HV power supply boards, capacitors, diodes and thoughts.
Nomad said for me to look at his HV power supply replacement PCB as a replacement for the junker Golden Falcon amplifier I bought. Well Nomad, I been buying and using your HV PCB's since you came out with them. Back in the day when Pride DX-300's could be found for a reasonable price, I would always upgrade them with the Nomad Pride HV PCB. Then Nomad came out with the LV PCB for the Pride and I would use that too. Also, since I liked the HV PCB so much, I would often use the Pride 6 cap board for other amps too. Course you had to keep in mind, that with only 6 caps, at 450v per cap, that would be only 2700v max plus you need to leave some room for a safety margin. Hence, like Nomad suggested, one could use 500v caps instead of the 450's to bump the HV up to 3kv's minus the safety margin. I been doing this for years but now I'm glad Nomad came out with a 9 cap version of this PCB. This would bump the voltage to 4150 using all 9, but since my latest project is only running at 3kv, I only used 8 caps in series. Harbaugh sells a nice HV PCB too and its a little cheaper than Nomad's but Harbaugh has been sold and bought out and is going thru reorganization right now. Plus, I am a fan of Nomad, so long live Nomad. I just wish he would re-do the Mark IV PLL thing again though.
I love your work and your collection, have learned alot from your videos. Thankyou..Wave a hand to Mr 23,Traindriver Raleigh,NC.😊
I have threatened to take my rats nest to Nomad!
There are companies in China that will build PC boards for you relatively inexpensive. You supply the schematic and layout, the ship the boards. Example, PCB Way.
Sounds good, but I'll just keep sending Nomad my money.
