasinha28486 жыл бұрын
Because it's a bittersweet moment - she's at a wonderful show and watching some of her favorite singers, but at the same time she's thinking about the reason for the show, and the people who were horribly hurt or killed just a few weeks before. That's why the image is a perfect symbol for the concert as a whole. It's joy and beauty and sadness and loss all at once - just like the One Love Manchester event itself.

The thing I love most about the concept of this concert was that it's such a Mancunian way of honoring a tradgedy - 'you've tried to disrupte our way of life, so we're gonna have a party' - it's more powerful than any number of minute silences, national anthems or speeches could have ever been in my opinion!

"Nero fiddled while Rome burned". I don't find it powerful at all. Quite frankly, it's a pathetic and sad indictment of a once proud people who have descended into decadence and nihilism, and are terrified to assert themselves even in the face of existential danger. What about the next time they 'distrupt' our way of life, will we have another party then too? Or how about the time after that, or the time after that? How many parties do you need to have before you wake up and realise we are at war and actually need to do something about it?

For those hating on Ariana in the comment section, please read this: On May 22, 2017 suicide bomber Salman Abedi killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert. On May 25, three days later, a minute's silence was held in St Ann's square in memory of the innocent victims. But out of the silence a single voice was heard. Lydia Bernsmeier-Rullow began to sing the Oasis song, Don't Look Back in Anger. Soon the crowd joined in and a video of the moment went viral. Don't Look Back in Anger became an anthem of solidarity and strength in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena terror attack. The song was then sung by Chris Martin at Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester Concert on June 4, to raise money for the victims and to rally spirits after such a traumatic event. Ariana Grande decided to put on One Love Manchester concert, a benefit concert in Manchester for the victims just a couple of weeks after the tragedy. Let’s just pause and think about this for a second. She didn’t do this from the safety of a studio in LA and beam it in by satellite. She didn’t just go on TV to denounce the attack and express support for the victims. She didn’t just record a song and donate the proceeds to charity (although she did donate the royalties from the re-release of her hit “One Last Time” to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund). But... She went back to Manchester. Back to the place where she wasn’t that far away from being a victim of the attack herself. And she put on a show, the like of which Manchester has never seen, with some of the biggest names in pop music on the stage with her. Credits: bbc.com mirror.co.uk medium: @NoWordsNoSong - The title just state "Chris Martin and Ariana Grande - Don't Look Back in Anger". It's not misleading, as both of them are in this video. Also, Chris Martin said, "You've been singing a lot for us so I think we want to sing for you... This is from us to you." People, why are you so mad? Why it bother you so much, that she wasn't singing? Let's be real... There's no way she doesn't know the song, right!?!?

Excellent observation on your part. You're right; Buckland was astute enough to look at Martin at that time, anticipating that he might want to encourage a stronger audience sing-along right then with less guitar.
Michael Rawlins M
and he joins back in in the exact moment
or they had the lyrics on screen and they knew they wanted the audience to sing beforehand the concert started
Yes it's clear the lyrics were projected on the big screen. And yes they may well have discussed when the sing-along would happen. They point is, Buckland was enough of a pro to look over at Martin at the right time. And Martin was keen enough to give him the gesture, just to be sure.
Chris your acoustic guitar sounds so great and your singing is awesome.

oh god, indeed
Yeah, you got that right!
I agree. Ariana didn't do anything except standing there and her name's in the title. Jonny played those beautiful guitar riffs and yet he's not mentioned in the title. wtf
Well, probably because he didnt write the solo...

J H I don't need to guess to know you're American. Same for every other negative comments on Twitter. How sad.
marcus Hayneiz it's a pop concert for teenagers.. people have jobs in government and the armed forces who should stop corruption and deal with it.
How happy does Chris Martin look to be singing this song... proper buzzing
Joe Croydon yes I bet he loves Oasis x
Wow! What a vibe there! I hope this can happen again and everyone can feel united without the fear of illness or disease. Peace ...

Certain moments in music that just, are special beyond anything. Queen at live aid was one, this might just be another.
Coldplay is like a warm breeze in our souls

Dora T. warmplay
GiddyGabbyZak lol yes!
***** Ikr, the "warm breeze" is just their presence up there
100% with you on that
Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland - Don't look back in anger That should have been the title.
I don't think Arianna knew the words to this song!
She sings a little though, if you listen to the first chorus at 1:27 you can hear a bit ”So Sally can wait” :)
RVCoelho axc what do you mean you don’t know why she’s there’s? He said in the beginning ariana we’re singing this for YOU
Un disparo de nieves y no excarven mas
God Bless all those that died at the concert you will all be missed so very much
Just not enough to get angry about
Sensação boa essa versão passou cara....❤️👏🏻
2:17 - the whole concert in a single image.
But why she was crying?
Because it's a bittersweet moment - she's at a wonderful show and watching some of her favorite singers, but at the same time she's thinking about the reason for the show, and the people who were horribly hurt or killed just a few weeks before. That's why the image is a perfect symbol for the concert as a whole. It's joy and beauty and sadness and loss all at once - just like the One Love Manchester event itself.

