About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

I watch Dude dad for my mental health because Laughter really is the best medicine!
0:18 "the best gift that you can give to your kids is a healthy version of you..." same with spouses: they dont need monetary needs, the most that you can give them is :YOU! Totally agree with the saying "no". Its a "illegal " word for most. But love to say it with meaning and showing that I care! Love these kinds of videos - please do more!
"Not having to explain something to a 4 year old". Preach!
I am literally hiding in my bathroom from my kids to watch this video… It’s like “mom mom mom mom MOM!!!” Private Bathroom visit is my mental health treatment lol
Yes!! 😂😂
I about lost my crap the other day. And part of it is because I know it’s not my kids’ fault but it’s hard!!
We had to put a porta potty in our driveway when we remodeled our downstairs bathroom. That thing is the best! No one can find you in there!
I couldn't even get through this 8 minute video without interruptions from kids.
Same! 😆
*nods* That's because it is much longer than 30 seconds.
Agreed lol
Listen while at work
@@K3MM0N I work from home. I usually listen to these videos in bed.
my yard, it's my zen time plus the compliments from the neighborhood makes me feel good lol
This is pretty good. Not only the tips, but the fact that we need to remember of doing things to keep our mental health in check. Things get hard with kids...
I don't know what either of you would do without each other. You balance each other so well.
Just having both parents in the home will be a huge mental health bonus for our kids.
Not necessarily. My mom and her siblings are permanently scarred from their parents marriage.
I think it’s more about having two parents who like each other.
I agree with everything..... but saying social media can be self care is self sabotage. LOVE YOU GUYS! You are pure souls that deserve all of life's happiness!
How the heck does Heidi look so incredible? I'd like a list of vitamins and skin care items that she uses. You guys are amazing.
I know. She seems to just snap back to a thin, curvy frame after every pregnancy! She's lovely
Right? If I saw them on the street I'd think she was a teen Mom! Sometimes I feel the same way about Taylor but then I picture him in new balance sneakers and the effect wears off quickly.
This is so friggin awesome!! Understanding that our mental, physical, emotional and sexual health are ALL connected. Our kids imitate us. It's important that they see us love ourselves and see how we take care of ourselves.
Some of the best, clean fun laughs given in todays world!!
Amen!!
I think it's 'cause they're so genuine!
This was Soooo good! One of my favorites. So honest and "insightful."🤣🤣
Girls night out...I love it. But I don't have a lot of girl friends who are available. So I like to grocery shop, clean the church or garden alone. The Hotel a mile away is so true! We live in the woods, so the nearest city is where we go. Went off for a night without the kids and just refreshed our relationship 🥰 we do this at least once a year but try for 2-3 times. It seems simple but it works.
Love these tips! Always nice to hear things like this to motivate you and put things you already know fresh on your mind!
So sweet…..”are you going thru something? Do you need a hug?”
This is a valuable service you guys provide. It's that "How To" and "Been There" knowledge we use to get from our seniors, before we all moved 1,000s of miles from our seniors. Good stuff. God bless.
Date night ,you deserve it. Love you guys .
LOVE YOU TWO!!! Thank you for those tips, Blessings!!🙏🏽
My "check out" time is spent watching Dude Dad videos. ;)
Love this channel- so entertaining. I love the fact you guys have a strong relationship, honest, lots of humour, realistic challenges.
I'm with you Heidi, Music is my Best Therapy 🙌🙌🙌♥️♥️♥️
I’m both of these. 😂 As a stay-at-home mom of 3 boys 5 and under, I have a long list of outlets..
I think it is important to recharge and try to make time to do things you enjoy outside of just your role as a parent and spouse. A lot of times, parents give so much to other people, work or their community that they are worn out all the time. I am always encouraging my friends to make self care a priority and that it is important in restoring your energy and contentment.
As a Massage Therapist I want to suggest that Heidi go get some therapeutic massages to loosen her neck muscles on the right side. Her head is always tilted to the right and slightly rotated. That is an indication of tight neck and shoulder muscles. And it's part of self-care, so on theme with this video! 💆🏻♀️
I get a deep tissue massage every month. It is life changing! It's astounding the amount of knots and muscle tension we all have and can still function.
