  • I think we are at around 100% snowpack in sw CO. I'm hopeful it'll increase in the next two months. Wishing the best and plenty of water for everyone.

    • Outstanding, we love to hear it! 👍 We're also hoping things kick up weather wise in the next few weeks, just got back from California and the Sierra's aren't doing much. It really takes a 2-prong approach to help Mead the most: snowpack from Colorado and reduced demand downstream from increased water in California. I hope we can at least count on one of those happening again this year! Thank you for watching and let it snow snow snow 😎

  • Such an informative video, MOJO ADVENTURES! I was thinking about you just a couple days ago, during our 2-day rainfall here in the East Valley of Phoenix. I always wonder 2 things: How much does this constant rain help our reservoirs locally, and: I'm hoping this rain here in the valley is equating to SNOW in the higher elevations where it really counts toward snowpack?? It would be much appreciated if you can Reply here or maybe address in your next vid? As always, I'm a loyal viewer and trust you guys and your gathered data implicitly! Thanks so much!

    • Thanks for checking out another update! We've been getting hit with some pretty good storms also in Las Vegas 👍 Nothing like the snow that hung around our higher elevations last year though. Good questions! I'm guessing much like here, all the local rain around Phoenix doesn't help all that much unfortunately. I will have to do a little more research on that and get back to you. I'm working on the next Colorado River Watch stories now. It's looking like a pretty normal winter around the basin so far. No surprises or extreme snowpack like we were hoping for... yet 🤞 Appreciate your support as always!

    • I too live in the East Valley. The sad thing here is that so much of our water comes from underground. It would be interesting to learn how it gets recharged.

    • Thank you, appreciate the feedback! Just saw that also... Phil's not feeling the winter anymore. Getting hit with several storms and cold fronts out west now, so still holding out a little hope👍

    • @mojo.adventures BTW, sent a thanks, I tried yesterday and didn't go through, should be good now. This was a great report and I have personally been to all the major dams on the Colorado River. I have a video of Parker Dam 1989 when you could actually walk up to the turbines and the shaft was only 4 feet away. BTW, there was no one there except my family and this was a self guided tour.

      @bobbycv64@bobbycv643 ай бұрын
    • I see it now, thank you so much! That's pretty neat you could walk out on Parker dam, still haven't been to Parker but plan to visit soon as part of our coverage. I wish I could have seen some of these reservoirs back then!

    • Hi there .... I am somewhat obsessed with the water scenario that you cover, despite living up in BC Canada .... but this is a site I like to look at , as well as all the lake levels like Shasta, Oroville, etc , as you say they are all intertwined .... hoping the pineapple express fills everything up :) Again amazing job you do for all of us , thank you ! • I have been boating out of Temple Bar since 1983. But our 26' boat is a problem at Mead. We have not been to Mead since 2021. Now we go to Mohave.. But Mohave would never be our 1st choice. But, I must say Mohave has better boat camping beaches.

  • Still no mention of the Thompson project that’s sucking 80% of western water to the east😢😢😢

    @davidjennings127@davidjennings1272 ай бұрын
    • You are on top of it!👍 The Big Thompson project is big factor affecting the river right at the source. Though it might be a bit dated now, one of our very first Lake Mead updates from back in September 2022 I dedicated part of the update to explaining the project. I also linked to another channel "The Curious Vida" where he actually goes to visit the diversion channel. I try to build a little knowledge of the whole situation in each one of these updates. If you are interested you can watch that one here: kzhead.info/sun/Z9ChqKuxsZF9npE/bejne.html

  • I don't why they can't draw down the lakes

    @terryhancock@terryhancock3 ай бұрын
    • Lake Powell got a little too close to deadpool in 2022. If that happened, no water would flow past to Lake Mead, Arizona, or California. The intake and bypass were built too high up for the situation we're in now to draw much lower (check out the infographic "Antique Plumbing in Glen Canyon Dam") 👍

      @mojo.adventures@mojo.adventures3 ай бұрын
    • If they are removed All the damns

      @terryhancock@terryhancock3 ай бұрын
    • There were talks of "bypassing" Glen Canyon Dam last year so that Mead becomes the sole major reservoir, but can't remove all of them at this point. A lot of areas like the Arizona strip would be completely ravaged when the Colorado floods in spring now. You are on the right track though because the consensus seems to be there should have been many more small/regional dams built, instead of a few huge mega-reservoirs. Like beavers do 👍

  • Here's an idea: stop Phoenix from demanding more and more water with it's housing builds. Phoenix is the 5th largest metropolis in the nation, from what I've read.

    @billcarp3523@billcarp35233 ай бұрын
    • Phoenix has been growing like wildfire lately also! Last year city leaders there took some major steps toward conservation, and the alfalfa farms are being put under the microscope now. We'll see how it plays out going into 2026...

      @mojo.adventures@mojo.adventures3 ай бұрын
    • Not just Phoenix!! The whole East Valley has grown sooo much. I moved to Gilbert, AZ Jan 2021 and since then several big apartment properties and several big housing neighborhoods were built, as well as lilr 4 it 5 developments I know of In the queen creek and San Tan Valley areas alone...theres soooo much development of housing all over Arizona and the water supply I DONT think can sustain that Many people in a DESERT for decades ro come! Whatever tho cuz I hated it and soooo glad to be back in So Cal by the beach where I can take my kids out doors ANY day of the year

    • @@mojo.adventures Restricting part of the food supply chain seems counter-productive. Farming and exporting hay (like the Saudis are doing) is taking water from the locals, this must be what you're referring to.

      @billcarp3523@billcarp35233 ай бұрын
    • Yes Sir that's correct- farming and exporting. Many foreign firms use wells much deeper than the long time local farmers have or can afford to drill. If they go dry... they just drill even deeper.
