i find this idea from here.
Aaron Fixes Stuff • DIY Cat Wall Perch/Ham...
He teaches very well.
So i wanted to make it for my cats.
Mugi enjoy this step so much.
He love something new.
But Koyu dont use this.
I think she is too old now age 13.
Hama also dont use this.
She dont like something new.
Next, i will make hammock so i hope Koyu can use here.
Hama....she need time.
[Rope]
I use Saisal Rope.Its most popular for cats rope.
Smell is very strong,so 2-3 days you need to sun drying.
I don't mind the smell now.
diameter 0.3inch(8mm)
1,970inch (50m)
no oil no color.
amazon 25USD(2,599JPY) * 10= 250USD(25,990JPY)
[PVC pipe]
if u can find white one,you should choose it.
diameter 3.5inch(90mm)
i cut 12inch(30cm) each.
20 pipes. 31USD(3,200JPY)
20 cap. 2.3USD(240JPY)*20=46USD(4,800JPY)
[Total 327USD]
Rope 250USD
PVC Pipe 31USD
PVC Pipe Cap 46USD

  • Thanks for the video. Only thing I would add is to use shorter screws when you attach the post to the round cap. Shorter screws will have threads all the way up to the head of the screw. It will give you a much tighter grab than those longer screws with the unthreaded area below the head.

  • The shear strength of a single screw attached tightly to a stud is at least 100lbs (44kg). Two is fine

  • Maybe consider staggering every other row of posts (PVC) so the cats can go up and down more easily. Also, when coming to the end of the rope on the PVC, you can drill a hole, and hot-glue the rope into the hole as a finish.

    @GlassWolfLH@GlassWolfLH Жыл бұрын
    • If he staggers every other row then every other row would not be on a stud. There are definitely wall anchors that can hold the weight of a cat but for longevity. I think it's why he didnt' do it.

      @fansofrealmusic@fansofrealmusic6 ай бұрын
    • @@fansofrealmusic You put a shelf on two studs, you stagger them by going on studs 1-2, 2-3, 1-2, or 1-2, 3-4, 1-2, etc. Studs are usually 12" or 16" on center, which is a great distance for a cat, and the shelf can be wider than on-center of each stud, leaving a gap of maybe 8", if each shelf has a 4" overhang of each stud.

  • It works much better to soak the sisal and then wind it. When it dries it shrinks and becomes very tight. The ends simply get tucked under the windings. Of course, that is normally done when using wood as a substrate.

There are a lot of key tails or bob tails cat in Japan from long time ago. there are a lot of reason. but i like the reason about NEKOMATA monster. In samurai age,people believed when a cat with a long tail gets old, it becomes a monster called Nekomata. so they were scared long tail cat. and they didnt bred them. they take care about short tails. This is a picture of a cat painted in the 1800s. Many cats with short tails are depicted. ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%8D%E3%82%B3%E3%81%AE%E6%96%87%E5%8C%96#/media/%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB:Cats_suggested_as_the_fifty-three_stations_of_the_Tokaido.jpg

  • Yeah idk about all that hot glue (too tedious).. pretty sure there are easier alternatives like spray glue, but not sure if that’s safe to use around felines. Also would recommend using a washer between the pvc cap and the screw.. just using a screw to mount the pvc looks a bit sketchy, easy to get more surface area to hold with a washer. Otherwise awesome job!

  • It would have been so great if you would have told us where you got your pvc pipe -- is this furniture grade or regular plumbing grade? I have bought the plumbing grade pipe and it looks a lot thicker than yours. Also, Where did you purchase your sisal rope? I finally purchased mine at Amazon and it seemed very expensive. I am a novice at this and would have appreciated those extra steps -- including your approximate costs and how many feet it took for each wall post. I did love your video and your editing enhancements.

    • also, those screws you put into the sides of the pipe to hold the step to the cap.... wrong type of screws. They are literally just pins, once you ran the threads past both cap and pipe. Next time, try using shorter screws that have threads the whole length. The screws you used are for securing decking (plywood). The bare spot at the top allows the screw to spin in the material, while the threads are in the stud and keep pulling tighter. If it had threads the whole way, the screw wouldn't pull anything tight, it would just thread through it.

  • Great video! What was the total length of sisal rope required to make all 20 posts? Thank you : )

    @jayboogie27@jayboogie273 жыл бұрын
    • For anyone interested, I made seven posts at 9” long. I used a little under 200’ of 3/8” sisal rope that I got at Lowe’s and Home Depot. The rope from Home Depot was slightly thinner and easier to work with. We have an 8 yr old rag doll and after about a day of building confidence is now cruising up and down the posts!