I love this song. I love this version
This has been in my head all day now
2:18 is the face of courage, pure emotion, determination and the power of knowing that if we unite and FIGHT, we can defeat the terrorists once and for all.
Isaac very well said xx
face of fear and fragility
Ehhhhh false. We're all gonna die.
except for the fact that music concerts do not kill terrorists, and only fire can fight fire.
The thing I love most about the concept of this concert was that it's such a Mancunian way of honoring a tradgedy - 'you've tried to disrupte our way of life, so we're gonna have a party' - it's more powerful than any number of minute silences, national anthems or speeches could have ever been in my opinion!
The New Breed Well said.
The New Breed when I watch this I feel so proud to be mancunian...
Massive respect to Ariana and her team for putting it together
"Lets fight bombs with parties". Great idea, lemmings.
Wow, I really enjoyed that, great live music, great song, just WOW :)
It's Feb 14 of 2023 and this kind of love is what humanity needs rn.
The title should be "Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland - Don't Look Back In Anger (One Love Manchester)
lol. yes!
i also agree when this title is "Ariana grande-Like a stone" hehehehe

ABBA
chris Martin does a good job singing this!
To je úžasne čo dokáže hudba a piesen !!! - nádhera !!!
What a love, tears in the eyes hearing the public singing...
This performance by Coldplay has done nothing but increased my respect for them. Greatest artists ever.
Oops. I think you meant to say that this performance only increases your respect for the greatest band ever (Oasis) whose song Coldplay covered. But Coldplay is certainly in the top 20:)
Kewal Mehta agreed! The best band ever
that's the right one
sorry but saying Coldplay are the greatest artists ever is an insult
Oasis > Coldplay. Easily.
Jonny Buckland the silent legend.
I haven't red such an accurate comment for a long time. Thanks :D :)
Affirmative :D
With Chris 😂
Hell yeah !
Absolutely
BLOODY FANTASTIC !!!
[Verse 1] Slip inside the eye of your mind Don't you know you might find A better place to play? You said that you'd never been But all the things that you've seen They slowly fade away [Pre-Chorus] So I start a revolution from my bed Cause you said the brains I had went to my head Step outside, summertime's in bloom Stand up beside the fireplace Take that look from off your face Cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out [Chorus] And so, Sally can wait She knows it's too late as we're walking on by Her soul slides away But don't look back in anger I heard you say [Verse 2] Take me to the place where you go Where nobody knows if it's night or day Please don't put your life in the hands Of a rock'n'roll band Who'll throw it all away [Pre-Chorus] I'm gonna start a revolution from my bed Cause you said the brains I had went to my head Step outside, the summertime's in bloom Stand up beside the fireplace Take that look from off your face Cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out [Chorus] And so, Sally can wait She knows it's too late as she's walking on by My soul slides away But don't look back in anger I heard you say [Chorus] So, Sally can wait She knows it's too late as we're walking on by Her soul slides away But don't look back in anger I heard you say So, Sally can wait She knows it's too late as she's walking on by My soul slides away But don't look back in anger Don't look back in anger I heard you say [Outro] At least not today
We know the words. Why would you write them down you little sad weirdo
Bagus sekali ya🎉
Yes those are the lyrics. Want a cookie?
Thank you!!!
❤
Cringe
Thanks for the background story! Didn't know about that.
Oh June 4th. Remember the perished people that fought for freedom in China, too.
Chris Martin is the man. What a performance.
You might want to check out the original version, or the live version sung by its writer, it's waaaaaay more amazing. Cheer m8, #RKID
By that i mean the man, the chief, Noel Gallagher
this singer have no requirement of autotune
And John Buckland as well
Furqon Muhammad Can Noel even sing it in the original key nowadays? I’ve been wondering for awhile now since the post-Oasis gigs always have the song in a different key creating a more melancholy version, which isn’t bad per se.
Still makes me cry, especially when I'm hurt like I am now....
Looking at this clip 5 years alter and i'm still mesmerised by Chris's voice. I'd even dare to say that this is better in my opinion than original.
bless Chris' voice, seriously
Chris and Jonny, legends
How can someone not love Chris Martin?
ask to Paltrow lol
Very very easily
The energy here was amazing
NOW THIS IS A CONCERT.

I’m surprised they needed to put the lyrics on in the background, this is basically the UK music industry national anthem, everyone should already know it
LOT4 USA as well...good stuff right here