Could be a lot of things. Head tilting is a normal social body language behavior, more common in women. Site compensation, a social thing (tilting the head often brings rewards socially), the brain judging depth perception, etc. Lol, your tilting your head in your photo!
I notice that too!!! Lol
NUCCA, which stands for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association, is a technique that focuses on the unique anatomy of the upper cervical spine. It is a safe and painless way to realign the entire spine with a precise upper cervical adjustment.
Music is therapy YES 🙌🏻
I'm so excited! Taylor and Heidi are amazing parents!
Thanks for what you do on your platform! You're doing good things. Love it.
Kinda surprised Heidi didn't say coffee (or in her case creamer) 😂 thanks for the vids y'all
Heidi I totally feel you, never serious! My husband too!
I have bipolar disorder and this was great to watch, you both have me some good ideas. Love ya
I loved this! Music is huge for me too, I know that I need it and when I should have it, but I find it so hard to actually make it happen. Thanks for sharing!
Prayer! Guys come on. Also the way Taylor looks @ Heidi is so ridiculously sweet.
💚💚 *I feel you Heidi, music is my therapy*
The pictures on their fridge are amazing!
If you could LIKE something multiple times, I would on this video. I agree on doing the mundane tasks and being able to focus on something that’s on your brain and really let it be therapeutic. Also, music is my happy place too. I love watching you guys. Thank you for being willing to put your lives on display like this, and allowing us to relate with you about all the things. P.S. Come to Ohio !
Y’all are good for my mental health. Thank you!
Great tips!!! Y'all are the best. ❤️👍😆🤣
Ooo, can we get a peek into your playlists?!? Especially the uplifting/encouraging ones!
Been subscribed for ages! Love that u listen to music/ I’ve gotten away from it and I’m going thru really hard times My kids are three teenagers, and I miss terribly the years you’re dealing with. Teens are so much harder. In different ways.
This was very sweet, very helpful, and very funny. Thank you for the tips (mainly Heidi 😉)
“SPAGHETTI”!! Worlds best problem solver. Unfortunately I have a headache. But I will take a cookie.
I once worked with a lady that when she was in the mood, she would tell her husband: "I'm hungry!" It never failed that when she said it, her kids were right there saying: "But we just ate!" Lol!
6:27 you guys should try Mimi Page’s dreamy, cinematic and ethereal songs.
Heidi’s #3-so important!!
I love you guys. Thank you for this. :)
I love you guys! I needed the laughs! And validation!
Heidi is so lovely
The way he’s looking at her when she’s talking 😍❤️
I agree on NO... I've had clouds of small kids around me often and I found that every sixth or seventh time, I say no instead of yes. Since I always say Yes whenever I can, I need to make sure the kids know how to accept NO as an answer. I tell them that I always say Yes when I can, so if they can't accept my No, when it has to be no, then I can't say Yes anymore.
Oh my gosh - you guys are so stinkin' cute. Laughter is the best medicine, but I gotta say - I have the same issue... Hubby can rarely be serious! HA HA! Love the video.
Freaking love Heidi! She's the best.
Loved and enjoyed this one a lot. Best/favorite dude dad video yet imo
Happy to hang out with you two lovebirds anytime 💖 This is a insightful video!
Me and the wife needed this video as a reminder! Always love you guys!
Love you guys, thanks for sharing!! And worship music works every time!!! 👍✝️❤️
Love this and you two so much!
I really love the phrasing of "we love our kids AND we need some time to ourselves occasionally to recharge(...)", it's a very dialectic way of perceiving and describing. I am in a therapy group where we learn how much the phrasing changes point of view and valuing of things. Because needing self care time does not change anything about how much you love your kids, and the other way around, because both are very important and healthy and do not compromise or contradict each other, so there's no need for a relativation. Nice work on that one, I'm a big fan. :)
I needed this! Especially for me as a mom! Thank you!
Love you guys!! All great ideas!
Thanks for being real. Can totally relate. Esp about the music thing vs negative thoughts.
This is great! Thanks for sharing!
Great to see you at Red Rocks, recently! 🤘🏻Hope you enjoyed some time away with the boys, Taylor.
Ya'll are awesome. Thank you for being you.
Heidi looks fabulous! 🤗
Love this! My boys love watching your videos with me!
Your yin and yang is fun to watch! You rock, guys!
I love this type of video. You guys are great together.
I think we can all use this mom vs dad to learn more about each other in your relationship. You can each come up with a subject and do this.
I would add, in the winter time when there's enough snow, a nearby free sledding hill. Great cardio and fun and fresh air all alone but even better, a blast, with your kids. Friends and loved ones works too! 👍 Best, cheapest, funnest workout you can get in the winter. In the summer, I would say chasing and playing with your kids on the playground.
I wish we got more snow where I live. That sounds awesome!
I would love to know some of Heidi’s favorite playlists of music!
Hang in there y'all! Our oldest of four is now 12 and youngest is 4 2 others in there. The house is loud and dirty. It's hard. Life is hard so often. But The Lord is sooo good. Press on y'all
Good tips! Where did Heidi get her dress?? Super cute 😍
Thumbs up for the FARRRRTT!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
Heidi, you could develop a playlist for the inspirational music you use. And playlists for your different activities. I don’t know what platforms you use, but I like the one that starts with “spot” and ends with “ify”. I’ll be looking for one. Really enjoy the show.
If you didn't know otherwise, it would be real easy to think Taylor was a Colorado native... 4:52 was hilarious! Took Heidi a second!🤣
Does Heidi have a Spotify playlist? I'd love to listen to it!
Yes! Just say no. To your kids, your husband, your friends. Not all the time but sometimes you just have to say no and you're not a bad person. And when you do it's in those moments you can develop yourself and do the hobbies and things you love. Because taking a bath is nice, but if that's your only me time then you never get to paint that picture or learn that skill that you've always dreamed of. Then when your kids move out you've forgotten who you are.
Can we just get together and drink some Coors Light? 🤣🤣🤣 we would totally get along well. In all seriousness super awesome light hearted videos as always. I always like to make my wife laugh too 😂
You guys are my favs! The love there is obvious and it’s great so see in this world of ever growing hate.
Laughter and Zoloft 🙌🏼 the best medicine (for me at least!)
LOVE THIS!!
Theae are some really wonderful suggestions! I have a question I have been wanting to ask for qwhile now. Heidi, do you happen to remember where you got that cup? I have seen it in several videos and it is just so bright and fun!
Need these videos in our challenging world. Thank you
Such a wholesome video! I picked up good ideas for my mental health
Love this one
Love this!!
This guys is SO important!!
Tyler: "Do you need a hug?" Heidi: "I'll always take a hug." As she hugs Tyler but he doesn't put down his wake board and give said hug. SMH 😉😊 Love you guys!!! You always make me laugh or feel better after one of your videos. Keep on keepin on!!!
Just when I started tearing up from what Heidi was saying, 💨💨💨😂🤣🤣 This is a very good serious/funny video 🦋❤️🔥🦋
Same
Taylor and Heidi you are great parents
Great suggestions. Good topic for a video too! 🤗👍
Thats my son with the dinosaur oatmeal, except he wants the dinosaur eggs on the side. 🦖🦕😆 Thanks for the laughs!
I could only wish to have a wonderful family to be around. I honestly can do the same thing with out a break especially when I love it. But I understand. Not that your not but always be thankful for what you have even if it's only a nice bag of flower! I am reminded everyday of hurt and Lonliness but I am very thankful for what I have. You can ask my LOML she will tell you I can not stand being away from her and she says she fills the same way I do.
You two are good balls and I love it. You sure make me laugh.
You guys are so awesome!😁
Amazing videos! Thank you
Sub'd great video!! Gonna have to implement some of this in my life! Thanks for sharing.
One of my goals in life is to go out on the lake with these two or randomly run into them at the lake and it seams pretty plausible since I live not to far away
"Soaking in that Colorado sun" while being fully covered neck to ankle?!? (hehehe)
